The Steve McQueen thing reminded me of an old Bill Cosby bit called 200 MPH. In it he talked about his love of fast cars and he talks about bumping into Caroll Shelby one day and Shelby says, "What you doing driving all them foreign cars? You got them Ferraris and Maseratis, you should be driving an American car! You're an American ain't you?" Long story short, Shelby has a car made for him that will do over 200 MPH with a little plaque saying "This car was custom built for Mr, Bill Cosby. It will do over 200 MPH, has dual everything and is faster than anything Steve McQueen owns"

Don't know if this interview was any good or not. Watched SC's first post-break monologue and decided to set him to one side, for a while anyway. Early in that monologue, an upward intonation hinted at an impending favourable conclusion, but it went south at the end. I would say that was not quite in the category of rabid dog-pack commentary that has beset US media over the last week and a half; but still, hard to stomach.
