Octodad: Dadliest Catch is the sequel to the splash hit, Octodad! This time, our cephaloprotagonist has gotten himself in a bind between his wife's mounting mistrust, and a disastrous trip to the local aquarium! Are you dad enough to control the titular octopus father as he strives to hide his nautical nature from his family while keeping his tangled tentacles intact?

There's a couple spots in this trailer, which seem to show levels that are quite different from the now released game. Of course that's because this trailer came out almost a year before release.. but it still makes me want more Octodad levels!
I hope they do a few DLC side stories/missions, or another sequel or something, eventually. :D

Danny Tran Actually it's not a prequel, some people have mistaken that because of the wedding at the start. But the wedding is just a flashback.
In the original game, you're already married, and have kids. The new game starts off with a flashback of the wedding, and then picks up in the house AFTER the events in the first game. The characters make mention of several events from the first game, like the basement flooding. So the first game took place between the wedding, and the events in the level "Home Sweet Home".

Octodads new design is freaking adorable! The first game was incredibly creative and alot of fun, and this looks like its going to be even better! :D
There's a good chance that there will be a Russian translation since we have a close friend who is bilingual, but we don't want to over-promise on languages. We are aiming on making it so that the mod community will be able to easily add additional languages that we are unable to support properly, though.

Thanks! It's a bit hard, but people got so good at the first game that we felt like we needed to build up the difficulty in some ways.
So you just play as a dad? I mean, I love my father, but I have no desire to play Dad Simulator 2014. Too many bad jokes.
CapacitatedFlux you dont play as a dad, you play as an octopus that hides amongst humans and lives the life in a human family, he married a woman named scarlet, got 2 kids named tommy and stacy (idk how he got kids) and theres this chef that keeps on chasing him through his journey

The joke is that no one is supposed to KNOW that Octodad is an octopus, so they look at the game and think it's just a game about a dad.

The story is standalone from the first game, so it's mostly within the same timeframe (with some revealing parts about his past...)
The Chef is the antagonist for our story. He wants to out Octodad's secret!

I remember seeing this trailer on Steam Greenlight. This was my introduction to the wonderfully weird premise of Octodad. Who would've thought that this game would go on to become an Indie classic? Yes, the controls are intentionally frustrating, but the story and humour made the experience memorable and worth the price of admission. And having such a catchy theme song certainly helped.
You should pat yourself on the back, Young Horses. It's been almost 10 years, and you've created a game that will be fondly looked back upon for much, much longer.

@HiroSuri We're hoping to have it on Steam for PC/Mac once it's done and we're also going to be trying to sell it through our own site as well for anyone who doesn't like platforms.
The visuals are very impressive. I played the first game way back when it was first released so it's really obvious how much more polish this game has received. I have to ask did you hire an art director?

So awesome, love this soundtrack also! I just hope the controls have been improved. Not so it's easier to control him necessarily but a better reflection of your expected move when you control him.

Gonna be honest, I never expected this game to get a sequel. But I thoroughly enjoyed the first game and look forward to the release of Dadliest Catch! I'll also be purchasing that song! Very catchy. :)

Imo this was one of the most revolutionary games ever....the controls were unwieldy, the storyline made no damn sense but it was challenging,enjoyable and...fucks sake, OCTODAD! The result of talented game producers dropping acid on the job

Well maybe it will be on sale some time, but we've been working on this for about 1.5 years now and we've still got close to another year to go. We hope $10 for about 4-5 hours of content isn't too much to ask. That's less than going to see a shorter film that isn't interactive. :P
There are games with the highest difficulty level, like the Souls Series... Then there's Octodad.

Hmm...... Game seems like it could be ported to a console, after all, you can use the right stick for moving the camera, left is to move the "feet" and/or "arms" The left trigger can be the left feet, the right trigger can be the right feet, and the circle button.... Oh damn there's allot of functions.
I'm looking forward to this game though, you guys must've gone through allot of trouble to get the physics working properly, good job you guys.

I went to look for Octodad and got to what appears to be the official website, just wondering: IS THIS GAME SUPPOSED TO BE FREE!? WTF! I guess I'm a grown up now because everytime something appears to be free I get suspicious.
