Just purchased this for my bedroom. I do find it works great and is perfect for my application there. Don’t need a sub or surrounds there. It provides enough bass for a bedroom. I have a complete Sonos system for my living room, which works great there. Really nice review I enjoyed your demo and knowledge.
Great video.. I recently purchased the bose sound bar and sub it was everything i expected plus more. Looking to get the surround speaker later on. Plus they did an update where you can adjust the surrounds now.
Another excellent review!! Great job and congrats on your purchase!!!! Bose always have great products, but I find them way too expensive! I been shopping around and I have my eye on a Yamaha YAS-107 sound bar.
It's a pretty good bar. I have heard it at Costco. Love the quality. Though myself I prefer using an actual 7.1 system. JUst cause of how each speaker has it's own tracks to play.
Yes I love the sound and I also have the subwoofer and rear surrounds. I would say this Is a great purchase. The only thing you might want is Atmos up firing speakers 🔊 which Bose does not have on there sound bar yet. 😊👍🏼
JohnXanderTech Thank you! You were instrumental in my selection of this sound bar last year and I love it. I would like to pick up the Sub and rear speakers for the 5.1 setup.
It only has the one hdmi with a 4K pass through hdmi as well. I have noticed that it passes 4K but has trouble with Dolby Vision used in the Apple TV 4K. It will cause the screen to go black and then come back periodically. You have to run to the tv then use the optical in on the Bose.
does the subwoofer really need to be from Bose? How the hell should I buy a subwoofer which is the same price of the soundbar !? that’s inane. Why don’t you like ARC? Works fine for me with my LG E7 OLED but I will return my LG SJ9 Soundbar which sucked, therefore came for your video
High quality very good looks, I’m happy with the sound, nice room filling bass and clear dialogue. Only thing if you have a new Samsung 4K tv don’t even bother with ARC just go optical and save yourself much anger and frustration.
hi john, thanks for the review..wonder if you can comment on how you compare the new bose soundtouch 300 vs the older one (solo 15 system ll), which i believe is the older one...any thoughts?..cheers
The Solo 15 II I had was amazing very good sound I was not disappointed. I got the sound touch 300 because of expandability I was able to add additional speakers and a true 5.1 surround sound. The sound is more enveloping.
I can see that you put dose 3M Command tape on your bose virtually invisible 300. do it works well, such as will she hold on to the wall. I ask because I do want to make hole on my walls
I have been using Bose systems for years. Can I pair this sound bar with my Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver to use as stereo sound for radio and DVD's? I play a lot of classical music, but in my current house I simply do not have the room for my old Bose bass module with all the wires and the 5 speakers. Thanks, Jan
The Onkyo TX-NR709 can pass hdmi out to the Bose but it does not have an optical audio out which is what you want. I do not think it will work. Sorry. I would call Bose to make sure. Good luck. 👍🏼 www.onkyousa.com/Products/model.php?m=TX-NR709&class=Receiver community.bose.com/t5/SoundTouch-Archive/How-do-I-connect-soundtouch-300-to-Sony-receiver/td-p/3097
some soundbars use pwm type amplifiers and pwm type powersupply.best to use just for woofer or sub.but they use it to power the main amp also.and iff they use a pwm type amp for the mids and highs it will have some negative effect on the sound tonality and smoothness.hard to explain.pwm can filter down noice from the power conversion down to the hz wee hear.pwm power supply does the same.best advise is to read up on sound and listen to many system and use some time.then the chance is great for years off good sound.
You have a minimalistic living room design with some space limitations around the right side of your TV. In your case, a soundbar MIGHT be your best option for sound quality. If you're ok with a little bit of extra bulk and an extra component, you can upgrade to a home theater system. Even for $699 you could build a basic 5.1 home theater system that will blow any soundbar setup out of the water. Notice that most Cable/Satellite TV companies, as well as online streaming services such as Netflix transmit Dolby Digital audio with their content. You NEED at least a 5.1 channel home theater setup using a receiver that's capable of decoding Dolby Digital to take advantage of this technology. Now remember, this is 2017. Dolby has come a long way. Now it's about Dolby Atmos. You need a 5.1.2 speaker setup with a receiver capable of decoding Atmos. Take a look around RUclips at people showing off their setup. Get some ideas, learn some things about Home Theater Audio. Sure, that LG OLED can decode Atmos, but the experience just isn't there. Remember, Audio is half the experience of TV viewing. You've got the perfect TV, now go for the perfect audio. You will be amazed at what you've been missing all these years.
