@@PoliticalSci Not true. Nobody was ever required to cover her face in Iran. You are confused between covering the hair vs. covering the face! Even covering the hair is softened tremendously to just having a symbolic cover. Of course in official places it is enforced more and the law is less enforced for foreign visitors. Women in Iran were never banned to drive, that country is Saudi Arabia. Female students and teachers make up about 60% of university teachers and students.... Yes, there is big quest for freedom for women in Iran but that has nothing to do with travel safety for Americans. There are about 1 million Iranian-Americans many of them traveled regularly to Iran on a yearly basis. Currently there are a handful of Iranian-Americans in jails in Iran. I can believe some of them were actually spies but also the rest in jail because they punched the wrong keys concerning security. Hi guys👋🏻🥰 I am an Iranian and I would like to remind you of something here after watching this beautiful video: I want to remind you that the wrong policy of my government towards the United States has nothing to do with the thinking and feelings of the people of my country about the American people, and two things are completely different ... It is true that we,like many people in other parts of the world, don’t like the foreign policy of the US government, but it has nothing to do with what we think and feel about the American people... We Iranians love and respect the American people, and we’re saddened and ashamed of the ugly face that our government has created from our beautiful country and kind nation in the world due to the theirself wrong and ugly decisions and actions... Please separate the Iranian people from their government and don't look at them same... 🇮🇷💞🇺🇸💞🇮🇷💞🇺🇸
Iranians are wonderful people and welcome everyone, they are intelligent enough to understand the difference between American civilians and American Gov, however, if you go there saying "we blew up their top General" might be a bit stupid.
Lots of Americans are too ignorant of history to know how we overthrew Mossadegh and installed the brutal Shah to run Iran for decades. What happened I thought we believed in freedom and democracy?
I agree with you. I have met many Iranians who are wonderful people, and plenty of Iranians may dislike the American government (rightfully so for many reasons) but have nothing against American people. Unlike Americans, citizens of other nations have the ability to separate a shitty government from the people who actually live there. The Iranian government is shit and the Iranian people know that as much as anyone else. Just like myself, as an American, hate the American government, but I still like America and living here. And America is plenty unsafe for foreigners depending on what color skin you have or what religion you are. I have two degrees, one in history and one in anthropology, and Iran has been a dream destination of mine. The youth are fed up over there and that regime will crumble eventually, and when it does, I want to be one of the first to go and experience the incredible wealth and history of the Persian people and culture.
I think they mischaracterized Iran’s people. They could say that about some of the religious “Right” but many in Iran disagree with the more religiously conservative policies. All people are people. They are just put in different scenarios.

Back in the 90s, I picked up a guidebook called The world’s most dangerous places. It’s a scary but honest look at destinations. Although, out of date, same countries, same dangers. The book also had that comic touch when describing countries, hellholes, witches brews etc. There were only 2 editions, but if you could pick one up,it’s a fascinating read.
I had that book as well by Robert Young Pelton, I loved it. In the version I had, the U.S. made the cut of one of the world’s most dangerous places. Sadly, we have become desensitized to the danger in our own country.
"It’s a scary but honest look at destinations." Honest? In what way is it honest? How do you know the book was honest? Did you visit those destinations and verify that they were indeed dangerous? Do you believe Briggs honestly knows what the f*ck he is talking about? I hope you are not that stupid.
@@clintfalk Yeah Afghanistan is Disneyland, right? Afghanistan was one of the countries in Mr. Pelton’s original book, so was Pakistan. In the section on Pakistan Mr. Pelton said something to the effect of “You paid the equivalent of .10 for your bus ticket, what makes you think the brakes on the bus are good”? Like I said, there was even a chapter on the U.S. I live here and I know it to be a dangerous place.
There is very little difference in the level of threat when visiting Detroit or Haiti. I grew up in Detroit and lived and worked in Haiti. In fact, I would say Detroit is more dangerous as there is a tendency to lower your guard when visiting there, a mistake you won’t make in Haiti. Granted, Detroit has fewer earthquakes, and by the time hurricanes move inland as far as Detroit they are just rainstorms,
considering the colonial legacy of Haiti andthe internation scorn directed towards it im not sure if your comment is supposed to make me feel worse about detroit or better about haiti. The whole situation is pretty fucked up considering the common denominator is poor black people
@@tonywords6713 My intention is only to describe my personal experience, not to make anyone feel bad. Both places are incredibly dangerous for U.S. citizens, with Detroit taking the lead between the two. In Haiti, there is no doubt you are in a very foreign environment and that it is a dangerous place. Visitors there are unlikely to lower their guard and may even choose not to leave their place of lodging. Spending a month or two in Haiti may result in needing short term psychological care. It seems likely few visitors would ever willingly return. Detroit is more dangerous for visitors because an American, in America, may expect Detroit to be as civilized as anywhere else in America. Consequently, they lower their guard. Lowering their defenses could result in them falling victim to local criminals. That mistake is typically only made once. If lucky enough to live through the encounter they will be street-wise and savvy. Detroit will be removed from their list of favorite places to visit. Other major U.S. cities also make the “Don’t Go There” list. Skin color has nothing to do with this. Having lived and worked in Sub-Saharan Africa I know this is about culture - the way people choose to live their lives. African culture includes violence. When residing in Africa I stayed in an apartment equipped with a hidden strongroom that contained a jail cell. I locked myself in the cell at night with a radio and an Uzi with lots of ammunition. If attacked I was to call for help. No one would come because it was far too dangerous, but I was to call anyway. Nowhere else in the world was I required to do this. Those cultural traits continue today in the US. and other places. The behaviors displayed in Detroit are the same as those displayed in the African heartland. After arriving at my hotel in Nairobi i walked around the block. It only took 20 minutes to experience an armed robbery. The .357 Magnum I carried stopped the robber and the robbery. I continued my journey to Dar es Salaam and on arrival was issued an Uzi with ample ammunition. I was not to leave home without it. Even trips to their very nice beach were made in heavily armed groups. I am not racist, nor do I believe that black skin has anything to do with it. In Burma I met many very black Indian people who were quite pleasant. Their Indian cultural roots and behaviors were very different from those of Africa. Behavior, not color, is what is critically important. People exhibiting dangerous and violent behavior are best avoided, be that behavior displayed in Detroit, Haiti or downtown Nairobi.

