Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 returns to Home Plate 8/2/19

Today, August 2nd 4014 returned to Omaha for display. I went out in the evening to capture it on the move. Enjoy the footage of 4014 in the Omaha area.

God that thing sounds like a beast! It sounds impressive just hearing it on my phone. I cant imagine whatbitnsounds like in person. I found out that it went through my town of Milwaukee after the fact. Would have loved to see it in person.

Would it be great if 3985 and 4014 team up to doubleheader the train?

The 3985 is in unrepairable condition, even if the railroad try to restore it, it would cost more than it did for the big boy. Ed Dickens (the main engineer) stated that UP does not have any plans to restore 3985.

Great footage! Love seeing the Big Boy back on the tracks.
I had the pleasure to see both the 4014 and the 3985 on display at Ogden Station back in May 11th. The look, the smell, and the feel of those trains was an experience that I'll never forget.

The U.P has tracks through Phoenix that pass very close to my house. Will the U.P ever run 4014 through Phoenix? If they do , don't go through the desert in the summer when its 115 in the shade the crew may melt sitting next to the world's largest tea kettle.

3985 is about 122 ft. 4014 is 132 ft. So about a 10 foot difference
