The Boy Bands Have Won
New Album From Chumbawamba.
Listen close to this crooked mouth
For my story I will tell--o
Lived in Mexico by the name of Wenseslao Moguel--o
Left my home in Santiago
The heart of the city of Merida
Served with my brothers and sisters all
For the army of Pancho Villa
Stand me straight against the nearest wall
Line up your bravest soldiers oh
Ten good shots I'll take them all
They call me El Fusilado
The Federales captured me
Bound up my arms with wire
Officer comes he says "Take your aim --
Steady your guns and fire!"
Bullet holes all across my chest
Ripped up my shirt and my body--o
Heart beat on through the silenced guns
To the rhythm of life inside me--o
Stand me straight against the nearest wall
Line up your bravest soldiers oh
Ten good shots I'll take them all
They call me El Fusilado
Fell to the ground the officer came
One last shot to the head--o
Heard through the pain as he walked away
And left me there for dead--o
All went quiet so I crawled away
I wasn't giving up to the glory
Ten good shots I took them all
And lived to tell my story
Stand me straight against the nearest wall
Line up your bravest soldiers oh
Ten good shots I'll take them all
They call me El Fusilado.
A true story. Wenseslao Moguel was captured while fighting in the Mexican revolution in 1915 and without trial sentenced to face the firing squad, 'las sentencias al paredon'. After being shot by the squad, and despite receiving the 'tiro de gracia' (shot at close range by the captain), Wenseslao somehow survived. He managed to escape and spent much of his life touring the USA with the 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not' travelling museum.
Featuring the voices of Barry Coope, Jim Boyes and Ray Hearne (the No Master's Co-operative male voice choir). Видеоклипы
Happy 106th Anniversary to the real El Fusilado not dying and giving inspiration to this song✊🏼✊🏼
This song is Mexican AF as in its not just singing about a violent event that happened in Mexico
but its doing it with a happy upbeat tune.
Corrido's are the same way, they always sound happy and upbeat but its usually singing about really violent or sad stuff that happened.
you could say that El Fusilado got knocked down but he got up again. they're never going to keep him down
Shut up
Go to your room
Love it lmao!!
Like That.
Smart!
You dawddam right
This is disturbingly catchy.
EEEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLLL
Tristan Courter it is catchy. Not disturbingly tho
It is a great song i agree completely
Disturbing, or inspiring?
If anyone cares, 'El Fusilado' is Spanish for 'the Shot', as in 'The guy who was shot'. Multisyllabic nicknames are easier in Spanish.
Or "The executed one".
I was wondering what it meant cuz I know “fusil” is rifle in French and I assume Spanish too
Yes I believe it’s meant as “the Executed One”
@@15098D hi! I am lovely, just think "fuse" to ignite the powder for the flintlock rifle, most European languages have some kind of linguistic connection .... LOVE!
@@15098D hey bro, dont know if you still want to know, but "fusilado" means "the one who got shoot from a rifle", or "the one executed by a firing squad"
You bricked me up inside the cellar wall
Stuck in here with nothing at all
Except my jester hat from the carnivale
Where's the cask of amontillado?
what is this from?
@@jellyfishjones4741 The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe. I have a copy in my basement, why don't you come down and see...
*FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MONTRESSOR*
Ten good wines I tasted them all
They call me Il Ubriaco
This song came on my spotify mix today. I wasnt paying attention to the lyrics until the chorus. Then I had to restart it and actually listen. All i can say is holy fuck.
My new character in fallout is going to have 10 luck like "el fusilado"
Enny1205 lel
Dillon Otero me too
11, not ten. Ten to the chest, one in the head.
i like you
nope 10. 9 to the chest, 1 to the head.
Winceslao Miguel (aka "el Fusilado") was sentenced to death by Mexican firing squad. he survived ten shots including one point blank to the head intended to finish him off. It's unsure how he survived but he escaped prison and then lived a full life.
its really amazing that matpat not only educate us in every aspect of academics but let us play games that no teacher CAN DO.
I can't stop listening! Wenseslao took ten bullets and got up, and I've been felled by a song.
Why'd they take this off spotify???
I would also like to know
fr i was bummed had to manually download and add it
im pretty sure because the band is anti-capitalist or something? hearsay on my end and I'm too lazy to google it
Don't know, but they need to put it back on.
@@AnS-ov6nf I listened to the lyrics and enjoyed it. Otherwise I wouldn't have listened to it.
El Fusilado got knocked down, but he got up again. You're never gonna keep him down.
"I get shot 10 times by firing squad, but I get up again, you are never gonna keep me down"
Lmao
April 2024 apple iTunes took this album off their library. Wtf
thanks game theory, for this overly catchy song. i'll have this stuck in my head for weeks now.
*Insert bad El Fusilado joke here*
Thanks to QXIR that I found this song. It's AMAZING. IDK how I haven't ever heard thisssssss
Heard it years ago when I was watching Game Theory regularly, and he had placed this song at the end of the video. Just saw QXIR's video and thought the story sounded familiar, so I decided to look this up and thankfully I found this catchy tune again
@@spazmaticaa7989 What Game Theory video are you referring to?
