Interesting discussion on Kyrgios. Maybe because I’m getting older, but my thoughts are that him getting a highly sought after commentating gig was a horrible decision given the embarrassment and joke he has been throughout his career. Many other tennis players share his sentiment. Freedom of speech/ideas is critical for any healthy society. Fact is that Sinner is now the golden goose and is protected with special treatment and privileges.
PS. Nothing about his story and special treatment make sense. You’re telling me a world class physio was dumb enough to use clobestol spray, and was even dumber to to massage Sinner without gloves when he has an open wound and Sinner has scratches/sores/openings too? This is basic medical code a common nurse knows, let alone a works class physio. He would have learned this in his first day medical class. This is serious medical malpractice, complete negligence. I’m sorry folks but this just has to be said. People do NOT watch tennis because of Nick Kyrios. They watch it despite of Nick Kyrios. Record breaking crowds at the US Open are not due to Nick Kyrios. They may be due to a couple of other players, but he is not one of them. Not even close. Media coverage corresponds with this fact. If Nick Kyrios went on to sell suits, the game would go on to the growing cheers of enthusiastic fans without a single thought about the guy. I think about the ranking of difficulty of draws at slams there has been some mixing of method of doing this. One thing is who you are faving in the draw by rank and another how they played the actual match. Djokovic and Medvedev at the AO by ranking would be similar to Zverev and Sinner at the French. Last year people said Sinner had an easy draw for the semi at Wimbledon but that was based on ranking of the opponent not how well they played. Safin was playing very well then but that was not taken into account. Tiafoe at Wimbledon played well but for ranking he was not in the top 20 so should be an easy draw for Alcataz by the same thinking. Ranking before play starts or quality of tennis after they have played creates different rankings.

In terms of memory, it is a clear outlier to other points and is why I think it lingers in minds longer. Along with that, when you double fault - it is 100% your fault lol.

He had an easy draw up to SF (yes, Tsitsipas this year was unremarkable, even on clay), where he faced a non-clay specialist who was struggling physically (but this time the "context" doesn't seem to matter) and then he went to beat the biggest choker in today's tennis in the final. Medvedev still played very well in the final and fought till the end. But somehow it's a miracle he won two sets. He might have had to be tired, but he certainly didn't collapse on court. Vomit is a biohazard, and yes it was nerves but there was no way to be sure at the time it wasn't flu or something contagious, and although you could say "who does it affect aside from Jack?", there's the possibility of a ball bouncing in it, and at the point the ballkids and his opponent are at risk. It's astounding how you downplay Sinner's dominance on HC and on tour in general this year.
You said his record is so impressive compared to Alcaraz this year only because he went on a tear last year after the US Open. But that's just not true. He had early exits at both remaining Masters 1000 tournaments. Even simply looking at the race this year, he has 50% more ranking points than Alcaraz, 9000 against 6000! I'm not sure that's small.
When asked about the fact he only had marginal losses, stretching matches to the maximum number of sets even when defeated, you come up with stats from Alcaraz or Federer never losing in straight sets to make I'm not sure what point. Sinner's stats was not about not losing in straight sets. Federer lost in 4 to Nadal at RG in 2005, not in 5. Not wanting to take anything away from Federer's greatness (and anyone would have lost in straight sets to Nadal at RG back then), but that wasn't the point of the question. Alcaraz in 2022 did only lose in straight sets in October to Goffin, but he had lost in 4 to Zverev at RG and to Sinner at Wimbledon that year. So that doesn't apply either.
The same can be said about the question regarding the Slam draws this year. Somehow, Sinner's had the least tough run/path. But the question was about the draw, and you seemed to misinterpret it again. Sinner as the top seed drew #3 and #5 in two consecutive Slams! If that's not a tough draw, I don't know what that is. I'm not even sure this has even any precedents in history.
I have the feeling that somehow Alcaraz's losses or inferior accomplishments this year are always "circumstantial", whereas little is said about Sinner's mental struggle due to the ongoing investigation possibly affecting his clay+grass season. That wasn't circumstantial, I suppose.

How in the world can you have watched the intro to Monday Match Analysis this week and think I downplay Sinner's hardcourt dominance? “Alcaraz has not made a non-Indian wells final on a hard court since Cincinnati 2023.” This feels like just a bad faith argument. For one, he made a USO SF where he lost to Medvedev (top 5 hard court player) and an AO QF where he lost to Zverev (top 5 hard court player). In both cases, if he had a better draw like Djokovic did at USO, he would’ve made finals or semis, he just played the difficult opponents earlier. So setting the bar at finals is already arbitrary. We can also look at Turin SF where he got blitzed by Djokovic, but Djokovic also gave Sinner a beating right after. Had Alcaraz played, say, Medvedev instead, he makes the final at Turin, the fastest hard court on tour. So again, luck of the draw.

I agree with you. He is very honest. He portrays himself as a clown because he's a clown 🤡

While I disagree with Sinner being let off easy, Gill never had any issue with Kyrgios's statement there. It was only with the Anna Kalinskaya comment, which is obviously a terrible thing to say and completely indefensible. Nothing Sinner did was a part of this, it was an unnecessary attack on her which was pretty misogynistic and deserves some form of punishment

It was about the Kalynskaia post. The man has an history of demeaning women. Do you remember the wavrinka incident? Also he pleaded guilty in his own trial for assaulting his gf and was cleared with a laughable verdict... And now he preaches about double standards for superstars 😂.
