I am so glad that I’m finding some amazing new SW channels after the acolyte premier. I really liked your discussion. I think Qimir could possibly be one of the three characters 1) the Sith master (probability < 10%) 2) the Sith apprentice (probability > 50%) 3) a Sith acolyte of higher standing than mae (probability > 40 %) The word “Qimir” seems like a cognate of **chimaera**. Per Greek mythology, a chimaera is a mythical beast that can “breathe FIRE”. ***It looks like a lion, with a GOAT’s head protruding from its back. In other depictions, it also has a snakes head.*** The name implies deception, could be interpreted as hiding in plain sight (lion and goat) and also strength/evil/danger. So far the names in the acolyte seem to have specific implications that shed more light on the plot. Sol : sun in Latin Jecki lon~ lun(a) : moon in Latin Yord Fandar ~ jord : earth in old Norse Mae~ maestitia : dullness, gloom, sadness, sorrow and grief in Latin Osha~ usha : bright, dawn, shining, burning in Sanskrit Torbin ~ Þor-björn: thunder-bear in Norse (Invokes a ferocious fighter or a terrible act/event- the scarring and him taking the barash vow are consistent with that) And finally Qimir ~ chimaera : sneaky (?), dangerous (?) **Either Qimir played a role in the twin’s past (responsible for the horrific fire ~ fire theme) and/or is the origin of conflict in the present day(lion in the shape of a goat).** I’m pretty sure the actual dark lord of the sith (the Sith master) is not in the first season. It’s heavily implied by headland that the dark force user in the promos and the first episode is the sith APPRENTICE. This tells me, either that Qimir is the Sith apprentice masquerading as another acolyte with Mae, or is indeed an acolyte of higher standing with the sith. Another speculation of mine is that mae will be successful in killing kelnacca without a weapon. Sounds fantastic, I know- but for sol to die in an impactful way, she’d probably need a lightsaber of her own. I think she gets her sith lightsaber after kelnacca’s death. Keep up the good work, fellas
Great insight!! Thanks for sharing!! I think you’re right that the Sith Master will likely not be revealed until very late in the season or not at all. Could leave the door open for some EU nods, but we’ll see!
I’m just gonna drop that it is refreshing that you guys have a much more positive place to discuss SW over others on the internet that either love everything too much or is just all hate. Yord is cool & so is Sol. That unarmed close combat between Sol & Mae is a nice scene 🙂 Yord lighting up the area with Lightsaber is good way & facehuggah V2 was a nice touch. Just as Leslye told in interview that there will be some darker elements 🙂 May you have good relaxing time with S01 via D+ & stay well ^^
33:07 Too add to your point Konnor it’s amazing, that in the First 10-15 minutes of the first episode that they were already trying to cover up that Jedi’s Murder. It comes to show you that the Jedi at that point in time were so unstable.
I think both sisters might actually be one physical person with two spirits living inside. The one who died may have bonded with the living one in the force. It may also have something to do with Abeloth. The current main Sith's mask has a mask similar to the entity's appearance. The witch coven may be a cult dedicated to her. The Sith may be Abeloth herself. It may be the Mirialan that everyone hates. She seems so misplaced. That's a long shot however

The Acolyte story in my opinion is based around the the Medieval Inquisition plot line with revenge (kill bill) and twins (frozen). In my take these young Jedi zealots come across a village of witches that practice a form of the force that they consider an abomination, while looking for force sensitive children. The witches refuse to let these kids go with the Jedi, and resist. The Jedi, burns the village with all the witches to cleanse it, and Torbin is unable to bear the guilt.
Great show lads, I enjoyed the Acolyte and the return to practical effects. I’m with you re: Yord being painful but I think he’s deliberately being painful and he’s playing the role of “stickler for the rules Jedi” as I think it’ll be revealed he’s the Sith Master. I still think there’s a twist with Mae and Osha and they may be one person & that Yord defending Osha was him covering his potential apprentices tracks…
Thanks for breaking this down fellas. So far I feel underwhelmed by a lot of this story----similar to the Kenobi first two episodes. I actually thought most of the set design was just that......a set.....where as in Mandolorian, Andor, Kenobi and Ahsoka you actually never felt it was an actual set. Just a feeling.....and then in the third episode (semi-spoiler) when the wookie is by the speeder.....you can totally tell that is a giant cavas painting behind him....stands out like crazy. So far the sets have been underwhelmed and you don't feel like you are actually in a different world if that makes sense. The dialogue contradicts itself in the same episodes......Mae says "only a JEDI draws it's blade with an intent to kill".....then the yellow lightsaber young dude lights up his saber like 5x after that in the episode...haha The Jedi definitely feel like a Police Force and Child Protection Services. Character development will come I know......but it still didn't happen in the E3.....like why does Sol feel so connected to this young girl he does't really know?!?!? Interesting for sure to see how this will develop. So far I am underwhelmed and is prob the worst show they have put out.....will continue to watch.
Dude I’m totally with you. The contradictions in the dialogue are EVERYWHERE. And I can’t figure out if that’s intentional. Hoping the series improves but so far… it’s just not hitting for me
I believe that Mae survived the presumed dead and was cured or saved by the Sith master, who lie to here and told her that her sister is dead and that she killed her in the fire, similar to Lord Sidious telling Anakin that he killed Padme. Is interesting to me that only Yord draws his light saber in a menacing way, when supposedly Jedi's only draw them to kill or for defense. We have to be careful with this super correct characters, he may be hiding something. Qimir is my choice to be the Sith, but maybe he is the apprentice and some one else is his Master, Mae is just a tool.
On the Jedi robes, In the high republic books the fancy white robes are used in the temple kind of like ceremonial or stately dress and they have the more toned down everyday style Jedi apparel for missions and normal dress if I’m remembering the books correctly
@@BeyondTheDuneSeaThe white and gold are formal ceremonial robes, while the brown and gold are for when they’re in the field. But these robes are mainly worn by the Jedi based in coruscant or other temples, not the outposts. The Jedi located at the outposts wear robes that are more akin to the attire of the prequel era Jedi like indara in the first scene.
Thank you!! Appreciate the feedback. We’ve experimented with chapters in the past but I always thought they spoiled too much. I’ll look into trying them again with a different approach!
Maybe it was just me but when we first see the Wookiee, didn’t he look like Bigfoot? The sort of Mohawk ponytail made his head look very pointy in the long shot lol
I honestly feel like Yord is, at the very least, connected to the guy behind the mask. Like he's just too keen on (conveniently) observing everything from afar and his demeanor overall just feels shady.
I think that’s interesting. someone else pointed out to us that they make a point to say they Jedi only draw their sabers when they’re willing to kill, but Yord draws his before an altercation even begins. Could be something there

(Invokes a ferocious fighter or a terrible act/event- the scarring and him taking the barash vow are consistent with that)

**Either Qimir played a role in the twin’s past (responsible for the horrific fire ~ fire theme) and/or is the origin of conflict in the present day(lion in the shape of a goat).**
