- Featured is the key game 17-year-old Gukesh D won which propelled him as the sole leader in the 2024 FIDE Candidates. His victory in the penultimate round against Alireza Firouzja gave him a narrow half point lead over Nakamura, Caruana & Nepomniachtchi. Gukesh D, India's #1 ranked chess player, would maintain that lead after the 14th and final round was complete. Gukesh finished with 9 points, and made history by becoming the youngest challenger ever for a world chess championship title. Gukesh D will soon challenge World Chess Champion Ding Liren.

Incredible spirit by Gukesh. The fact that he lost against the same player earlier in the tournament, after being in the winning position, due to time pressure. And then finding himself in a deja vu like scenario in the penultimate game, only to held his nerve and convert, shows his tenacity.
For me the most amazing part is when he said in the post match interview when asked a question, that for him, if he had to point out one moment when he felt he can really do it, was after his loss in the 7th round!!
Because after that loss he felt at his absolute best and that loss really motivated him to give his best!!
This speaks volumes about his mental resilience and his composure, and for me that is what separated him from others.
Delighted to see Gukesh win it. He’s such a humble, polite, likeable and gifted young man.
Computer era chess is suddenly extremely dynamic once more.
The mid to endgame diagnosis is beyond my pay grade.
It's remarkable just how mature and confident Gukesh's games have been. I am excited for the Liren - Gukesh match. Chess has been called the gentleman's game, while those who are in this world know that it's also filled with Ego and drama - but I feel like this matchup actually reflects this old sentiment.
Both carry a cool demeanour, but a tumultuous storm rages within them.
Maybe cover Fabiano-Nepo game too because it was quite complex and I couldn't understand how the computers showed win for Fabi and suddenly changed to draw without Fabi actually making a blunder. How is that possible ?
Seconded
yes please
That was phenomenal. Ding will have his work cut out to defend his title. Can’t predict the winner here.
This is my favorite chess channel among all. Really love the way Jerry explains the moves. But Jerry puts lot less videos than other channels.
Quality over quantity
Jerry, you are my favourite commentator!
Please be with us during world chess championship matches. Love to hear your analysis. Fan for 7 years or something.
Ridiculous how good these guys are
Wow, this is so well explained, why these player are top player. Thank you for your ability and willingness to do so.
This is really great analysis of the game and the best part is that the way you explain it, it teaches the viewer a lot about the game. There is so much one can learn from watching the video. I guess this is my first video, but I am subscribing. Your channel needs to be much more popular than the absolute rubbish like Gotham chess. It is absolutely beyond me as to why people watch that channel.
Jerry is the best in the business. Welcome to the club 😊
Still the best chess commentator on youtube, thank you Jerry!
This is my favourite chess channel...love you Jerry
This channel and ChessWisdom

😂 Legit High Comedy
I had some of your analysis many years ago and glad that I found your channel again. Very clear analysis that makes it very intuitive. Thank you.
Thank you. Clicking the subscribe button and bell icon is the only way to ensure you’re alerted to the videos I post. Otherwise it’s up to what YT’s algorithm decides to show you.
19:23 crazy mate threat out of nowhere
Very instructive, Jerry, thanks for that.
Hi Jerry your analyses are always a step above and beyond the others! Thanks for this! Will you be covering the world championship match by any chance? I'm really hoping you will! Take care now!
Thank you. Yes, I’ll be covering the games as usual. It’d feel weird not to. 😎
@@ChessNetwork I'll be looking forward to it! Lots of good WC commentators out there but your stream always has the comfiest vibes
@@ChessNetwork That would be awesome of you!
Gukesh stepped off the Miami Vice set for that thumbnail pic.
Gotta lot to look forward to in life.
great analysis as always, Jerry. If Ding can't remedy his surprising (and somewhat worrying) decline, we might just witness history and see the youngest world champ ever
People have bad times in their lives. He'll try to recover.
That is looking quite likely
Love your analysis as always Jerry! Looking forward to your coverage of Ding v Gukesh!
Good for him, very talented individual. Thank you for the coverage of this event!
So many stuff to take home in this match! TY GM!
Was hoping you would cover this game😊 We are lucky
hey, could you please cover the Caruana Nepo game??
Magnus laughingly said that if a Indian were to win, it would be a shock. After the tournament no comments from him. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's going to be a very interesting championship series.
Hi everyone, it's Timotheo! Good luck and fortune to You!
I was really hoping for Fabi but all credit to gukesh, I couldn’t do this stuff
Fabi's prime has passed. He'll never be a world champion.
@@abebuckingham8198 lmao he literally tied for second in this

