    When it comes to the new 2024 ‪@rockymountainbicycles‬ Altitude, the brand’s claim is for riders to “Charge harder. Go faster.” With their ground-up redesign of this 160mm travel enduro mountain bike, Rocky Mountain set out to design a bike whose goal was to help you secure that “Top Step” on the podium, or just demolish your local steep trails with confidence. In our latest Tech Check installment, we’ll be taking a look at the newly updated and very attractive Rocky Mountain Altitude.

    Two hot takes: 1) Loam Wolf should only review VPP bikes with a coil. 2) I think most trails are suited to bikes with a 1250 to 1260 wheelbase, regardless of rider size. I think its going to become more popular for experienced riders to downsize on these enduro bikes to get the desired ride feel but also maintain agility.

      Biker's Edge review said it is a step above the Megatower on the downhill, but maybe doesn't climb quite as efficiently. BE made it obvious that the new Altitude is not an efficient pedaller, but is very active, so will hold traction up tech climbs.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 3 месяца назад

      Except for a completely different riding position, the Altitude is high stack, less crazy reach, more like a DH bike where the Spec Enduro is one of the lowest stacks in the class and a fairly long though not insane reach.

  • @mrvwbug4423
    @mrvwbug4423 3 месяца назад +1

    So I'm guessing certain David Weagle patents expiring last year let them use this suspension again. Interested to compare it to my 2023 Altitude. I've actually found mine to ride quite plush but still extremely controlled, not stiff at all. it's definitely longer and slacker than mine, though not to a crazy level. One of the reasons why I got the Altitude was it is an absolute weapon when pointed downhill without the gigantic reach or barge like wheelbase of other enduro bikes, it's a great bike for "enduro bike as your only bike". I also see they stuck with their trend of very high stack height, which is great.

    • @TheMirrorVision

      This is their version of VPP, not DW-link, but I think you are right that we'll see other manufacturers creating their version of DW in the coming couple of years.

      Hey what's up. This is a sweet bike for sure. I really really like the gloves. BUT, I have three pair and one of the three has torn/split at the seams at the palm/thumb area. OR has a great warranty department but feel it worth mentioning. As much as I love them, we're waiting to hear back in if we got an early sample or this is an issue. Worth noting, i like to wear gloves that rea really tight, so, that extra strain could be causing some premature wear.

      @TheLoamWolf  3 месяца назад +1

      Well if you want to race DH, get a DH bike. Provided that your terrain and courses warrant that. If you want to race enduro as well, then you're pretty much forced to pick one bike that will do both, that means an Enduro bike since you can't really pedal a DH bike! haha. Good luck and enjoy the season!

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 3 месяца назад

      Optimally, you would get both, but if you're looking to race both and can only afford one bike get an enduro bike. If you have a big discount on RM and Specialized I would still take the Altitude over the Enduro. Maybe last years Altitude since you can get them at huge discounts (I got a 2023 Altitude C70 for $5200 last year, that was a nearly $8000 bike at MSRP).

Surprisingly, in some areas the bikes do share some very similar feelings and traits. We look forward to putting more miles on this bike with more riders to answer that better in the future.
