This is so true, as an animator I make animations, and animation takes a lot of time, but sometimes I would just make a goofy animation and upload it, and ends up doing better than the ones that I mostly spend my time on... It's honestly pretty sad for me XD

I believe this is because the more time we spend on something the more “specific” the audience becomes therefore hitting your target is harder. Whereas the more vague or just “off the cuff” they are the broader the audience would be.
Wouldn't say your videos are just making noodles, you are so much more than just the amazing food you create. You share life lessons and help people in so many different ways while showing comfort foodz
I‘d also add that people like recipes that don’t take an eternity and if they want to do a more complicated dish, they’ll likely buy a cookbook for that (when talking about food content creators)

i tried for multiple years on and off to try to grow an art insta, and i only more recently realised that you can literally just post a sketch, wip, shitty doodle, *anything*. by posting more (no matter what it is) you make the algorithm happy and it boosts ur content to more ppl. i always thought that i should put my finest and most perfect work out there, but quickly realised that it always intimidates me and i end up not making any progress at all. bottom line: you don’t have to post something out of this world mind-blowing to make it big :)

I always wanted to be a content creator when I was younger to get at least a bit of money to help my family, but years later now I'm a very small content creator trying to at least make someone's day better! Remember that being a RUclipsr is not all about views or likes, but to inspire and teach others

this really hits hard, me and my dad had a cooking channel and he was so excited and happy to start filming but i knew how tough the Internet crowd is, especially on youtube with long form content, i knew that it won't be the success that he thought it would be...i was in charge of filming and editing, i did my very best, im a perfectionist and i made sure that every video was perfect we ended up only making six, 20 minute videos over the span of 2 months before he lost motivation from literally no engagement and quit youtube, the last video that we posted was well over a year ago now... i tried to tell him that long form content, especially the style he was doing, won't work anymore and we need to do shorts, tiktoks, ig reels but then he would start shouting at me and arguing, he would be like u stick to ur job and i will stick to mine but yeah, i feel like for most people? their dreams won't ever come true
Have you considered that your results might be because of your expectations? Whether you think you can (or think you can’t) in either case, you are right. Energy doesn’t lie, you reap what you sow. So, if you expect your dreams/ channel to fail, don’t be surprised when you do.

It's not just about making good videos. You need to learn marketing it properly and keep doing it regardless of feedback. RUclips is like that. For the longest time nothing happens and suddenly you have a noodle video that blows up

rinse and boil udon noodles. finely chop garlic and shallots, fryin a neutral oil. (start cold and heat or expect huge oil splash) create a mix of chopped cilantro (I would add scallion/spring onion), sugar, msg, chinese five spice, chilli flakes pour the garlic/shallot oil on top. add dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, and soy sauce to taste. add citrus of choice (lime/lemon/yuzu). mix with noodles. I think thats about 85-90% right

This is good advice for anything. Aim high, but dont aim for smth unrealistic. You’ll end up never doing it or failing and probably feel really bad about it or be hard on yourself. Dont stay in your comfort zone and plan to hike to the highest mountain. Take small steps
I think the lesson was more, there’s a difference between someone wanting to do something and a person who takes action to do it. So instead of just saying that you want something or want to do it take action towards your goals in order to achieve them.

Then you're lazy, incurious, and effectively if not actually a dullard. Some of those things can be improved with willpower, but they all serve to make willpower less likely or useful. Nobody is going to live your life better for you, so I guess you'll just have to actually want to yourself.

@@gatekeeper65 Good point. For myself, I was unemployed for a while and getting a new job was taking longer than I hoped it would. So I figured if I couldn't be any use to myself at the moment, maybe at least I could be of use to someone else. At my own expense, broke though I was, I volunteered to take meals for our local version of Meals on Wheels to shut-ins and the elderly and disabled. They were so grateful for not just the food but to say hello to someone for perhaps the only time that day. It felt wonderful, cost me gas and sometimes a fair amount of time, but when you don't know what to do with yourself, helping others can help keep you grounded and useful and anchor your consciousness in the real world.

This is so true, as an animator I make animations, and animation takes a lot of time, but sometimes I would just make a goofy animation and upload it, and ends up doing better than the ones that I mostly spend my time on... It's honestly pretty sad for me XD

I believe this is because the more time we spend on something the more “specific” the audience becomes therefore hitting your target is harder. Whereas the more vague or just “off the cuff” they are the broader the audience would be.

i tried for multiple years on and off to try to grow an art insta, and i only more recently realised that you can literally just post a sketch, wip, shitty doodle, *anything*. by posting more (no matter what it is) you make the algorithm happy and it boosts ur content to more ppl. i always thought that i should put my finest and most perfect work out there, but quickly realised that it always intimidates me and i end up not making any progress at all. bottom line: you don’t have to post something out of this world mind-blowing to make it big :)

this really hits hard, me and my dad had a cooking channel and he was so excited and happy to start filming but i knew how tough the Internet crowd is, especially on youtube with long form content, i knew that it won't be the success that he thought it would be...i was in charge of filming and editing, i did my very best, im a perfectionist and i made sure that every video was perfect
we ended up only making six, 20 minute videos over the span of 2 months before he lost motivation from literally no engagement and quit youtube, the last video that we posted was well over a year ago now...
i tried to tell him that long form content, especially the style he was doing, won't work anymore and we need to do shorts, tiktoks, ig reels but then he would start shouting at me and arguing, he would be like u stick to ur job and i will stick to mine
but yeah, i feel like for most people? their dreams won't ever come true

It's not just about making good videos. You need to learn marketing it properly and keep doing it regardless of feedback. RUclips is like that. For the longest time nothing happens and suddenly you have a noodle video that blows up

rinse and boil udon noodles.
finely chop garlic and shallots, fryin a neutral oil. (start cold and heat or expect huge oil splash)
create a mix of chopped cilantro (I would add scallion/spring onion), sugar, msg, chinese five spice, chilli flakes
pour the garlic/shallot oil on top.
add dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, and soy sauce to taste.
add citrus of choice (lime/lemon/yuzu).
mix with noodles.
I think thats about 85-90% right

This is good advice for anything. Aim high, but dont aim for smth unrealistic. You’ll end up never doing it or failing and probably feel really bad about it or be hard on yourself. Dont stay in your comfort zone and plan to hike to the highest mountain. Take small steps
I think the lesson was more, there’s a difference between someone wanting to do something and a person who takes action to do it. So instead of just saying that you want something or want to do it take action towards your goals in order to achieve them.

Sounds like you've accomplished everything you wanted to then. Kudos. Now you can use your free time to help others fulfill their dreams, or even just help someone with chores or errands that are physically unable to themselves.

So I figured if I couldn't be any use to myself at the moment, maybe at least I could be of use to someone else. At my own expense, broke though I was, I volunteered to take meals for our local version of Meals on Wheels to shut-ins and the elderly and disabled. They were so grateful for not just the food but to say hello to someone for perhaps the only time that day. It felt wonderful, cost me gas and sometimes a fair amount of time, but when you don't know what to do with yourself, helping others can help keep you grounded and useful and anchor your consciousness in the real world.
