Troy Aikman is the best that football have. He speak facts at everytime. He knows football so much. In case, he says the whole truth about his former team because he loves them. He stay true at anytime for Dallas.
Jerry’s “all in” on them Cowboys. It’s not rocket science. As long as they have fans in the seats and merch is going out the door, nothing will change.
Jerry still thinks the attractiveness of the Cowboys is what it was 30 plus years a go. Who would want to coach there with how Jerry has treated players and coaches?
This has always been the way the Cowboys have operated. Tex Schram would lowball returning vets, more so than other teams, because they were so fortunate to play for Dallas. But at least Tex could build actual winners. Jerry cares about Jerry and making money.
Well, I think Tex and Tom worked together, kind of like Jerry and Jimmy did at first. Schramm and Landry were so good at getting players, that didn’t do that well on other teams, for cheap and turning them into great players as a team. Jerry has been trying to overshadow that and he has not been successful.
@ There’s an old NFL Films clip of Bob Lilly telling the story about talking with an opponent about how much the other guy had recently signed for and it was considerably more than what Lilly was making and you could tell it still bothered him. I don’t remember who the other guy was but it’s pretty safe to say he was no Bob Lilly. 😊
This is starting to remind me of the Al Davis situation when he got in his later years. Always late to respond and his choices were highly suspect. Both had their prime years where they brought their organizations the Lombardi Trophy, but they're well past that time.
It's hard enough to coach a team, but you add in Jerry and it becomes an impossible task, 31 other teams don't have this problem. In the 30 year since Dallas SB win, Pat's, KC have been the biggest winners and other team have won the SB without the drama that Jerry brings to Dallas. It's not a coaching issue, it is an owner issue.
Dylan Thomas would think Jerry fit his poem : "Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Dallas is only a coveted job if you win. And as long as Jerry is there, winning is all but impossible. He is the biggest impediment the head coach will have to overcome. Seriously, any coach with options would choose another one.
unless Cowboy fans hit Jerry where it hurts, in his Wallet, Things will not change. and when Jerry passes , you think things will be better under his son. The real reason the Cowboys won those Superbowls in the Nineties was because of Jimmy Johnson.
Jerry Jones is 82 years young. He is not going to be around forever. I wonder how long he will be running things and be such a force. Does he have a succession plan? I know he sounds and looks strong now, but things can decline super fast at his age. Just sayin... Great discussion as usual Mike and Chris.
Stephen is going to take over whenever Jerry rides off into the sunset and he’s worse than Jerry always saying how they don’t have money for free agents because of the salary cap.
McCarthy didn’t deserve another 5 years deal, he should’ve been fired after the Packers playoff no show. Dallas is still the only number two seed to lose to a seventh seed. McCarthy had them totally unprepared for that game.
Playoffs are lit without Dallas and all the media wants to talk about is Dallas. What a joke. God forbid we forget the precious star, but we need not forget that they fckin suck and will suck next year.
Thats the thing, all the talk is how trash they are. Good, let that be the message now. The team,, stadium, organization and family are trash. DFW resident here.
I feel bad for cowboy fans because they know the reality of there franchise. It’s not serious about winning, and all about the soap opera. Ignorance is bliss.
Cowboys fans treated like losers and suckers. Buy tickets, pay to tour and gawk at the facilities (Jerry’s World), buy merchandise, and wait for next year….sucker. He’s rich you’re not.
It's also worth pointing out Troy's reaction to Jimmy getting into the Hall of Fame vs Jerry getting in. It wasn't the same, Jimmy was ALWAYS Troy's guy, not Jerry
I'm your guy Jerry. I'll sign a 1 year contract for a couple million and if we don't make the playoffs, I'm gone. Deal? (I live on social security. I could use the income.)
Jerry is the problem. He’s the reason this team continually takes 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. He is why the HC job is not attractive , he is the reason the team is a failure on the field, he is the reason this team is a laughing stock.
I would rather be unemployed than work for Jerry Jones. I really mean that. Better to have no job at all than to work for someone who treats people badly and with disrespect.
NFL on NBC Sports good commentary good analysis. I agree with Mr. Florio, that job is not great. I don’t care if they are the Dallas Cowboys man. You will have somebody undermining you if you’re a head coach. The players can go to him over you, your authority is nothing. If you try to establish your culture, you can’t do it there. That was one coach that was successful and he had to leave there that was Jimmy Johnson. He won Super Bowl. He left that job and they won more championship with the team he built. That was Troy, Aikman, Emma, Smith, and the wide receiver who I cannot remember right now number 88. Jerry Jones wants all the credit is his team. But he doesn’t know how to function as a coach. No coach is gonna want that position cause he undermines them.He might give it to the guy who’s on the team now who controls the defense I can’t remember his name right now, but he’s not gonna be successful either.
Dallas is not the place that a hot shot coordinator or a college HC should start their NFL career. If Parcells couldn't make it work no NFL newbie is going to do anything but ruin their career. As for the retreads they're there for the money and continued relevance.
In one way, I understand it because they're the most expensive sports team on Earth, on the other hand I disrespect it because Jerry Jones needs to take a step back and stay out of football operations
