Me too. I've been going to Pointe Santo de Sanibel since I was in my twenties, I'm now in my sixties. That day killed my spirit. I was watching the Sanibel Cams and watched the water overtake Periwinkle Way. I was inconsolable. I'll always have my art though from Captiva of a little red headed girl bent over shelling. I didn't know I was pregnant at the time & my 26 year old daughter just recently thought that was a painting of her. I picked out the painting of a little girl who ended up looking just like my daughter. Just bizarre.

@@USMCSDI To this day, this very day it looks like a war zone. I wonder if this place will ever recover? Soul crushing. So much is gone forever. I was hysterical for a solid week. This place is part of my soul until I leave this earthly plane. Thanks for the tour, I see very little improvement maybe it's just my perspective.Ok, the pelicans are back on the causeway, there is hope. I loved to watch them fly along side of my car while going over the causeway. They always looked like they were flying in slow motion while looking at me, my favorite part of the island. The beautiful birds!

@@doloresm7396 As a window & door salesman I have sold hundreds of thousands of jobs on Sanibel Island. I am now in the process of preparing large scale bids to restore condos all over Sanibel Island. Will it recover? YES! Will it ever be the *SAME*? *NEVER*
