honestly i think it was really shitty how they all reacted to the first dress. it was clear she loved it a lot. sure, it's nice to try multiple dresses. but you could see how disappointed she looked and her smile slowly fell from all the negative comments from some of the dearest people in her life. i'm glad she found a dress that could satisfy everyone though.

As someone who works at a bridal salon, the things that the entourage was asking for (more detail, more drama, etc) are going to inherently drive up the price of a dress. If you want something more plain, it will usually be quite cheaper. But for the things they were asking, you get what you pay for.

I feel like people should say their budget is like £2000 but really it is £2500 because the shop will make sure to find dresses that are way over your budget. Because they want you to say yes to a dress that you really like but is over the price point so that they can get more money from you

I think that depends on who you take. Some are jealous but some genuinely want their friend to look and feel the best. It worked out for this girl because she actually had a reaction to the dress she picked. Looking pretty and feeling like a million bucks is a huge difference. When it comes down to how much these people pay for these dresses you better cry because you feel amazing, not because you picked a dress you feel meh about 1 week before your wedding.

(*LONG RESPONSE*) I've had it happen multiple times during prom time. It's not a wedding dress but it was a super huge deal for me. I spent hours in stores looking. I went with my mom and my sisters all of whom are my best friends. I'm a short and curvy African American girl who had and has an afro (i'm in my 20's now). I'd spent months on pinterest before this trying to find a dress that I would love. My mom was super blunt she didn't only say the dresses that I wanted were boring she also said that they didn't suit me and they swallowed me. At first I was disappointed and hurt but I tried to see if from their point of view. These females love me. They would not intentionally hurt me. They were gaining nothing from being in this dress store besides that fact that they want me to find a dress that I will love. My sisters were skipping hanging out with their friends and after school programs to come with me. So I stepped back and looked at myself. I was about to cry when I actually looked at the dresses I was trying. I was trying to replicate these beautiful, tall, slender, white models. I wasn't these models. I was me and I had to dress with these models as inspiration and not the foundation of what I wanted. I stopped looking at the peachy oranges and greenish teals that looked good on their beautiful peach and cream skin and looked at the rose and gold ones that made my skin pop and shimmer. I stopped with the poofy ball gowns that made them look like princesses and picked a dress that fit my curves and didn't make me look dull and swallowed in my dress (At 5'1 a poofy dress can make you look like a circle and make you look shorter) The dresses I was picking were around 500 but when I actually looked with me in mind and not them the one I found was about a hundred and at prom I had multiple Black girls in their puffy orange and green and yellow dresses look at me in envy and ask where I'd gotten my dress from since it looked expensive and chic. So again I'll say I'd rather have people who love me and are blunt instead of people who lie not to disappoint me. I'm a big girl. I'll get over it

As someone who works at a bridal salon, the things that the entourage was asking for (more detail, more drama, etc) are going to inherently drive up the price of a dress. If you want something more plain, it will usually be quite cheaper. But for the things they were asking, you get what you pay for.

I think that depends on who you take. Some are jealous but some genuinely want their friend to look and feel the best. It worked out for this girl because she actually had a reaction to the dress she picked. Looking pretty and feeling like a million bucks is a huge difference. When it comes down to how much these people pay for these dresses you better cry because you feel amazing, not because you picked a dress you feel meh about 1 week before your wedding.

I ended up going with two friends who weren't in my wedding because we dropped in a shop since they were having a rack sale. I'm glad I found my dress but it would've been nice to have had my mom there. She was paying for my dress so I ended up having to phone her and send pics. I think the biggest problem is that the bride was so happy with the first dress, and the friend was unnecessarily mean about it. I've had it happen multiple times during prom time. It's not a wedding dress but it was a super huge deal for me. I spent hours in stores looking. I went with my mom and my sisters all of whom are my best friends. I'm a short and curvy African American girl who had and has an afro (i'm in my 20's now). I'd spent months on pinterest before this trying to find a dress that I would love. My mom was super blunt she didn't only say the dresses that I wanted were boring she also said that they didn't suit me and they swallowed me. At first I was disappointed and hurt but I tried to see if from their point of view. These females love me. They would not intentionally hurt me. They were gaining nothing from being in this dress store besides that fact that they want me to find a dress that I will love. My sisters were skipping hanging out with their friends and after school programs to come with me. So I stepped back and looked at myself. I was about to cry when I actually looked at the dresses I was trying. I was trying to replicate these beautiful, tall, slender, white models. I wasn't these models. I was me and I had to dress with these models as inspiration and not the foundation of what I wanted. I stopped looking at the peachy oranges and greenish teals that looked good on their beautiful peach and cream skin and looked at the rose and gold ones that made my skin pop and shimmer. I stopped with the poofy ball gowns that made them look like princesses and picked a dress that fit my curves and didn't make me look dull and swallowed in my dress (At 5'1 a poofy dress can make you look like a circle and make you look shorter)
The dresses I was picking were around 500 but when I actually looked with me in mind and not them the one I found was about a hundred and at prom I had multiple Black girls in their puffy orange and green and yellow dresses look at me in envy and ask where I'd gotten my dress from since it looked expensive and chic. So again I'll say I'd rather have people who love me and are blunt instead of people who lie not to disappoint me. I'm a big girl. I'll get over it