It’s crazy how everyone’s forgotten about that article about McCarthy at the end with the packers, where he hadn’t changed his playbook in years, he would miss team meetings to get massages etc… how players on offense knew once they went up a score he would turtle up playcalling wise. How he only won one Super Bowl with prime Aaron Rodgers. He’s an average coach. If he didn’t have a 15 year old Super Bowl ring there would be NO TALK about him getting a third job. I disagree with 99 percent of Jerry’s jones decisions/antics but he was in a lose lose with McCarthy, if he fired him last year or this year people would have roasted him, just letting his contract run out people r roasting him
Been a Dallas Cowboy Fan my whole life, and during that time all these people has so much to say about Jerry but never go into details about what it is he actually does that make u not perform as a coach. It’s all 🧢. They just mad that Jerry team get talked about allt the time wether it’s good or bad and I love it bc I stay in NC and I get a chance to see my team on television more than the local panthers. Bottom line is if want this cowboy train to stop, get your fan base up and stop worrying about wat we got going on this side
As long as Jerry Jones is in charge? Nothing changes in Big D! You can have a list of 20 HCs...he'll always pick a coach that is a "Yes Sir-No Sir!" guy that will not challenge the team establishment. So here's to another (5) years of ineptness and no NFC Championships nor SBs.
McCarthy begged Jerry to draft him a good running back and Jerry gave him the middle finger to include passing on Derrick Henry and Barkley. Hope McCarthy gets a job with another team. Think he would do well with the Bears because he coached a long time and won in the Division before.
Dallas WILL find another HC, even if it means hiring Jason Witten or a college coach. There aren't that many HC jobs, so whether the Cowboys are a plum job or not, someone will take it. And, as I just wrote, McCarthy is average.
I’ve written it ad nauseum but I think Jerry Jones needs to give up his GM title. He should hire a GM then work with that GM to find a coach. After that they find their “forever” quarterback although that doesn’t really exist. To me Dak is in that list of QBs who just struggle to win in the playoffs, plus it’s becoming apparent that Dak very well might be injury prone. But until Jones commits to something like this recommended sequence, truly great coaching candidates will be hesitant to go to Dallas as they will realize it will be a constant ugly power dynamic.
watching news about Cowboys since the beginning is so funny 😂 This clown team with their clown 3 cap owner blowing up the all team and his credit. Every year it's gets worst and worst
It's amazing how the NFL media was saying how awful Mike was. Now he is the best thing. Stop it! In all reality, Mike should have been fired after that beat down to #7 GB. We are still the only #2 to have loss smh. Chris gets on his platform every week and says how boring our offense is. Which one is it, guys?! They just be talking.
Jerrah wants the talking heads like yourselves to continually talk about the 🤠 by slow playing all of the contract situations while all of them are on vacation during the playoffs 💯🤣
Why all of this focus and time on a team that can't win important games? America's team? Really? Whiners, losers, and poorly managed is not America's team. I'm not talking about the players, either. The buck stops at the owner and general manager. I love to hear Troy Aikman talk about culture and winning football. That era was so exciting. Same goes for the steelers. Listen to the old players talk and you understand why they were champions. Only a few teams have that today and Dallas is not one of them. Deion would be wasted in Dallas.
Geriatric old man who for some reason thinks only he can do the thing, well past his expiration, can’t let go of power or the past…what else is new? It’s the main theme of the last 2 decades.
The Cowboys are a clown show because of Jerry Jones, this comedy will not end until dirt covers the ringmaster. All of the commentators talk around how bad family owners are. Chicago, Cincinnati and Dallas etc…..🤮🤮🤮🤮
I have been a Cowboy fan since 1966 and was hurt when Jerry fired Landry. Of course I enjoyed the 90's and the return to a small dynasty of sorts, but I am wishing for Jerry to be gone... even Elon Musk who I mostly despise, might be a better owner. Just sad... but I will never stop being a Cowboys fan.
dump a experienced coach and bring in someone who only cares about himself, coach prime is not N F L coaching material, wait ill next year cowboy fans, free beer tomorrow also
I think he talked to Sanders because he knew everyone would talk about him talking to Sanders. With people talking about the Patriots making their choice, and the playoffs in full swing, no one was going to talk about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys unless he gave them something to talk about. He's a publicity hog.
It's fantasy football for Jerry. I wouldn't relinquish control of my fantasy team to some fantasy guru to increase my odds of winning. It's not about winning. It's about having fun, and it's more fun doing it yourself.
Coach the team Jerry, coach the team Steven. I'm ready for it, I'm here for it, why not? I love Jerry. I do. He's a true American Maverick. For real. It's incredible. If your a historical kind of nostalgic person like I am, it's awesome.
I’ll take the opposite position by writing that Jerry Jones has been BEYOND patient with McCarthy. What’s McCarthy’s Dallas playoff record? I don’t even know although I do know it’s poor because Dak’s playoff record is something like 2-4 maybe. I pulled that out of the memory banks. But it’s not just a poor playoff record. It’s also crazy stupid mistakes the Cowboys have made in the playoffs under McCarthy. There have been so many bad late-game decisions that have undermined the Cowboys in those playoff losses. But I think this is not necessarily an either-or Jones-McCarthy problem. Maybe both have made huge mistakes.
I always hated the Dallas Cowboys since the glorious days of the Steelers beating them in the 70s, but I have to tell you I really feel sorry for their fanbase and especially the players who are professionals that have to play for an extremely unprofessional owner.
No serious head coaching candidate wants anything to do with the Dallas Cowboys.
Aikman spoke for 99.9% of Cowboys fans. That was a mic drop Jerry should take to heart.
I couldn’t possibly agree more!
Spot on my man
They are basically the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NFL.
Aikman is spot on!! And he had the guts to say so.

