- [[Vincent Crane]] - keyboards/producer, [[Ric Parnell]] - drums, [[Chris Farlowe]] - vocals, John Goodsall - guitar (aka 'Mandala')
Song written by Jackie Avery from the Sept. 1973 album Atomic Rooster - Nice 'n' Greasy. Atomic Rooster used stage names to avert charges from destroyed stages, equipment, hotel rooms etc. Parnell was Ricky Ravish, Crane's last name was Cheeseman, Farlowe given name was John Henry Deighton and Mandala was John Goodsall.
RIP John Goodsall and Ric Parnell. They had known each other since 10 years old. John died 11/11/21. Ric died 1/5/22. I knew them both back in early 70's in South West London . Many good parties enjoyed. Condolences to both families.
RIP Ric. Ric played drums with us in the studio in 2012 and the energy he brought, wow!
I would blast this one in Mississippi on my way south to LA. I must have 2000 albums on vinyl. This is a special song,by a very special band. I know it put the Voodoo in me. Thanks!
Groovy tune man ✌️been listening to this for few years, all rooster gives me a booster 😇
John Goodsall ,one of the few times I use the most overrated word " underrated" and mean it! BRAND X guitarist always excellent.
Knew him when he came to my Secondary school when he lived in the U.K.
RIP John x
Love Atomic Rooster and Chris's voice.
Hard to believe that this lineup lasted for a live album & a studio album
They made a Big impact.👍
GooD FinD !! GooD DaY TodaY !! TomorroW ComeS TodaY !! ...
Fab
John goodsall = very fab player
Sounds great!
Love this album!
Will look that up. Chris definitely sounds more bluesy on this one. Jackie Avery probably wrote the vocal melody
The track is taken from a Johnny Jenkins album, Ton Ton Macoute.
Yes, the song first appeared on Johnny Jenkins' lp but was credited to Jackie Avery ( and the same goes with the Atomic Rooster version).
strange that it's 2021 and I can barely find any information at all when it comes to the songwriter, Jackie Avery...
This is my favourite tune from this album. I'm a huge Farlowe fan, and it really doesn't sound like him on this one. Same voice on 'Take One Toke' too, don't think it's Chris.
Are you the real John Goodsall by the way?
Slower than Johnny Jenkins' number, but more tense and menacing thanks to the incomparable voice of Chris Farlowe.
You stole the words out from my mouth, mate👍
@@templetonparceley8645 I believe it's Goodsall singing, not Farlowe.
Best Atomic rooster song voodoo.
Vocals sound like Phil Keaggy/Glass Harp.
Thanks, you've done a great gift
ciao Angelo
soul singer johnny jenkins did this song on his debut album...check it out!
@JustAintThatWay Hi, are you sure ! I don't find it on both Duane Allman's Anthologies vol.1 & vol.2
You meant "swamp singer", didnt'you mate? 😉 Ton-Ton Macoute
