This song is so sad. I know the backstory though. For those who don't, the band went to a mansion and stayed there while they were recording, which happened to be haunted terribly, and Gerard and Mikey (maybe Frank) were having terrible dreams and they went on to talk about what hey saw while they were there and honesty it was pretty creepy. Anyways, thats what this song was written about. Kind if gives you a mixed feeling about it, ya know when he's talking in the beginning about what he saw...
These 12 year olds with all their Jeff The Killer comments are pissing me off. This is a very personal song Gerard wrote about all the things he's actually experienced. Hence his Alcoholism etc.
Lolliepuff the Cute Security Guard X'D some of the roleplay though, I mean Im not against it, just I wish if they were doing it that they would be at the very least literate and good *shrugs*
It just seemed so perfect, the right length and everything... I also have the "PICK UP THE PHONE!!!" instrumental from Bury Me In Black as my ringtone.
when seeing them on the black parade tour, their performance of this song hit my inner being and i've been powerless over their musicality and lyrical genius ever since. incredibly powerful stuff.
i've been listening to this song at night for the past week, because I figure if Gerard Way tells me to sleep, then I'll SLEEP (and no, I'm not one of those people who only cares about the lead singers of bands, its just that he's the one telling me to sleep)
seeing this band live for the first time back in 06, the black parade tour, when they played this song, i fell in love with their music. this song was so powerful, the musicality so strong, lights reflecting off of toro's guitar, was mesmerizing. went to five more shows, projekt revolution and 08 spring tour. always pit tickets. missed killjoys sadly. could slowly see their lack of enthusiasm and boredom after pr. tour. except of course for reading 2011 show. wish i could have seen that live. will always remember them at their best.
This band usually got describes as emo which is unfair because it doesn't sum up what the band looks for and which perspectives the members have always focused on! They stirred more genres and they made the sound flw energetic and personal as they were not willing to imitate any artist or to moan around! The success is the proper take of personality, it compels you to be far from the charts and if you don't love being defined mainstream you definitely need to spawn a weird sound! Being intimate and related to a restrictive crowd, proudly scaring mainstream fans off and unleashing the indie souls is the goal for a band whose aim is the spontaneous reactions of the public. I deem indie and alternative band as a reward to us, to those who still rely on music and I feel bothered when someone advises me to get into mainstram! It never represents the purity and the pleasure of music, it all looks feigned and blurred somewhat! If you poke around you can pick up so many deserving bands and you can get addicted to some interesting tunes! If you have been dominated by worthless music during your adolescence you can bring back your strength right now by jumping into MCR! Your ears will feel delighted, let's feed up with such a sturdy method!
rip haha but no I don't go around saying I'm emo and act stupid. MCR is my actual favorite band, they helped me through sixth grade (and I don't expect you to know everything but my year was worst then most) I'm not a cliche "only this the black parade and teenagers," I love given hell kid, sleep, na na na, Helene, and boy division are my favorite songs. D&p are nt profile b that's a photoshop where Dan and Phil's eyes are swapped so Dan looks soyless and Phil looks really femine (okay the be honest when I went to set my photo it was the most recent thing in my camera roll and I was to lazy to care) so I think I mat be an exception
what I hate about not being a native english speaker is that I always have to read the lyrics bc I don't understand them while listening and so comes that it depends on the lyrics if I like a song or not...but somehow MCR manages to always sing about topics that I feel right in the heart...
Mcr has been my favorite band since I was 9 I heard cubicles in the fourth grade and was blessed to have them, the have a very special place in my heart and I hope they all continue having long and healthy lives, mcr saved my life.
This song makes me think of my older brother, who is autistic and bipolar among other things, and what it was like growing up with him. I really feel like if he could voice what it's like being him through a regular person, it would sound like this. I could literally go through every line and directly relate it back. That doesn't make this a sad song, or happy, it's just kind of truthful.
This is the song I usually forget about, I don't remember getting it on my phone or that its there. but when it comes on... I always smile and know all the lyrics.
Tivian Engel Do I know you...? I'm just asking because everyone I know says I'm Cry. All because I can impersonate him, act like him, and think like him.
:) good points but im pretty sure she was talking about how she got scared and how the younger you are the more common it is to get scared by things :)
This is probably my favorite My Chemical Romance song. I've been having night terrors since I was 4, so it helps to know somebody else has had them & knows how scary they can be. Umm, bye.
This reminds me of The Murder House on American Horror Story Season 1 Mama reminds me of Tate from season Demolition Lovers reminds me of Violet and Tate's relationship and also Violet's suicide The Light Behind Your Eyes reminds me of Vivian's unborn child The should make a MCR version of that goddamn season
@00madbox00 apparently they were recording in a haunted studio and the whole time Gerard was having these crazy night terrors and he didn't get much sleep :(
As someone that really does suffer from night terrors and sleep paralysis, I find this song fitting to my everyday life ;w;That being said; would someone mind telling me the backstory as to who (or more) is telling the (possible psychiatrist?) on the recording they're having these night terrors? I keep finding mixed results online, and even though I've been in the fandom of MCR since 2007 (yeah, I'm old |D ) I just remembered about this song, and never really got to see the lyrics. Thanks!
+dana petty the story behind it is actually pretty dark since those recordings are highly distorted versions of Gerard's voice. he recorded those when he was having really vivid night terrors (mikey also had them) when they were making The Black Parade at the supposedly haunted mansion they were staying at. After Gerard went to the band and asked if they could add a new song onto the album and use the recordings
It's crazy how beautiful Gerard is... Personally and vocally.. like he's perfect lol. Will always be one of my favorite vocalists of all time
He's so understanding and caring too ':P
He's basically the ideal human.
I was like in a really sad mood, put on this song, saw *musicalness* and felt so much better thanks haha
finnieminniesister #musicalness
since it's almost 4am i should be sleeping. thanks mcr.
just sleeeeeeep
relatable
Haha!
@LYDIA JOHNSON Hahah good job!
seriously one of the most underrated MCR songs of all time
Emma M. So true