Good point. Having said that, being a winner in Dallas definitely has its perks.
Every NFL owner is about making money
This is starting to remind me of the Al Davis situation when he got in his later years. Always late to respond and his choices were highly suspect. Both had their prime years where they brought their organizations the Lombardi Trophy, but they're well past that time.
And Jerry has said that his mentor in the NFL was Al Davis. No wonder he's acting just like him.
💯
In terms of NFL Football and Jones's arrogance.....relative to the last 30 years, I'd call it 'Arrogance Without Portfolio.'
Jerry has no self awareness that him acting as GM turns off tons of potential HCs.
Had Jerry Jones not had an ego, we would had Aikman, Irving, Smith and JJ having a run similar to what Brady and Bill had....
Panthers and Jets are joining the group of owners trying to be the focus and look where that has gotten them
It's not arrogance. It's old man yelling at clouds delusion.
Dylan Thomas would think Jerry fit his poem :
"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
Jerry is obsessed with validating himself as a football guru
Let's hope Jerry keeps it up so we don't have to listen to talk about America's team because they will stay a dumpster fire.
They’d probably talk about them more
Dallas is only a coveted job if you win.
If Jerrah runs into trouble finding a coach, McCarthy should tell the Cowboys to pound sand.
Yes absolutely, the atmosphere created is at best, rank
The cow pasture??... Lol
3-decades of futility! "IRREVELANT TEAM"
Florio was part of the mob yelling at Jerry to "pay the man". Now Dak is injury prone, cannot run, and is guaranteed over 200m.
😄 yep Dak 's contract broke our team. Thanks Florio
Jerry isn't a good GM and can't read a room
As a fan since 1970, my interest is waning. I'd have to think it's happening to hundreds of thousand of other fans too......
I was a fan since the 70s as well but i dropped them 20 years ago. I saw then what ppl are seeing now. The Jerry S-Show.
Jerry Jones has single handedly ruined the Dallas Cowboys at being a relevant team in the NFL, and unfortunately, I am a Cowboys fan. It is PATHETIC.
It's a business. As long as they're selling seats (and hype), that's all that matters...
They lead the NFL in paid attendance. True fact.
McCarthy didn’t deserve another 5 years deal, he should’ve been fired after the Packers playoff no show. Dallas is still the only number two seed to lose to a seventh seed. McCarthy had them totally unprepared for that game.

