Underrated??? The man is considered one of the all time GOATS of rock guitar. One of the elite shredders in history. Not underrated at all. He might be obscure to some people, but those who know of him know he's one of the greats.
Nitro didn't speak to ma as a kid, but I would kill for a week with Michael re: guitar lessons. He is actually more aggressive than Steve Vai. Less legato. His is picking every note. This is harder than Malmsteen's work.
I wish MAB would do more of this. It's great to hear these tunes with his spin on them. btw - I heard the bass drop out at the end for a second. Hey, it happens to the best of them. Equipment can fail.
IMHO, the singer uses cornbread on the high notes, but could use more on the lower notes. His mic could have been up a bit. MAB can certainly rip. I can't touch that; but seems to focus on the sweep picking bar after bar. These things are very fixable; and then this lineup will rip; and then we can see what the songwriting is about. Bigger drum sound wouldn't hurt; but then the venue is part of it. Bassist seemed to be nailing it.
