In the summer of 91 I saw the Use Your Illusion tour in Kentucky just before the St Louis incident. Skid Row was with them & played Ice Ice Baby, it was pretty funny. GNR played most of the good UYI songs and that album wasn't even out yet. "You Could Be Mine" was big at the time too & hearing it live and seeing that Terminator guitar just a few days before it got destroyed or whatever was pretty cool. I got to hear November Rain & Coma live before the album even dropped. I was so close Axl & Slash both flung water on me. I'll never forget it. And I'll always love GNR for it.
Slash in his prime was a studio legend but his live performances wasn't that great tecnically in my opinion. Today without drugs and alcohol, he's showing why he is THE DEFINITIVE GUITAR HERO. Ps: I'm not saying that he was bad at live performances, but in my opinion the drugs that he used before the concerts fucked up everything in the most times. Now without this problem, the history has changed.
My first concert was GnR and Skid Row. Concerts in the 80s and 90s era will probably never be rivaled. It was just a high energy, feel good time period when you could really just cut loose and have fun.
The only one I’d consider getting actually tattooed on my forehead would be the solo from KOHD live in Paris ‘92. I’ve been listening to it for 30 years and it still blows me away…
great video, slash's name doesn't come up enough when talking about great rock guitarists, i think that's because he's so melodic in all his music, and a great song writer, slash just sweats melodies, no noodling, no tricks, no wasted notes, a true professional guitarist.
It´s nice to see him post-90´s he worries more about playing clean live......If you see those use your illusion solos live.......man he had some trouble getting them bends right.

Holy shit I need to look into GnR more. Slash is insanely talented. No wonder he’s always listed as one of the best guitarists ever!
I’d recommend Nightrain, Rocket Queen, Coma, Estranged, and Double Talking Jive for some good guitar riffs/solos 😩

If you are talking about distinct playing and feeling, i guess you have to add Santana to that List.
That Anastasia solo from the 2012 Sydney show is still one of the most awesomely ridiculous solos I've ever seen.
