Remember going in to record basement (reading) on a saturday morning straight after a night of doves, and trying to hum this tunes to the girl behind the counter fair play, she knew exactly what it was....went home and hammered it untill sat evening for another mental dove session. >.< so many good times.
@webbstar303 fair call man I started djing in 97 and got this off some dude selling his old vinyl then and I'll always treasure it, and I've always loved the old hardcore.
Classic riddim! This used to get caned on the pirates. I didn't start raving until summer '92 (what a year rudeboy!), but I remember this still getting played out at a few raves!
@@replecon1408 Yeah, good tracks don't fade away quick! In those days the music was progressing so fast I was barely hearing tracks from late '91 / early '92 still getting played by the end of summer '92 though! That era was wicked for rave music, hearing it evolve and progress!
@@webbstar303 the synth frm charly is heavly sampled, maby thru a roland w30 16bit on this tune. Most producer's at the time where doing it , including liam howlet. Listen to the synth on charly ( alley cat mix) you will hear what i mean.
@@joenoonan9255 Yes your right, Charly by The Prodigy was sampled for this track. That being said, the phrase "heavily sampled" implies that whole passages of the track were sampled, when in fact just one note was taken. Sampled with an Akai S950 12-bit.
Such an amazing track, up there in the top 5 of the era for me. I'm always amazed that it doesn't appear on more 'greatest' lists. I see a couple of comments from Portsmouth - was it a South coast thing? It was DEFINITELY an Isle of Wight thing!
Some of the "greatest lists" contain too many of commercial tracks. For example. despite liking a lot of prodigy stuff, no one thinks Charly is a top hardcore track like some of these lists claim....id take "Your Love" over Charly any day of the week.
@@shanedpain7734 thanks. I reproduced the track using the 'original' samples which were mostly Prodigy, there is the Moby Go break in there as well. I agree Prodigy probably used Alpha on the original tracks or maybe sampled Joey Beltram who used the Alpha!
Absolute blinder. I remember spinning this out a few times and it smashed it. I'm pretty sure my copy has a different design though without the natty dreads.
THERE AIN'T ENOUGH PILLS IN THE WORLD
