- BEST ON RUclips 4000 Ratings would make me very happy :D!!!! this is my second homemade reddot sight / reflex sight that i made that is probably the best on RUclips :P This video has a much more detailed
explanation of how it works. please rate and comment.
Red Dot vs Holographic vs Iron Sights - MW2
holy crap that is the nicest home made any thing ive ever seen
I always wondered how a real red dot worked. This is a great build.
EOTECH AND AIMPOINT ARE ABOUT TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS
ON GOD 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (I’m seven years late)
tip : heat the plexiglass and stamp it with a round object like a pingpong ball--- attach the LED on a square peace of wood or plastic and pass a screw thru it ,so when you turn the screw from the outside the led will be moving horizontally ,and get creative and figure out a way to make a vertical one two ---also most important get artistic ,make it look like something you bought
yeah thats what i did in my production model prototype video
i haven't watched your other video yet ! going to watch it now
I dont know how anyone could dislike this video. Dude that is so cool I can't believe you made your own. I just bought one on Amazon for 23 dollars and it works way better than I thought it would but there it's nothing cooler than making your own even if it just sits on your dresser. And the iPod package thing pretty resourceful same with the cheese container. You shouldn't ever stop doing things like that. I'll like your vid and subscribe you
are awesome man!!!!
I wouldn't want to have to rely on it in combat, but this is a pretty sweet project nonetheless.
This is one of the better demo's I've seen out there on youtube. So many people have got the red dot to reflect, but failed to make the illusion of projecting the dot in space. I'm working on a similar project. To make the red dot perfectly project out in space, you'll need to make the reflector a closely resemble a paraboloid.
Despite the way you speak being slightly annoying, i must applaud you for developing and building your own homemade red dot sight.
I actually feel that I understand more about the structure of red dot sight through this 3:10 minute video than reading all those articles including wikipedia
Homemade paralax-FREE reflex site? DUDE!!! You're a genius. LIKED!!
you have an excellent observation actually. my new one that i was going to sell (ran out of time to pursue that) I actually had to scratch one side of the lens so it wouldnt reflect twice. If i had a material to coat the lense that would have worked too but i didnt
some people might want to talk shit but I think it's pretty cool and probably a good educational tool to teach people how the thing they might own works.
OK, I admit that I wouldn't put it on anything except maybe some similar DIY gun but to be able to replicate the real thing and make it work is quite an achievement. Good job.
The best homemade red dot sight that i've seen before
GREAT JOB!!! Use boiling water so it don’t scorch plastic.
LOL EPIC. A ghetto red dot that's more parallax free than sight marks sights. Good stuff yo!
the reason the real one is oval shaped differently going up is because it can do what yours can do stay on the target going down and up yours just needs lenses melted to a up and down position you get me that kinda makes sense too
nice vid too very accurate
very nice:)
i made one of those except it is in that old style, clear square peice of glass, with a sharp display reflecting from the bottom. all i did was just angle the glass at a 45' angle and yeah. these things really aren't complicated.
it parallex free like a holosight that good stuff!
ill say it again little man.... good work! Id be proud of you as my son
Dude, that is the best look and best preformence from a homemade red dot i have ever seen. TUTORIAL PLEASE
the first respectable homemade sight I have seen. Seems to work and the design is good, keep going dude just a notch more finishing and it will look like a commercal one.
how did you measure the beam of light? trying to make one myself, getting a hard time with the dot following the target.
wow! I wish i could make that. I didnt really know how to make the light part, but urs is pretty cool
Back in my bf n CoD days I thought red dots were magical hi tech computerized digital holographs, now I understand how simple the mechanism really is. Starting to regret having spent $50 on that reflex sight for my airsoft gun..
really nice , i have a approve it in my vid . i didnt go with the bend because i didnt liked the oval shape as you said . thanks for sharing it !
That red dot sight is awesome.
If you want to make a "proper" lens and not just a vertical warp: Find a solid ball (i used a metal hand training ball, you can also use a dumbbell or a bowling ball) put in on a grill, place your plastic on top with moderate pressure (use wire to fix it in place) then light the grill. As the ball gets hotter the plastic will warp and concave correctly. Make sure it does not catch on fire or melts. As always - be VERY careful when working with fire, and do not touch the ball until it cools down.
