  • From March 1, 1987, here is the sign off sequence for KTVE, the NBC affiliate for El Dorado, AR and Monroe, LA. All copyrights acknowledged. The sign off begins with an extended Come Home to Channel 10/Come Home to KTVE station id from the era. The technical information is played over a customized Let's All Be There sequence featuring the corresponding affiliate package that was used as a news theme for several stations including WRBT in Baton Rouge and KCRL in Reno by Tuesday Productions. The sequence ends with the Aim High America national anthem used by numerous other stations, such as KLAX in Alexandria, KTBS in Shreveport, and WYES in New Orleans. In this particular airing, the channel 10 signal then picked up the CBS Nightly News Nightwatch as aired on current sister station KLFY in Lafayette, LA.

    While WPTV NewsChannel 5, West Palm Beach's NBC affiliate, might have stayed on all night during my childhood, this "Star-Spangled Banner" video played at 4:58 a.m., seven days a week. It would follow "NBC Nightside" on weekends and "AgDay" on weekdays. On weekdays, the anthem was followed by a ten-second promo for NewsChannel 5, followed by "NBC News at Sunrise."

    Right after the KTVE Channel 10 (Now NBC 10) sign off for the NBC El Dorado/Monroe/West Monroe affiliate, right after the end of The Star-Spangled Banner from the United States Air Force and color bars when their transmitter is shutoff will be a blurred picture signal from KLFY-TV 10 in Lafayette, which is now KTVE's sister station and is owned by Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. a Nexstar Media Group Company.

    The revised KTVE Channel 10 ID should read El Dorado - Monroe - West Monroe, and the original KTVE sign off has NBC's N and 11 feathered Peacock logo, right before it was pared down to its current 6 feathered Peacock logo, which remains on NBC to this day.

    This sure is an action packed sign-off: interior/exterior studio shots, graphics used to transfer between scenes. It's quite the effort. But I notice on the Aim High SSB film, it's a rather faded print of the film.

    Hey do you know what seal of good practice did KTVE use in the 1980 sign off?

  • @realJoshiBOI

    This was pre-1986. NBC introduced their current peacock in 1986.

    • @jacky9br
      @jacky9br  6 лет назад

      No, it was from 1987. It has the current peacock and the first image campaign using said peacock "Come Home to NBC." KTVE seemed a tad behind with updating logos and stuff. There is a station ID on RUclips from 1983 that features the trapezoid logo from 1975-1979, even though KTVE actually was an ABC affiliate during that time (from 1974-1981, it was a full time ABC affiliate), so it was odd they had a station ID featuring a logo that aired during the period they did not show NBC programming.

      This sign off was REALLY produced in 1985

    • @jacky9br
      @jacky9br  6 лет назад +2

      yes, KTVE kept stuff for years, hence why this sign off lasted through at least 1987. Regardless, it's quite slick and well produced. WVLA in Baton Rouge used the sign off music as their news theme until 1987--it was an affiliate package correlating to the "NBC Let's All Be There" campaign from 1984-1985.
