Lovely spot there Paul, how long has it been disused. I wonder if either of those reservoirs had narrow gauge railways when being built

There's no recored of any railway involvement, but then again very sparse information anyway sadly. We werent sure of the date it went out of use though. Wonder if it was the same time as big Barbrook.

It's just the colouration from the peat. I enjoy open swimming and that looks like a good spot.
I always use a 3/4 wetsuit and swim shoes and carry a dive knife just in case.

Great video. I love wandering all around that area. I've seen lots of people wild swimming in there , didn't realise it was a disused reservoir.

Great vid. Beautiful evening and stunning surroundings! I would imagine the water is brown due to peat, nothing nasty. Loved the drone footage too, and can see why it's a favoured spot for a swim.

It's a marvellous spot up there, you could have called in at the two stone circles while you were in the area. 🙂👍

Beautiful evening walk, stunning sky & drone footage. Very interesting walk with little bridges & steps to old farm machinery & pipes. Lovely Paul. ❤😊👍

Think I went past there on the bike a few years ago en route back to Chesterfield, had no idea it was an old reservoir
