We use Evan Moor for all subjects except history and math. It's so easy and simple, the kids like them because everything is already organized for them, ready to go.

I agree, they make it very simple, particularly if you lean to more classical and/or traditional homeschooling. And, honestly, even if you're not "into workbooks," I think the short and sweet approach that Evan-Moor has to different topic areas makes it easy to use them to supplement or reinforce other educational methods. Thanks for watching!

I used Daily 6 Trait Writing for some remedial help for my oldest when he was struggling with writing. A couple of the higher-level ones gave him quite a bit of progress, and more understanding. I only wish Evan Moor had high school level materials! 🤓

By the way your video is so nice to watch because of your calm, comforting voice. You are so informative yet right to the point.

I’m so glad! I wish I had been mire clear about the 5th day writing assignment, which really rounds out the curriculum. Thanks for watching!

You mentioned that it's a 4 day writing program. However, I purchased the 2nd grade level and it actually goes up to 5 days, where the 5th days is a writing prompt related to day 4 page. Is this not present in all the other workbooks? Thank you for taking the time to respond back. I truly appreciate it.

Yes, I realized that I misspoke after the video aired! The perils of initial flipthroughs. I described the 5th day writing in the description box. Thanks for watching out for errors and updating us all!

Thank you so much for your suggestions, it's been a huge help! I like to know if you use any other writing book to supplement your student’s writing? My goal is to have my kindergartener to be able to write a paragraph by the beginning or middle of 1st grade.

We use Hewitt Homeschooling’s Lightning Literature, and we love it. 🤓

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any of their science books (specifically the Skill Sharpeners series) that you could show?

Thank you for the review! Is it acceptable to dictate for the child at this grade, or is the material meant to be used by children able to write independently? I have a young six year old about to start 1st and want him to enjoy writing and not be intimidated.

I think dictating is a great idea if your child isn’t comfortable with writing yet. No matter what age, I think much can be learned through discussion, even in workbook form. 🙂

Is this a supplemental resource or a full writing curriculum?

Can a child jump in at any grade without prior use?

I may not be the best person to ask, as I haven't seen this particular workbook in any other level yet, but I think they are designed to be grade-level appropriate and do not specifically require prior levels. I believe that if you child reads and writes at grade level, they should be able to jump in without any issues.

Don't forget about Day 5 of each week with the actual writing assignment (writing prompt) that has the student apply the skills they learned from the previous 4 days! We did the entire 1st grade book without my student doing ANY of the actual writing assignments! I kept wondering why there wasn't any actual writing - ummmm yeah I needed to actually look at the teacher guide. HAHA ;)
I didn't know about the bundles! Thank you for sharing that!

Purposeful Homeschool I know! I saw it and mentioned it in the beginning of the video, but as I flipped through I forgot again! Whoops! Lol!
