    It's so much fun! I am not a native speaker, and I need to work on my vocabulary. This way of memorising seems to be working perfectly. You mentioned the book you read when you just started practicing memory technics, what was its name? Would be nice to explore more.

      Hi, thank you for your comments. The first book I read was called Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer. Good luck and keep at it, you can take these memory techniques really far.

    Abjure - belief (b-leafs) - I see a jury judging a person doing situps with over-exaggerated 'rips' and the ab-jury is rating them with leaves with Bs on them. (Maybe the ab-jury are a bunch of yellow jackets with yellow jackets on). You can see bees or Bs. You can be the person doing the situps and 'feel' your abdomen ripping open (see guts and organs). The more senses involved the better you will remember.

    Great strategy! Just a quick question: What should we do if a word has multiple meanings?

      Simply use a seperate image to describe each menaing. Attach each meaing image as a story / short video onto the image for the word, in a way that shows the meanings seperately. For example, if the image for the word has a person doing something, maybe one meaning image attaches to their head and the second meaning attaches to their foot. When you revise it, make sure each meaning appears to you seperately - if they dont, add more seperation to each part of the story.

    Works great, but I'm actually not a native English speaker and do not know the meaning of den. So I cannot invent that by myself. But instead I like to listen to your analogies

    Good for sat ,but wil this strategy work for normal conversation,if i want to improve vocabulary for both in general and sat

      Hi Ahmed, good question. Absolutely!
      I am always looking to improve my vocabulary (which is why I do this with sat words in the first place).
      Over time you will find yourself using the newly learned words in your writing and everyday life. But it is important though to go back over the words and meanings a few times over the following few weeks after the first memorization (and use the images/story when you need help to remember the meaning).
      Memory techniques help make the initial learning to go faster. Review helps you learn them for the long run. Using something like Anki as a tool is great for this - you just put the words in your phone and they will show up for you to review the meaning on a spaced schedule. This helps the words to move to your long term memory where you will use them in the normal manner. Hope that helps! anything else please just ask :)

    Everytime I search for meaning of a specific word, the definition has other words I dont even know which makes it difficult so I have to search that word from the definition just to understand it.

    • @Anastasia_Woolmer
      @Anastasia_Woolmer  3 года назад +2

      Hi Kurt, you can still use this technique it just can help to 'build it up'. Start with the words from the definition you don't know and learn them the same way shown in the video. When you are comfortable you know them (in a week or so) then move on to the next level words. It will take some time but you will be building up a very large vocabulary of new words over time. Hope that helps :)
