Love it. Soundgarden were doing something super specific with mixed times that went underappreciated. I've listened to this album a million times and then sat down to try and play along with it and was like... Oh. I've never listened to Soundgarden.
Excellent job. If I weren’t watching it, I wouldn’t have guessed that wasn’t the original drum track. Great song, too. I’ve always loved the line “I’m looking California, and feeling Minnesota.”
killer cover! Matt Cameron is such an awesome drummer. such eloquence with every fill. not even close to the most complicated but they contain such power and emotion. truly a masterclass drummer who often flies under the radar.
Takes me back to '91 jammin' to this song in my head (no accompaniment whatsoever) as a twenty year old. Played the shortened version from TV as I didn't have the album at the time. Some early odd-time forays! I'd only bought my first set the year before & was learning by air-drumming along with songs til I was comfortable enough to apply it to the kit; tried playing to tapes but I'd drown out my little stereo and have to stop, find I was about a bar and a half ahead, then resume playing! At least with the air-drumming method (with sticks) I could hear the songs; then it was a matter of internalising the tune in my head and play to that, my parents thought I was rubbish because I couldn't amplify my thoughts. Once they heard me jamming with other people they realized I knew what I was doing.
Awesome song from Soundgarden which starts in 7/4 time signature or one bar of 4/4 and one bar of 3/4. And of course always great playing from this KiwiDad! Think this is a great song for drummers starting to work on time signature changes and odd time signatures. Me personal i just love 7/8 and 5/4 timesignatures and the feel they give when playing.
This is RAD, Andrew! Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands and this is a great drum cover. When you have time, I recommend giving "Let Me Drown" and "No Attention" a swing. Both great workouts.
I really love watching how other drummers approach and play their snare (no sarcasm, for real.) For me, I play a rim shot on 2 and 4. Always. ALWAYS. Three to four inches away from the rim at about the “7 o’clock area” is my “ghost-note zone”. The centre of the snare is my “no-go/ stay away zone”. But then here comes Andrew, no rim shots, playing right in the centre. And it sounds good. Really good. Just goes to show you, even though there actually is a “right” way to play, there’s really no way that’s “righter” than any other. Figure out what feels and sounds right for you, and rock on.
Give is some more meters aint no use would be lush! Love to see it andrew love soundgarden too. Just want to see you swagger a bit on the kit. Also be cool if you did something like toots and the maytals for a different kond of groove ;) Also, if you see it got a question for you. You are a musician and clearly love music but am curious if the channel has done anything to reignite or inspire you? As ive gotten older i dont have those gushing conversations anymore about bands like i used to, and ive realised increasingly that the absence of that has also been part of the absence of that raw excitement about checking out new bands and styles and players and omg mate listen to this its from abother planet who the fuck is/are these guys! Interestingly watching yours and people like you's videos is part of getting some of the excitement back for me. Because i can, in a sense, sit and share something i love again with someone that is excited avout it too... Anyway it would be interesting to hear of the channel gives anything back to you in this way ornhas given you any new ideas or things for your playing at all. All the best from the UK. not a drummer but still a fan :)

Thanks for the song recommends!!!
Love "No Attention". Might I add "Rusty Cage" to the list? Perhaps a Soundgarden/Johnny Cash mash-up.