Same thing will happen in the US when for example a visitor from Middle East, knowingly or not, approaches sensitive places.

I want to remind you that the wrong policy of my government towards the United States has nothing to do with the thinking and feelings of the people of my country about the American people, and two things are completely different ...

@@eriklakeland3857 I find it both incredibly sad and incredibly naive that Americans are so unaware of why they may be unwelcome in so many places.
Back in the 90s, I picked up a guidebook called The world’s most dangerous places. It’s a scary but honest look at destinations.
Although,out of date,same countries,same dangers.
"It’s a scary but honest look at destinations."
Honest? In what way is it honest? How do you know the book was honest? Did you visit those destinations and verify that they were indeed dangerous?
Do you believe Briggs honestly knows what the f*ck he is talking about? I hope you are not that stupid.
@@clintfalk Yeah Afghanistan is Disneyland, right? Afghanistan was one of the countries in Mr. Pelton’s original book, so was Pakistan.

North Korea is something resembling safe if you follow all the rules, that being said it's stupid China is on this list instead of North Korea.
I think it was because at the time of the video the pandemic had just started. But the tone of the video in general comes off as slightly condescending...
@@kennedyblevins2174 He's parroting early 2019 US State Department propaganda to make insecure fools who know nothing about the world outside our borders feel good about themselves.

Honestly I was shocked that Haiti was number 1. Since I know so Many people who have traveled there and back safely. With no crazy stories
I honestly don’t know how it’s even on this list either
Bro I’m from Miami and have many Haitian friends that grew up in Haiti. It is not that unsafe to travel to. As noted in the video, I’m assuming he’s factoring in the natural disasters, etc. Many of the people ( young/internet age) are very Americanized because of Miami. North Korea is not even on here so there is definitely some bias from our US travel advisories list.
Dontrell Washington I 100% agree with you.
I’ve been going there for over 30 years with no problem.
Dontrell Washington yea the fact that Haiti is above Syria where there’s an active civil war?! Makes no sense. AND with out any terrorist attacks lol. I’ve been to Haiti and theyve called me worried about us since police are shooting back people.

I spent 6 months there in '94-95. Once you get out of Port au Prince, and maybe stay out of Cap Haitian, it really is a nice place. They have beautiful beaches and gorgeous mountains, as well as some amazing history. As the first colony in the free world, to cast off its chains of colonialism & slavery itself, the country has some things to be proud of.
I've been to Labadee and took a coastal tour of Haiti. It was fun and Haiti is beautiful.

The comments on China and the beer illness compared to the safety of the US seem pretty ironic here in July 2020.
I agree. COVID-19 changes very rapidly - thanks to the incompetence of Rydges and Stamford (whose managers and guards will hopefully suffer a long prison sentence and be made to pay the wages of those forced out of work) Melbourne is now the epicenter of COVID-19 in the world, at a time when the rest of Australia has got over COVID-19 already thanks to much better management (and having fewer people in quarantine and more favourable locations for it).
China is not so bad, but they did make the covid-19 and its taken over 500k lives.