Jerry needs to find a great coach & give them the keys 🔑
It's not "As the Cowboys Turn" it's "Dallas"
It's also worth pointing out Troy's reaction to Jimmy getting into the Hall of Fame vs Jerry getting in. It wasn't the same, Jimmy was ALWAYS Troy's guy, not Jerry
What coach would thrive with no GM and narcissistic owner??
I'm your guy Jerry. I'll sign a 1 year contract for a couple million and if we don't make the playoffs, I'm gone. Deal? (I live on social security. I could use the income.)
Rex Ryan will be the next HC of the Cowboys.
Thats a Jerry move.
Jerry is the problem. He’s the reason this team continually takes 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. He is why the HC job is not attractive , he is the reason the team is a failure on the field, he is the reason this team is a laughing stock.

In my opinion. Mr. Jones is a billionaire but can't get his sunglasses to fit.
You spoke to it but think about this Jimmy Johnson wins 3 super bowls and gets fired, what does that message say to any potential head coach.
Jerry is going senile.
Dallas is not the place that a hot shot coordinator or a college HC should start their NFL career. If Parcells couldn't make it work no NFL newbie is going to do anything but ruin their career. As for the retreads they're there for the money and continued relevance.
Tell the editors to turn the master volume up some Have to put my tv at 75% just to hear you two

Go to Dallas to coach, get fired! Win a couple of super bowls get fired…… Dallas is a dead end job
Jerry Jones wants Jason Garrett again. 😁
Jerry 'we're all in' Jones - true indeed . It's what you're all in that matters. Hopefully we can get to the championship game by 2072. Fire the GM 😅
They're probably going to have to settle for Mike Zimmer. Robert Saleh/Doug Pederson would be a best case scenario.

dufus
Prime baby! Bring in Deion, trade Dak to Cleveland for the #2 pick, take Shedeur in the draft! Make it happen Jerry!

He brought back Zeke 🤷♂️
Jerry Screws the Fans always.
Dallas signed Dak long-term. They are on the path to irrelevancy.
Jerry has no idea what he's doing and making it up as he goes along.
Dallas WILL find another HC, even if it means hiring Jason Witten or a college coach. There aren't that many HC jobs, so whether the Cowboys are a plum job or not, someone will take it. And, as I just wrote, McCarthy is average.
The cowboys organization is a dumpster fire and it's delightful 😂
welcome back kellen moore
Naw that’s a prime job buddy lol
The Cowboys are America's meme
PLEASE for the love of all that's holy, do something about your sound levels!!! JFC! I can hardly hear anything!

Still he owns the highest valued team.
That was a good one. Its the southern drawl and the billionaire tycon sawg ur missing.
The Cowboys will never win the Superbowl with Jerry Jones at Quarterback.
How bout em?
Jerrah wants the talking heads like yourselves to continually talk about the 🤠 by slow playing all of the contract situations while all of them are on vacation during the playoffs 💯🤣

totally brilliant imitation of Jerry Jones BS:)
Oh Florio to the rescue for the millionaire coaches and players, defender of the poor I tell you 🤡
Nothing says arrogance like a documented liar and a washed up, nothing former QB.
Hire kellen moore!!
Hey mike great Vikings playoff run. 😂
😂

Packers fan here, i agree. Dudes average at best
Then why deny McCarthy the interview with the Bears? The truth is Jerry wanted to low-ball McCarthy and McCarthy wanted out. Jerry needs to go.
And he literally still wanted him around lol.
Dak Prescott is the problem. Every time he gets a new contract he gets hurt.
If he wanted McCarthy out thats fine and I agree issue is by waiting he missed the opportunity to interview multiple prime candidates.
I wonder if there’s an allure to working for Jones seeing as he is the richest owner in the NFL 🧐 💰
I always hated the Dallas Cowboys since the glorious days of the Steelers beating them in the 70s, but I have to tell you I really feel sorry for their fanbase and especially the players who are professionals that have to play for an extremely unprofessional owner.
