  • Hello guys welcome back to another video! Today I want to show you how you can edit animations inside of Unreal Engine, using Control Rig! You can follow this tutorial in Unreal Engine 4 or 5, as long as you enable the control rig plugin, or add the marketplace control rig character to your project! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments down below!

    Would you happen to know how to modify the root bone rotation and animation so it does the same thing but pointing to a different axis. I am trying to create some root motion 8-directions rolling out of one animation but it seems when activating root motion the root always points forward. If I use use first frame as pose it does this correctly in 4.26 but it seems it is broken in UE5. Any idea?

    Nice, this is a great tutorial. Would you happen to know how to fix a bone transform (head, neck_01) so that true fps setup would where the camera is attached to head would not have headbob that is affected by the animations during locomotion? Or should I just remove the transform of the head and neck_01 on the locomotion animations so that it will be sort of linear-stable at least that would make the bone stable and the attached camera not affected by movement of the character?

    this appears to be non-destructive to the skeleton, it doesnt change anything as far as other animations either, only the animation you wanted to edit. so the steps would be, Create the control rig, edit your animation, export animation, delete the control rig if you arent working on any more edits? just making sure because i am pretty far in with my project, i only need to make two custom animations. do i understand this correctly?

    • @kenalpha3
      @kenalpha3 Год назад +1

      Did you find a confirmation? And "Create the control rig, edit your animation" - Do we really need to make a Sequencer to edit the mesh? We cant use the Animation window?? (Ive not used Sequencer, so it's foreign to me; and I have your question too, of when it's safe to delete it, do we need to hide it so the player cant see in a normal level view?)

    • @MindOfBoomBoom
      @MindOfBoomBoom Год назад +1

      @@kenalpha3 you only use the Control Rig to make the animation, then use the Sequencer to record and save an animation script. after that script is created, you dont need the control rig again. does that help? its been a while since i did this.

    • @MindOfBoomBoom
      @MindOfBoomBoom Год назад

      @@kenalpha3 It looks like he is animating in a Sequence to make an animation script. some programs let you transfer animations from one Skeleton to another as long as they are based on similar skeletons. However, you can also do these things thru blueprints. its been a while since i've played with UE5, but i did use a plug in called mixamo animation retargeting to move scripts from one skeleton to another.

      Maybe - if the UE editor enforces strict axis that Z is always up, Y is always a certain way.
      Ive been using Blender for a year and the animation axis and keys are too confusing (Mixamo axis keep changing where Z is no longer up/down). I.e. in Blender, I have an anim that is 20 units from origin. So I wanted to move the root bone 20 units backwards on Y axis.
      So I go to Anim tab > select Root bone > hide every key channel except Y, and try to move the keys up/down in the graph, so the bone moves backwards.
      But in some animations the Y coordinate is determined by the X, Y, Z key coordinate???? (Meaning if I delete some Y keyframes, then the bone moves up/down on Z axis. So then I need to edit Z key frames too.) Wtf is that and why in Blender? It's these illogical things that make Blender annoying; then I dont even know what it is called, to search for answers.

      @@prodev4012 You need to disable the snap to grid for translation and rotation in the top right corner of the viewport or else you cannot get accurate placement.
