What do you think of Pimax 8KX? Are you motivated to dive into the settings and make your VR games shine 🤩? Or does it look too complicated? 🙄

I've had my 8KX a month and thanks to your video I've realised the head strap can be adjusted further down the back of my head. It's made a massive change in the comfort but literally felt like the hinges were going to snap!
I never would of dared trying this if it wasn't for your video and Pimax give next to no writen documentation in the box (a single credit card sized drawing only) which is crazy for such important aspect of a VR headset.
As for calibrating the colours the recommended settings posted on the Pimax forum make a huge difference to such an extent that it makes you wonder why Pimax didn't apply these in the factory. They are such a strange company and have a kit car attitude of you bought it, you fix it yourself.

I picked this headset up last week and let me tell you being a VR enthusiast starting with the DK2 back in 2014/1015 and owning 15 VR headsets and although there are so many settings to play around with on the 8K X this is the best headset I have ever owned.

That's great to know! I'm still messing with the settings, I found that Oculus games are harder to set up than Steam VR games. Do you set specific profiles for each game or do you game a more or less genetic preset that works with most games?

@@DiscoVRTetiana I Want the highest resolution and best colours possible for every game I play. So Yes I tinker with the Pitool settings as well as in game settings. The one setting I do leave alone is the FOV. I find Normal FOV Is so close to the Large FOV that it's not really worth it to be on Large FOV. Once you get about 2 to 4 hours in testing multiple games the Tinkering becomes very easy and it takes less then 5 minutes to get it all set up. Even with the normal FOV and Highest settings possible I hear my 3080TI screaming It is a beast of a headset but totally worth the effort in learning it. I hope I help.

I just got this one from an outlet sale on Newegg because of your review. Although the setup gave me a migraine, the clarity and unique settings has me glad I upgraded from the Oculus Rift CV1 to the Pimax 8KX. I am proud to say I am no longer vomiting.

Hi Disco. I had oculus rift S, pimax 5k+, hp reverb g2 and Pimax 5k super. I stay on the last one (5Ksuper), the fov is a deal changer for me especially for racing games. About streaming on pimax it's possible, just need to crop a bit in the image because the lenses deformations on screen looks worse than what it is when you wearing the headset irl. I also use transformation 3D on OBS, by tilting a bit the image on the Y axe and some other little adjustments.
The VR mirror view on steam vr have a "two eyes" rendring with one dominant eye. But i found the quality better on "open vr" in obs, and having the mirror on steam vr is one more window to deal with so... :)
    Peace !

love my 8kx, but i am a VR-enthusiast so all the settings and stuff are a plus for me, not something that scares me. and yes, i did start saving up for the 12k before it was even announced.

OMG😱 did you brake the hinge?? I did not dare to push the strap so far back, but now i have to try😃 Pimax should make a more narrow facegasket and come with pu leather cushion instead of foam. That will make a big difference in comfort.

How come you didn't review the newer dmas version instead of the older kdmas version? the dmas version supposedly has better improved panels, the cups on the earphones is the kdmas version of the 8kx

The problem is not fov itself but resolution what you got and game engine doesn't support. Especially if you try large for WITH Parallel Projections (never do this) or increased super sampling. Also for most damanding games you need at least 10Gb VRAM so 3070 is too weak. Of course you can play on small fov but why you will buy 8KX then?

The most advanced, and yet, still unfinished, HMD available.
Have had my new PiMax 8KX for about a month now and during that time it has worked for about a week.
The list of problems just gets longer and longer.
Can not work with steam - Steam just crashes as soon as it sees the Pimax. Tech support says reload steam, reload Pitool, Reload SteamVR. Try this setting and try that setting. But it still does not work.
It is even difficult to turn on! Sometime it conects straight away and other times not at all. Sometimes you get a green light (all good), sometime a purple light (reprojection is on) and sometime an orange light (no idea). There is no way to control this behaviour.
The Pimax was not designed to be used with steam. In fact I would say that the product is not complete and still being tested. And you can be a beta tester for only $2000.
A serious waste of time and money and I would be happy to get rid of mine for 75% of what it cost me.
Sad to say that it is just not ready for the average VR ready computer competent consumer.

this headset is the biggest piece of junk that I have ever used, unstable and unreliable to say the least, nothing works, the tracking with the basestations glitch out, the display on the panels of the headset went out after a couple of days of just getting the damn thing, nothing could fix that, the audio on the dmas speakers don't work most of the time, most of the steam vr games will fail and crash, the Pitool software is useless and unstable and will freeze your computer at times, screw this, after a week and a half of the aggravation, I put it back in the box and returned it back to Amazon, no way I am keeping this overpriced garbage, Pimax sucks, I'll never buy anything made by them again, the company must be ran by a bunch of retards

Have 8KX since Dec 2020, only had a problem once with bad firmware and the optic cable after 1,5 years is dead. Otherwise works perfectly fine. But you need some tech skills and understanding of the Pitool and how PC works. Then you can fix all "problems"(like in the video) in seconds.
Maybe with new versions there is some problems with steam but my 8KX works flawlessly with it. On 1080Ti, 3090 and 4090. And 2 different CPU and motherboards(I did some upgrades since I bought it). Also on other PC of my friend.

Kinda sounds like a couch potato VR. Even mini-golf and bowling could be problematic with the down and up head movement with such a big headset. Also, think they should take a cue from the Quest 2 community and make it compatible with the quest 2 head-straps. I get the feeling they went big in the basic tech and then had to cut efforts on downsizing and firmware for compatibility - which is a lot tougher than many may think. There is a butterfly effect to firmware upgrades.

this headset is a malfuctioning piece of junk, that doesn't work most of the time, it feels like the most unfinished cheap demo vr headset released as a product to the public, it doesn't work with anything no matter what you do, the panels on the 8kx will fail after a couple of days of using the thing, the tracking almost never works right with the 2.0 Valve Basestations, there is no way to fix anything on this headset because the software is so bad and unstable, this headset is so bad, the audio doesn't work on the dmas because it was poorly designed by the developers, returned this piece of junk back to Amazon, after no luck of fixing anything on it, I'll never look at another product from Pimax ever again, high priced unstable garbage, the 8kx and the G2 have to be the worst vr headsets that I have ever used, I'll only trust Meta or Oculus products from now on, their stuff works
