Sitting with Jenny on the couch. I didn't want that moment to end. I wanted Jackie to just be able to enjoy his time with her, tenderly holding her. I just knew there was horror waiting for him, and this moment of peace and tranquility was all he had left to cherish. So heartbreaking.
I beat this game when I was in high school. Once I got to the ending, I couldn't believe how phenomenal this game was. I'm now in college. This game has stayed with me for so long. I'm grateful for it
I'm also in college and I'm playing through it again since middle school. Forgot how depressing this game is at points and now I can understand the greater story.
I really wish they would remaster or port the 1st game to newer consoles or PC. right now its just a pain to try and play (360 is in storage, and psnow streaming kinda sucks), would love to stream the full game and experience it again. although i think there has been a breakthrough in emulating it recently

Just finished this game for the 5th time on 10 years. Almost made me cry, this is really a masterpiece... I carried it all my childhood, and now i'm 25.. melancolic
my favourite of all time without a doubt, i wish i owned my playstation 3 so i could play through it for a 4th time. there'll be nothing coming close to this for me - the story was just incredible
I'm bloody fifty & still yhis story & soundtrack still haunts me.Gusstaff Greffberg did an astounding job on this soundtrack.Love this game for the rest of my days.
This song just reflects so perfectly what Jenny meant to Jackie. She was the only good thing in his life. His 'saving grace'. They grew up together in the orphanage and had been soulmates ever since. Then she was taken away mid game. The moment she died gave a new meaning to 'The Darkness'. Because of that, Jackie Estecado has to be one of the most intense and interesting characters in gaming.
The music really helped pull at the heart strings, going through the Orphanage was sad but when I saw Paulie kill Jenny my jaw dropped and eye's became a waterfall, I paused the game to take a moment. Plus the voice actor for Jackie in the first one was great.
The rage that I felt was honest to god the scariest thing I had ever felt. In that moment I said screw being a hero I am gonna murder every last one of them and send their souls screaming to Hell
"Have you ever loved someone who was so beautiful and pure, you couldn't bear to show them your own darkness? And that you would swear til the day death was knocking at your door, you'd be dead before they saw you so heartless." Haha kinda dark but hey, a bitter defeat makes one sweet victory and I couldn't help but add my own touch to that quote!
I love even after Jenny's death in the orphanage which is sad enough at it is Jackie goes back to the orphanage and sees flashbacks adding just how important jenny was to him. And makes you care ever so much more for the characters.
I was playing The Darkness 2 and I felt the love between them both. I didn't let Jenny go until the song was over. This is probably one of the saddest love stories I know...
Personally, I didn't like the gameplay that much in the Darkness, but this game had the best plot ever. Never before in a game have I become so emotionally attached to a character like in the Darkness, and never before have a character death felt like such a stab in the heart. Truly, this game was a masterpiece in its own way.
I agree with every word you just wrote down... But i had a game before this one and a girl.... Prince of Persia Sands of Time.... Yeah it is those two for me... And i am talking about the PS2 and PC version not Gameboy.... I never played the gameboy version of Prince of Persia Sands of Time, i still will...
Max Payne Weird. Just came form the Max Payne theme, because I bought the game during the steam sale, and was reminded of how great Max Payne's soundtrack was. That in turn reminded me of The Darkness, and here you are. Small world.
Its backwards compatible now so I'm going to play thru it again. One of the more memorable games I've ever played, although for me it's the atmosphere and story that take over and not as much the gameplay
This music just breaks my heart...it was such a sweet, tender scene. You could tell how much Jenny and Jackie cared about each other. In the middle of an unfolding horror story, it was nice to see a moment of peace. A moment that was all too brief.
This game is pretty much the only reason why i haven't gotten rid of my xbox 360, and probably won't until it breaks. One of the experiences i cherish and reminisce year after year.
this is the only game where i legit cared about the main characters. everything Jackie went through, Jenny's death scene, and especially the end scene of the game. i mean fuck, this is the only game with an ending that makes me cry uncontrollably (or at all, besides the "Reject The Asylum" ending of the second game) and this song doesn't help, lolz. even when bits of this song would play throughout the actual gameplay i couldn't control myself. second game's good, but legions behind the first game. i really hope they make a third game (with same style of music as epicly beautiful as this); and i REALLY hope Jackie brings Jenny back and they live happily ever after. i don't want to be sad when i play this series anymore. anyone agree?
***** John Pendleton Jr I totally agree with both of you. I've never been impacted by a game like The Darkness. I still remember going back to Chinatown after Jenny's death and hearing this song. I remember ringing the doorbell and hearing the echoes from when she was still alive. I remember so many heartbreaking memories from this game, and it's that heartbreak that pushed me to go through one of the greatest storylines I've ever experienced in video games.
I agree, it was a very...Emotionally gripping story line. with characters that immersed you into their world and made you feel what they felt. Which to me, is a very hard thing to do as a writer. The darkness pulled it off beautifully and The Darkness 2 was equally just as gripping.
MetaspudgeGMV's All too true, i have to dig deep to find a game that provoked a teary eye like darkness 1 as well as being a superb game. Bioshock 3's story and walking dead are the only ones that are on par

This game deserves to be experienced by the new generation. AND to be made into a live action series. I would LOVE for the darkness to come into light (no pun intended.) and be experienced by all. This was such an impactful game for me as a kid. I enjoyed every second of it, and when the sequel came out, I went nuts. I would definitely play the remake of this game if there was one. I don't even care that the games are nothing like the comics, I prefer the games anyway.

i once had a friend who looked like"jenny" whenever I hear this song it reminds me of her. idk if shes even alive but still, i lost her just how jackie lost his girl.
THIS is making me think about two moments that broke my heart one when Paulie killed Jenny as she said 'Jackie it's not your fault' and the moment when Jackie went back to her apartment and went inside and you heard Jenny spoke again only as a memory and the darkness laughed at that this music makes me wish Jackie and Jenny could have just stayed home and kept having that special moment together

But given the fact that Jackie either cant tell her about the Darkness. Or that she wont even believe him when he tries to tell her that he is a hitman.

He is miserable the entire run, exactly as it should be.
I've played only the Darkness 2 on pc. But by what i heard Darkness 1 beats the crap outta the second game. Well i loved the second one, i'm going to buy both games for PS3 and play one after another at night.. Such an incredible franchise.
I really love this song I best it and I remember every moment Jenny appeared In the game. Every time I play this game it takes me a whole to go on after the last moment you see Jenny alive and happy in her apartment
This is one of the few games that shows that modern games can still have a sense of artistic quality as well as be emotionally charged. I wish that other games would follow its lead. It really is a shame this game wasn't as big as it should have been.

Ironically, I played this while I am 21 years old
I really love this song I best it and I remember every moment Jenny appeared In the game. Every time I play this game it takes me a whole to go on after the last moment you see Jenny alive and happy in her apartment
My God this tune got the feels
This is one of the few games that shows that modern games can still have a sense of artistic quality as well as be emotionally charged. I wish that other games would follow its lead. It really is a shame this game wasn't as big as it should have been.