Oh oh. Gen Z is going after Magnus and Caruana. Scarry!
thank you so much Jerry, and such an excellent word selection as usual
Gukesh wins the title! The teenaged world champion. Sorry Ding.
Ding has positive score againist gukesh, and also psycological advantage
@irfanyamashita7184 that's cause Gukesh is still young and improving, most of his opponents in the Candidates also had a positive score against him by the way.
@@irfanyamashita7184I doubt, he has a psychological advantage. What makes you think he has it?
@ChessNetwork I believe 14. Bc2 is prophylaxis against black pushing a4. The pawn is untouchable due to Bxe3 tactics, and even if there was no discovery, the e4 pawn might collapse due to dxe4 and Bg4.
Thanks for the video. You do a great job breaking the games down.
Superb game! And superb coverage, analysis 👌🏻
My rule of thumb when playing chess is, the less pieces on the board (especially the rooks) the more my king will try to centralise itself as and when I can.... Otherwise I leave him on G1 or C1..... And only move if I calculate a threat within a few moves ...... Man I love this game, and this channel 🥰
If you long castle you should play Kb1, helps against c file threats
@@kendragonesgamer3506 yh that's what I meant by a calculated threat, if I know the opposition wants to take the B file before castling, I go G1 castle (bishop depending), if not it may be a C1 castle followed by B1 depending on the pawn structure and if the oppositions black bishop is still on the board.... I speak from the white players perspective, assuming they still have control of the board... Dang I love this game, so many tactics and possibilities that completely change each move thats made.....
Exceptional performance from Gukesh in this tournament. It's very likely we will soon see the youngest WC ever.
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day!
great analysis!
Hard to guess the title winner. Ding hasn’t played enough lately to get a good feel
Jerry's keepin Late Hours😮😂😊
he’ll be 18 by may 😢

Gukesh has Lasker's Moustache. What else does he have?
Hi Jerry 👋🏼
How are you ?
Hope you're having good time

ding liren doesnt stand a chance. something went wrong with his play after becoming champ
i think he will resign from playing the WC

Whichever player Wins the World Chess Championship, They will be considered a REAL World Champion THIS time; I think that the entire chess world would get behind GUKESH and his Amazing Achievement at SUCH a young age....
And if DING wins, That will be TWO World Championships in a row!! *WONDERFUL

Ding seems to have suffered from Fischer syndrome (lost inspiration after winning the title). Gukesh is cool as a cucumber. I like his chances to take the crown.
Please do the fabi vs nepo game. Wanna see tale of the tape.
Make some videos from grenke chess!!!

India has a middle class of 200+ million with intense competition for university slots; a long history of English as a language of government, education and career advancement; engineering and IT as a means to advance yourself and your family; and chess as the means to train your mind to solve problems and find creative solutions. The final nail for Western dominance of chess is the culture: Desi's study together, share solutions and advance themselves collectively and individually.
Bh3 moves to f6. Why resigned ? What is thr follow up?
I discovered Ultra bullet over the weekend. So much fun.

As a Magnus fan im glad naka or fabi didnt win
that did not make any sense. It's not like Fabi or Naka have same amount if titles as magnus to have any consequences

Gukesh is a a cool customer. I had a fancy for Pragg before the tournament but was impressed by the interview given by Gukesh in the days before play began, he seems to have a great temperament. Looking forward to the match with Ding.
Hi Jerry 👉👈👋
Incredible effort by him. I thought it was going to go into tiebreaker but Fabi couldn't get the win.
Firouzja.. was not in shape this tournament
Lol
I'd love to know what's up with him in the last two candidates. Luckily, he still has a lot to try in.
Would much rather have seen Wesley so…
