Rest in Power, Robby. Your work and perspective on cinema has shaped me a great deal. I was seriously hoping in my own delusional way of making it fast enough in the film industry to have worked alongside you as a director, but alas, maybe another lifetime. Thank you for everything.
I think it would be interesting if you did a video on night cinematography: the challenges it presents, various strategies utilized, and how the switch to digital changed the game for shooting at night.
Hey man I just want to say that your videos are absolutely phenomenal. As a young and aspiring filmmaker I can say you're helping me out in learning the art and craft of cinematography and directing. If you could make a video on Gianni Di Venanzo I would really appreciate it. He's my favorite cinematographer and I would love to know how he creates his breathtakingly beautiful shots.
Could you do a video on Dante Spinotti? He worked with Michael Mann, so much of his best work stems from Mann's requests, but he's still a genius in his own right. if you're not familiar with his work, "Manhunter" (1986) was his first american film (and first collaboration with Mann). It's an incredible film so even if for some reason you can't make a video on him, you'd still be watching one of the greatest american films of the 80s.
Hi, i'm looking for a lot of movies that are in your video, i guess you put all the titles in the begin but its not in the order. Took me like an hour of researches trying to find wich movies goes with wich image, so please put the movie title somewhere on the frame ;) ! So ! What's the movie at 5:34 and 5:02 ? Thank's for you intresting videos !
Correct - so I was wondering why it was included in your video. I'm being a bit 'Comic Book Guy' but you see what I mean - why include it? Awesome series of videos BTW.
hope you do it and we can learn a lot more... till now i have gained lots & lots of knowledge from ( Understanding the Cinematography).. thank u so much

One of the best. This guy needs to be more known. Thanks for this.
You're welcome!
Perhaps you could look at Andrei Tarkovsky's cinematography. While not a DP himself his films have a distinct style that belong to him.
I really appreciate the time you take to make these, brilliant. Thank you!
You're welcome!
