One of the unfinished Clone Wars arcs was about the army getting into a skirmish with the navy and it would have been a homage to Top Gun. Just imagine what pilots we could have gotten in that arc.
@@nchldmn No doubt. 1 appeared in the order 66 arc on Kamino and would have appeared in Bad Batch but in the new/final animation reel they replaced him with a phase 2 clone wars one for some reason.

God this video is so accurate to TCW. All the gunships that carry main characters are pretty much guaranteed safety, and Separatist warships spontaneously combust the minute the Republic fires some bombs or shoots a turbolaser volley at them. I can count the number of battles the CIS didn't have a ship spontaneously combust on 1 hand.

I know there was a planned clone wars arc in the style of topgun for season 7 in early production and it focus on Captain Rex and R2-D2. There’s some concept art sketches created by Dave himself for this arc of air and ground clone forces having a big argument and flying arc 170.

But what about the Second Battle of Geonosis? Every gunship save for Kenobi's was shot down and Ki Adi Mundi almost died.
