Back then it seemed like nearly every film, blockbuster or not, had a classic, epic score. Explorers was no different, though it seems people overlook it too often. It’s always been a favorite of mine, so thanks for this!
I always loved this score, but man... that mix was epic. I lost my partner to cancer nearly 7 months ago. Listening to music like this reignites my sense of wonder and hope and helps me picture something fantastical happening and meeting her again someday. Powerful stuff.
Beautiful music for an inspiring story,Goldsmith did his usual magic with this one,but he added the extra spice. I think he liked this one in a particular way. A lot of people do NOT know about this film Mr. Nuytens, you do it justice in many ways with your talent. Most excellent!
Thank you. However I think the movie suffers from a very bad editing. And it is understandable. I read the story on how the movie was a failure due to the decision of the producers to rush its release before the movie was finished. I liked the first 45 minutes, then the last part was very poor. For exemple the scenes with the cop are completely useless with the actual edit while initially the cop had a more important role in the story. Removing him from the actual edit doesn't change anything to the story because he brings nothing at all right in this edit. Same with a lof of stuff (the scene with the alien singing during 10 minutes... a bit boring). Joe Dante said it, they did not let him finish the movie... it could have been so great but it ended up as a failure.
@@GillesNuytens Agreed,it could have been so much better. Joe Dante has been looking for the missing footage since then (I guess he wants to make a "Director's Edition") but so far to no avail. In an interview I did read back in the day it was hinted that the Cop was contacted by the Aliens"s father, but he never finished his own ship (something to do with his brother I think) and in the end, after the boys lose their ship he was to show them the one he was building back then. It was a bad thing that the producers wanted a "Summer Hit" and rushed it. But what we got is good enough,at least the music is fantastic!
@@xenomorphphantom8852 I didn't read the details but it sound much more interesting than what we got. The summer hit that became a summer flaw. I hope some of these businessmen would learn the lesson now (but I doubt it). Unbelievable that these footages are lost...
Thank you presenting these forgotten music scores from my teen years. It's great to have RUclips music instead to find the cassette or cd for your favourite music score. It was impossible to get soundtracks from a rural area where i lived in the 80s but now here we are today streaming the wonderful soundtrack scores uploaded by Gillies Nuytens...thank you
Yeah, at that time to listen to a soundtrack we had to record the end credits music with a tape recorder we put just in front of the TV speakers... Good old times.
This is glorious on like 47 different levels...and as a music buff...my ears allow me to hear this as the beautiful whole but also as each track is mixed with another I can hear each one individually playing the scenes each one is from in my mind...Well done good Sir...Well done...
This is great, really surprising the stuff here that is not in the official suite, like the beginning piano and following string section stuff. Thanks a lot.
@@GillesNuytens wait and you literally stacked/tracked everything and mixed it down? ... I was thinking that it was programmed with VST's matching the instruments in the composition... Like Ableton.. but it seems darn near impossible to get it so close matching as you did here-- and your additions are incredible, truly capturing the feel of the song!
Hello. Unfortunately not. All this music being under copyrights (even if it's my own edits it's still using copyrighted source material), making these available for download would put me in trouble.
I've never heard of creative conflicts between Paramount and Dante. As far as I know, that's the movie Dante decided to shoot. Where have you read about script changes imposed against Dante's will?

Thx! RIP River... lovely remembrances of a simpler time for me - dreaming looking out at the stars from my bedroom window
Same for me.
Same for me
I watched this movie with my kids many times. I am 76, so you know this movie was not for the young. See you somewhere, my friends. 😊
Same for me
When being a boy in the 80's was fun.
What was still was. 80's was the best time. I have pity for today's kids inside this sh*tty 2020's era.
The stuff dreams are made of.
SOO TRUE!!
❤
I have this film on prime love it and nice that someone uploaded this score ❤
Amazing film, blessed to grow up in the 80s

Sir, My Compliments on Another Beautiful Piece of Work.
So dreamy and a nice choice before bed.
Such an epic score for an under appreciated film. This was and still is one of my favorite films!
Long live the Thunder Road! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
AMAZING!!! Thanks for bringing back that 80's VIBE.....
Also a part of my childhood memories 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Awesome upload dude!! Great mix, from a great score! Jerry Goldsmith is becoming my favorite composer as time goes on.
What an awesome thing you did! It is such a shame that the Explorers soundtrack is never played at movie soundtrack live concerts :(
It's like what an epic 15 minute credit crawl would be like ! great soundtrack mix!!

Premium work, Man. Cheers!

Can hear an earlier score in it too..Supergirl.. composed a year earlier.
This is a fantastic extended version, I'm wondering what production software you used to match everything so wonderfully?
Hello. Thank you. I used Audacity, a free software.

I don't remember. I posted that 1 year and half ago. A simple google search would do the job I guess. If I found it, you'll find it as well.