@@ThreeThreeOneOne It's one of his older videos discussing the survivability of headshots in games.
Why doesn't this give Chumbawumba an award?
I think most people's first introduction to Chumbawumba was Tubthumping and then when they tried out other songs they found out they sounded nothing like that and didn't really know what to do with it which is a shame because most of their songs are pretty fantastic.
Warioman also they're pretty left wing, part of the anarcho-punk scene. I'm cool with that but it definitely wouldn't fly in mainstream media.
But yeah these guys also generally didn't care much about mas recognition.
Exactly, so it wouldn't even matter if they didn't fly in mainstream media, that's pretty much exactly what they'd be going for :P
Conocí a Wenceslao Moguel en Mérida Yucatán, y escuché de su propia voz el increíble relato de sobrevivir al fusilamiento en el pueblo de Halachó.
Me ha gustado mucho la canción.
Wenceslao Moguel met in Merida, and your own voice heard the incredible story of surviving the shooting in the town of Halachó
I really liked the song.
Thanks.
this song is catchy as hell
Someone micspammed this in TF2 and somehow, this guy must've had an overheal.
Someone, put this into a game trailer.
DEW IT
someone should
L4D2
naaaaaa dying light maybe
or the pre sequal
and the History told is totaly true based on the real facts.
I figured out the guitar tabs for this song. It can only be played on a classical, non-cutaway guitar, with a capo on the 15th fret: and it goes like this:
" "
There you go.
I just heard this song today but it has become a favorite. Thanks for uploading
Thanks for my new theme song.
Loved these guys growing up and their album artwork will ALWAYS be implanted into my brain.
Now that's what I call spite. Seriously though, if I were captured in war, I'd hum this and hope I can survive the firing squad just so I can sing this at the end of the war. I like spite.
Anyone here not because of game theory and just because it's a good song?
game theory introduced me too a good song
+Octonuggets To be fair, the only reason I found out about Chumbawamba, a band I now adore, is because Game Theory directed me to this song.
I am, I also own a chumbawumba cd
tubthumpingly good! :)
came from an ask reddit thread on how chumbawumba wasn't a total one hit wonder band, stayed to listen to the whole album
El Fusilado...The Shot. It adds a lot of meaning when you figure out what it means.
That's the direct translation but I don't think that's what it means. Fusilado means shoot, fire many weapons at once, Volly.
Apparently it's supposed to mean "The Executed one"
El Fusilado means "The Executed one", to be exact, its someone who got executed by a Fussillade, which is a squad of 10 men shooting at the same time, then comes Tiro de Gracia, which is an 11th shot to the head, shot by an officer, to make sure you dont survive.
Funny, damn you google translate!
Well, it might actually mean the shot but people take it as the executed one
Thanks, Qixr for sending me here! 😄
What an absolute badass song 🤩🤩👏👏
Thank you Matpat.
If it was not for him, what would we do?
sit around and be slightly less educated and alot less entertained
Yeah
I can hardly believe how good this song is.
everybody knows the one chumbawumba song and sleeps on this absolute fking BANGER
He got knocked down, but he got up again...
Love this song. I've seen this band 2 or 3 times now. I plan on going again soon. I love Chumbawamba. They are from Leeds like me ;)
this is actually a pretty good song.
favorite song i like how it tells a story in the form of a really good song
Wuenceslao Moguel, el ''Fusilado de Halachó''... en 1915.
El Fusilado. Took nine shots to his chest. One to his fucking head. And he still stood up. Walked home. And lived for anther sixty years.
I first heard this song from Game Theory fall out new vegas theory, and its been living in my head from that day
Harmonies ✨✨on point✨✨
Holy fucking hell what a badass
Great songabout great man!
Plő, thanks bringing me here
Just saw these guys at the Otley folk festival. They were amazing!
Yes both works wonderfully.
amazing , thanks for upload it
I LOVE THEM!
there needs to be a 1 hour or 10 hour version
Boy bands have won, and all the copyist, the tribute bands, the TV Talent show producers have won, if we allow our culture to be shaped by mimicry, either from lack of ideas or from exaggerated respect you should never try to freeze culture. What you can do is recycle that culture, take your older brother's hand-me-down jacket and re-style it, re-fashion it to the point where it becomes your own. But don't just regurgitate creative history, or hold art, music and literature as fixed, untouchable and kept under glass. The people who try to guard any particular form of music are like the copyists and manufactured bands, doing it the worst disservice because the only thing that you can do to music that will damage it is NOT change it, not make it your own, because then it dies, then it's over, then it's done.
The irony in me copying this message.
lol
And *The Boy Bands have won*
Sadly, they actually seem to have.
Rayman34128
F*ck boy bands.
