Mike, you really should get a pair of bluetooth communicators for working with Melissa. I bet if you contacted Sena.com, they would probably sponsor you with a pair. I adapted a set from my motorcycle helmet to sound proof head gear like you wear last spring when I was working a week with my grandson. He was on a tracked skid steer and I was running an excavator. We were doing drainage and road work at out hunting camp in central PA. We both had hearing protection all while being able to talk clearly with each other totally hands free. We could also pair our phones if we wanted and play music or take and receive phone calls. They even have a model with a camera and you can narrate your video direct from the headset. It is a lot better than trying to use hand signals or yelling over the sound of the machine. They have noise canceling so they reduce ambient noise so the microphone does not get drowned out by background noise (machine, band mill etc). I think you would find that they revolutionize your work and help in your video production. If I am not wrong, I think their headquarters are in Pittsburgh. Can't get much better than that.
Mike, Melissa, and the Morgan family, love how your place is coming along. Looking great! Thanks for carrying us along in your projects. Have a great day!
Good morning from NC again. It was cold over in SE PA loading the pickup yesterday morning! But we had a great weekend of house projects - the biggest one was installing shelves and spice racks in a pantry, but lots of littler ones - fixed the crawl space door, mounted the street address numbers on the front, installed a dimmer for living room lights, installed a washer and dryer, assembled a 2-drawer file cabinet for one of the offices, unpacked a full desk top and set aside for later assembly, consulted on patching/leveling yard and picked up topsoil and seed, acquired miscellaneous tools a new homeowner will need. And I’ve forgotten a lot I’m sure. Great fun hanging with my son all weekend. Your multipurpose building is coming along! Good to see it.
Nothings worse than a runaway log! Mike you do amazing work at the controls of your machines. Can’t wait for continuing video. Have A Day and enjoy the new camera.
Mike, you need a plate compactor as an early Father’s Day gift. This one project would easily justify the purchase. It might make a nice early Mother’s Day gift too......not trying to start trouble....much
Hey Mike, consider putting two layers of 1” foam (stagger the joints) over the conduit before you bury it so your waterline does not frost freeze from driving over the line in the winter!
Mike - Nice video. Sorry for the camera loss, but it goes with the territory. Melissa - Nice work on the hand signals as you guided Mike's work on the bucket. They may not have been the official signals (I have no idea what they are), but they were clear, and easy to understand what you wanted Mike to do. The project takes another step forward. Blessings to you both and to the family. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.
Long time watcher from Brookings, Oregon. Might want to run a line with a valve from the city water line to fill the cistern tank in case there is ever an issue with city water (i.e. contamination or planned outage). Always good to have a 3000 gallon emergency water supply available.
That hand tamper is no joke. That’s a workout in itself. Something you don’t see Mike doing much, hand work. Every good operator has to eventually pick up a shovel.
Alabama checking in, for us spring brings bad weather and the next few days could be rough. Prayers up for all my southerners...stay safe and weather aware.
Looks like we are going to have a good spring finally. Fishing, boating and firewood processing has been hindered due to bad weather/ late spring for most of the last few springs.
Good morning everyone. 43º in Kansas City now. Had our first tornado warnings yesterday afternoon and evening in the area, there were a few touchdowns south of me. Stay safe, be humble & kind and have a day.
Saw that on the news this morning. I was at KCAP (Ford Kansas City Assembly) one time and the warnings went off. Two hours in the below ground cafeteria after that!
Things are coming along nicely, Mike. Just finished up my last cup of coffee in my Morgan's mug watching the latest installment of the building.....build. Woke up to almost 1/2" of that goofy white stuff on the ground and it hasn't stopped yet. Wasn't in the forecast, but it is still March, sooooooo. It'll be gone by Friday. Hopefully March will go out like a lamb like it's supposed to, but I'm not holding my breath. Have a Day!
Looking good on the plumbing rough in Mike. Smart move to preplanned on the city water if and when ya'll get it! Be safe and a big hello to Melissa, Hunter and the girls. Give the dogs a good ear scratch for me and have a good one!!!
I'm always amazed by the different soil types around the globe. I have about 12 inches or less of beautiful black color top soil, then a white clay layer 12" give or take with big 12-24 inch boulders made of white/grey sand stone, after that a red color sub soil of dirt mixed with gravel to about 5-6 feet deep then grey color solid bedrock.
Put a cut off value at the tank and where city/county water will hook up outside put another cut off value and go ahead hook water line together so when city water comes you can cut tank off or vise versa. Great video hate your camrea got broke. Have a great day be safe.
It's usually a lot more to do than that. I think they call it cross tie with personal and city water. Might have to have physical separation. I'm sure it will be addressed.
Every job needs a foreman. And Mike, you have one of the best. I hated those manual chipping tools to dig a trench. You didn't have much to chip out. Good job with conduit under the driveway.
Hi, sorry about the camera... Can I suggest since you are very handy.... mount a hook on the center tube downward. and hang a weight to keep the tripod from moving in the wind . it will also keep the tripod more stiff or still - has helped me on many ocassions.
Mike, I'd say you ought to look into a better tripod while you're at it, and maybe a ballast sling for under it. I've been into photography for years and can tell you a good quality (heavy) tripod will do wonders. I tripod should never be able to blow over. Good luck! 👍
Glad you finally started I still have tons of snow and ice but it's melting, here in Fundy Bay. Just a suggestion a posthole attachment would be a great addition to that Kubota. I see a lot of people have those tractors here and are really happy with them. Enjoy the new build and the future pool.P.S. there are also stump breaking and grinding attachments
Interesting how shallow that water line is, I would think even in your area you would want it at least 4’. Here in Minnesota we bury water lines at least 6’ especially across a driveway or road. A few years ago I had to shut my water off and drain the lines to my shop because they were close to freezing (water was 36 degrees at the tap) there are two spots where it crosses under a driveway . Where the ground is not covered by snow for insulation. Looking great. Have a day!
@@augustreil you can but it freezes so hard it doesn’t help. A little town north of us that year most of the houses on the opposite side of the street as the water main all froze. Where the water go under the road to the houses.
Brian from England. Great project Mike. Your doing what most of us would like to do. Someone suggested an internal drain gulley for the machine storage area which appears to make sense. Trust the weather holds out for you. Good luck.
Just a thought a day late and a dollar short but I might have run another conduit along with the water pipe so that just in case you wanted something outdoors like electric line for something. Who know what the future holds. On the other hand it might just be a waste of time and money. Thank you for the video, hello Hunter, hope you are having an outstanding day.
