I've been an Aggie fan since the mid
to late 90s! I miss the days of the Wreckn Crew defense with the likes of Dat Nyuen, Quentin Coryott, Sam Adams, Terrance Kiel...I can go on and on. I never thought I would ever see the A&M program being mentioned for having the number 1 recruiting class ever. Man how the times have changed. I think things starting turning in a positive direction after the Johnny Manziel era. He helped with the overall brand of A&M and the improvement of facilities. Now with a championship level coach in Jimbo Fisher being in charge, it's awesome to see the development of the program grow. The future is certainly bright in College Station and I'm so excited. Whoop!!!

Texas Aggie here. I hate to say it but there’s always a good chance that there’s gonna be another injury at QB. I certainly hope not, but if there is, we’ve got better choices this year for a back up. Gig ‘Em Aggies!

Good discussion. Max does have sec experience. Athletic enough. Higher level of athleticism with King, but has almost no experience. He is a wild card. Starting King is a gamble. Aggies need solid experience. If King starts, he needs to develop quickly in the non-conf schedule. I know this is a new show, but add video asap. Will make it much better.

I agree with your analysis on the QB situation. Max Johnson is a solid QB but isn't special. Haines King has more mobility and probably has a better arm.

I think king is more likely to win us games of his playmaking but I think King also is more likely to throw them away with poor decision making. So I think we should go with Johnson and count on our defense to win us games and follow Georgia’s footsteps. But I think jimbo will end up making the right choice

    1) the stats you quote on Johnson don't line up with your claim. If he threw behind the receiver a lot his interception numbers would be terrible.
    2) King will start because Jimbo is hard headed and won't see Kings bigger risks. Last year King was the lessor of the evils.
    3) Weigman could be the best option.
I just hope King is on a short leash.

You never know the answers to the points you made here until a real game. Wait until the QB has to bring the team back in a two minute situation or under adversity to win a game or score points.

It may be decided by the strenth of the OLO pass protection. If its good its Johnson, if it starts out a problem then King's mobility makes more sense. Max is more accurate and throws the deep pass better and A&M wants to go down field more this year.

Johnson is much more polished, but Haynes King had the higher ceiling, and the X factor

I think Jimbo will have both QB's playing in game 1. Max might get more playing time, but Haines will be crowned the starter for game 2. Max has a slower throwing motion. (A DB's dream !!!). With Max's overall playing experience, he should be more proven than what he is showing on the field. If Calzada got me to 8-4 last year, I would expect more winning opportunities with King.

Maybe calzada woulda been a better option than king.

It’s gotta be Max Johnson. King is a firecracker that could go off at any time or could be a dud. Johnson is a consistent machine who will go out and keep things solid without being amazing. I’d suspect that Johnson wins the job and leads A&M to 9-10 wins and has a very good year

I think Haynes gets the game 1 start with Max right behind ready to go. Unless Max has a phenomenal fall camp or Haynes just doesn’t compete well, I think Jimbo believes Haynes can be better than he showed in 21, make better decisions than he did that Kent game, understands the offense, and brings that X factor to the offense. But I also think Max isn’t far behind in anything. Max didn’t make a lot of mistakes, but he didn’t have any crazy good games. 4 games with a completion percentage over 60% (McNeese, Miss St, loss to Ole Miss, and ULM) despite only 6 interceptions. In Haynes start against Kent, he went 62% and we all thought he played terrible. I think Jimbo carries Haynes in hand like a rifle but keeps Max in holster ready to shoot if Haynes isn’t firing well. Either way I think we’re fine. I also expect Weigman to see the field. Has to unless Haynes really needs extra snaps.
TLDR, Haynes gets the start and if he were to be unable to move the ball, or starts making bad decisions, Max is there to clean it up and take us home.

Ease up on the short focal length and look at the camera. You are a pretty good storyteller but trying to be too different and it detracts from the goal

Jimbo will start Max Johnson , King was better at a quarterback in high school but Johnson has more experience playing in Sec. Yes King is way faster but less accurate at the moment. Johnson put up 2800yds with 27 TD's last yr. That is amazing numbers for the Sec. Johnson will start while King will get playing time while Weigman will develop, get more experience and Blast off in the 2023/24 season.

HA, what most people think means ZERO, as we all know. none of the people are at practice, in position rooms, watch film, so they and the coaches see, know, different things are the coaches have the pressure, fans have zero.