@@Supahdave1000 They're welcome to their victory, boy bands aren't a new idea, they've been around for years. The worst example was the Sex Pistols in my opinion. They usually have dumb as shit fans and as those fans grow out of adolescent years they become people who generally don't listen to music. They fade right back into obscurity where they belong.
I get gunned down! But I get up again!
This is basically a real life example of never giving up.
Anyone here from Game Theory? This song is really catchy. I like it.
Kay Dragon Im here from Game Theory
Dillon Otero Awe yeah. Game Theory for the win!
lel
+KayTheDragon DarkBlade dude me too and i love THIS SONG SOOO MUch
+KayTheDragon DarkBlade pfheh ya got me
Recién de entero de la historia. soy de mérida, y me encanta la canción
Yolo Camotes?
I always love me a good a capella rendition :D
It's a reference to a video that brought a lot of people to this song, myself included. The video is an episode in a series called Game Theory. In the episode in question the host talked about how characters in videogames can survive a shot in the head, and referred to El Fusilado for proof that it is possible. He always end a video by saying "But it's just a theory, a game theory!"
i had this in my spotify liked songs, and realised i hadn't heard it in a while, so i hunted it down. its was removed on spotify:(
It's explained in the song. He was a soldier for one side of the war, the other side captured him, bound his arms, and fired.
Who cares how outrageous the song is, it's enjoyable! Ten good shots, I'll take them all~
now i know why fallout NV makes the charicter necks and cheeks look like that
What? No it doesn't? This has *nothing* to do with fallout.
LMAO I know what your talking about XD
catchy. I love it.
And people say Call of Duty isn't realistic. This guy says it is!
Then again this guy has a story line. :D
Ten shots would kill your character.
This guy was obviously very, VERY lucky, living through that, honestly.
Yngvi Leó Þráinsson no shit why do you think hes so famous. people make devices to kill other people and this man stood up to all the purpose of those devices. luck and will power can take you far. you just have to know how to ride your pretty pony. that man rode his luck pony all the way into the sun.
TheSlenderman I was just telling the person who I replied to, that you can't take 10 everyday and live, so I know why he's so famous.
i....LOVE you name.
0.00000001% holy shit that's SOO lucky....well that explains why he is so cheerful...its gotta be a requirement after such a low % of survival.
Jesus, these guys are no 1 hit wonder, they actually have some pretty good songs
This guy is a HUGE BADASS
ITS OVER 9000!!!!
This song is if Billy don't be a hero was sung by a barbershop quartet.
Yep.
Nuts now I have to listen to all of the songs to see if they're good
Song is so damn catchy!!
"click" "click" "click" "clap" "clap" "clap" "click"...
Pretty Catchy.
Me too
Badassery I will never forget.
Thanks game theory :D This song is amazing and I wouldn't have found it otherwise
Got me red handed!
yup
finally found this song again
it had to be done..... cool story bro
Am i the only one who wants to hear this song while playing a shooter game? :)
No
No
No.
No
No
If you guys dont know what its about. The song says it. Basically its about a man who was shot several times on the head but survived. He was in a war for the fight for Texas because mexico was trying to take it over. He fought with his brothers and sisters.
is my Grandfather wenceslao Miguel Herrera.
Moguel Herrera. sorry for the corrector
I like.
this song is so sad but i like it
I don't really see it as sad. He lived through it. It must of hurt, but he lived.
My second favourite Chumbawamba album, only second to Anarchy...
I'm here because of Game Theory
me too :D
You're not the only one.
yay mee toooo
:D
me too
Imagine an army of el fusilado clones, i bet they could beat any nation in a war
***** Ik, I was joking
Except for, wait for it, the mongols.
witherblaze THEY’RE THE EXCEPTION
NERDFIGHTERIA!
Midori "But yandere dev yandere dev, isn't it a bad thing to sing loudly about murdering people"Yandere dev gets a point for being good at cinema sins, and I bring this song up.
Yandere simulator musical. Lol
Midori? Having a good question?
*Ding from cinema sins*
Saki Miyu look up "yandere simulator" musical.
witherblaze
Ah. Now it makes sense lol
Saki Miyu also, let us not forget about you "idea" for kokona getting the tuition money. For she said "I should have never gotten saki in this"
Surprising how many people fit in this category...me included!
this is a great way of being a boss...
people point guns at me while im against a wall and shoot 10 shots... and i still live, like a boss
This guy is the real life equivalent to an action movie hero. Gets shot a lot, survives and leaves.
I don't know what game theory is. I don't know either how I manage to find music like this, but I like what I'm hearring.
...and still lives.
Wow I wonder what else the Ripleys travelling museum had!?
i was also sent from game theary
came here because i love Chumbawamba
This sort of reminds me of another song (Another Irish Drinking Song) Don't know why guess the way they are both just so damn catchy :D
and you are not alone
the only gametheory songs i thought were epic
1.el fusilado(fallout)
2.do a barrel roll remix(star fox)
3.bad medicine(legend of zelda, it was also the bonus point song)
i listened to this song at like 11, i have never been the same LOL i wish that were a joke.