I remember hearing somewhere that famous last words was also based on that mansion
+BethIsANerd12 Gerard wrote it for Mikey because he was really depressed
ARGH been on a my chem fest for the past hour... so annoyed I've let myself forget how bloomin' fantastic they are!!
What a beautiful lullaby....
Talking and suddenly... MUSICALNESS ⊙0⊙
These 12 year olds with all their Jeff The Killer comments are pissing me off. This is a very personal song Gerard wrote about all the things he's actually experienced. Hence his Alcoholism etc.
Preach it!
(gets shovels) I'm ready for the 12 year olds with their Jeff the Killer crap...
Lolliepuff the Cute Security Guard X'D some of the roleplay though, I mean Im not against it, just I wish if they were doing it that they would be at the very least literate and good *shrugs*
Typical Addict ;) :D k then
What are u guys, 14? U not better
best songwriter , vocalist and man ever
This song made me rethink my life and accept that what I have I shouldn't hate.
I was really into the song and my feels were really strong then the picture of Gerard popped up and I lost my shit and why am I laughing so much XD
Your username screams "Special snowflake"
+Bard Pizzaro your comment screams "I judge people because i hate myself"
+Bard Pizzaro lmao its supposed to be ironic somewhat, i hate bonnie raitt
This was a lovely story...."I hate the ending my self but it started with an alright scene" ~MCR Disenchanted
Yes, because Musicalness is TOTALLY a word. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😁😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
+lizzie black Kinda sad that the person that made this didn't know the word 'instumental'.
JasontheDemon IKR
+JasontheDemon maybe he just wanted to be silly
brieann hayden or not.
Hey, being silly is a good thing. People r so serious. I think I'd do something like that to say 'why so serious mofos' to the world
for an odd reason every time i listen to this song, i feel as if im gonna cry cuz it just speaks to me in a deep part of me ;-;
Same, I find that listening to this while I have writers bloc really opens my mind
right???
I sleep to their music every night. I have Three Cheers, Black Parade and Danger Days on my iPod. Can't sleep without it. :)
I'm gonna go to bed with this song on
I do that all the time. Great song to fall asleep to.
I would, but I would probably just end up staying up all night listening to all their songs...
Hero of Time Ikr.
That's what I said but now it's 3:08am and listening to mcr questioning my existence.
Listening to all their songs is inevitable.
It just seemed so perfect, the right length and everything... I also have the "PICK UP THE PHONE!!!" instrumental from Bury Me In Black as my ringtone.

seeing this band live for the first time back in 06, when they did this song, i fell in love with them. powerful stuff.
this song makes me sad for some reason. well most mcr songs make me sad.
That's because you're not okay
Haha nice
cause its human race in a song.. we suck
+Sara Thank you for saying that
^ I hate you guys omg
play this song at my funeral
I Gotcha

No Problem
*"Wake up" screams play*
*Body rises out of coffin*
Jet Star thank u

*listening to this at **12:50** AM tryna fall asleep...... this is my favorite lullaby*
I fall asleep to this every night
This is my all time favorite mychem song

do not read ASOTM and then listen to this. tears will form.
TOO LATE
Ummmmm, what is the meaning of ASOTM???
+Miss Average a splitting of the mind
Why is this on a Christmas song playlist?
The jeff the killer remarks are bothering me. This is about what gee went through and it has nothing to do with jeff, like just stop.
Hm?
+Ally & Ash They're bothering me too. All I wanna do is burn the stupid story now so there won't be more fangirls .-.
Shayde vail
Yeah but this song isn’t about some overrated fictional character.

Beautiful
emo is short for emotional , but to bad those 12 year old emos ruin the fan base , you know the ones with Dan and Phil as there profile pic.
rip haha but no I don't go around saying I'm emo and act stupid. sorry for my inability to type
you said they weren't willing to moan around but have you ever listened to Destroya
When Gerard Way tells you to go to sleep. You GO to sleep
what I hate about not being a native english speaker is that I always have to read the lyrics bc I don't understand them while listening and so comes that it depends on the lyrics if I like a song or not...but somehow MCR manages to always sing about topics that I feel right in the heart...
This song gives me the chills. But it also makes me think of my own character and of corse Gerard. This is by far one of my fav songs. :D
yea, I'm glad we still have them :'(
"the hardest part is letting go of your dreams" thats kinda deep O.o haha i love it
One of the only bands that can make me get goosebumps and feel the emotion they put into their songs no matter how much I listen.
This song gives me chills x~x
Mcr has been my favorite band since I was 9 I heard cubicles in the fourth grade and was blessed to have them, the have a very special place in my heart and I hope they all continue having long and healthy lives, mcr saved my life.
This song is so beautiful, and sad. :(
This song is amazing and beautiful. I feel like this a lot, and this song really helps. I love it
This is probably the best thing I've ever read in my life.
the intro to this song (and the song itself) reminds me of the movie THE FOG!

Appreciate the good music they made, not despair that they are no longer
I love this! U earned a like!
This song makes me think of my older brother, who is autistic and bipolar among other things, and what it was like growing up with him.