Thx dude this is a great example for science wich is light
This is just the mw2 sight and that is awesome
I hear the top-dome of a lightbulb makes a good lens as it's concave so can handle vertical displacement.
thats sick bra keep the good work up, tip though: use glass it works a lot better
Wow you are crafty as hell!!
Nice sight.
omg dude. you HAVE to make an instructible. this is awesome
I tried building it with plastic from a water bottle curved in both vertically and horizontally, but I found the reticle moving with my eye and away from target.
What did I do wrong?
minaedwar I also used lenses from sunglasses and it failed.
Same thing happened to me man
Good fabrication job! I still think I'd buy one over making one but I'm very impressed. You get an A+
Pretty cool job. Craftmanship is a little rough but its awesome you were even able to make it work. Good job.
I think you did an awesome job on this! Don't let these jerkoffs discourage you!
you need to hook up with Royal Nonesuch
0:23 with transcribed captions says peace about popcorn or something like that. LOL
I really didn't think you could make a homemade red dot sight. This is awesome.
Wow, this was the first time I've seen one in action. That's amazing.
@EKAMITHS1 no the mirror is 90 degrees flat on the back and the mirror is like 70 degrees pointed down toward it
Could You please make a tutorial on how to make this. I really want to try this, but 1) I don't know where to get the material 2) I don't know how to put it together. Please make a tutorial! This is absolutely incredible
@MrSveinert you can get them from old electronics or at radio shack or online.... they are very common.
That's an smart idea, sir. I'll make one for my Thompson if I have time.
DAMN U MUST HAVE LEARNED ALOT FROM DA 1980'S CAUSE KIDS BACK DEN WERE SO CREATIVE DEY BUILD EVERYTHING OUT OF ANYTHING.
haha very cool you have a bright future in optics!
you're wrong this is not a red dot , it's a holographic sight , which makes the fact that you built even more impressing . Their difference is that the holographic sight seems to project the red dot on the target regardless of the angle from where you're looking.
crude but you are on to something.
When you going into business?
Great video.
I had to thumbs up this video,Id be lying if I did not.
@dreammaker182 thanks for the compliment :) the problem with that is, i still think people would dish out 75$+ for a namebrand sight rather than like $25 for a homemade one you know
Rilly impresive! but i have an idea, what if u take 2 metal spoons an squeese the hot plastic beetwen them so its owal
GOOD JOB... Probably would fall apart after a good paintball hit... but I like...
Im looking for the similar sight, It has lenses that are colored red and blue and you can change the look of it a little by twisting a knob.
best on RUclips!? NO, but very well made
Thats cool pall ;)
I make stuff like this to but I haven't got this thing :D Cane you make a video that you mount it on a gun or something like that?
And I want to make sniper scope but I can't make it zoom in :( can someone help me or show me a video.
Keep it on dude
You are gonna go places in life. You are awesome dude. Great video!
@thinnishjonny24 it only works one way, make sure your battery is between 1-3 volts and check to make sure you havent blown it
Nicely done!
this is pretty impressive
Epoxy sticks well to metal... I use it for pneumatic rifles and stuff...
This is very impressive! I am trying to see how I can make the same curve as you did but i cant get the hang of it. Is the lens simply curved or is it bulged outwards (convex)? Does the mirror do anything other than add distance?
yeah the lens is just curved thus it has no vertical accuracy. In my production model prototype video the lens is convex in both directions. The mirror only adds distance, although without the mirror you need a greater warp. It seems to be the greater the warp is, the less accuracy it has.
guitarerik93 thanks
ReagansPolicy how did you bend the plexiglass...I built mine but i am having troubles bending it the right curve...please help!!!
there was no how to but it gave me a good enough idea of how to make one great video though
@amazoneon thanks glad you liked it!
Michel Linschoten- Holographic sights usually cost over $300, but basic reflex sights that work like this one cost much less.
Those are the over priced ones, my dad got his for his AK-47 for $30 and it has had absolutely no problems over the past 3 years
general juggler Those are holographic sights, that work in a completely different way, let more light through, are more accurate, and don't show any light from the front. That difference is worth the extra money to a lot of people. It's not worth it to me, for any gun I have or plan to have in the next few years, but there are good reasons for some people.
I have a cheap ratchet set in my trunk, but when I was a professional mechanic I had Snap-on tools. One Snap-on socket cost as much my whole set, but it was worth it then, not now.
Can you replace the LED with a laser pointer ??
i had an idea, however it would be a bit expensive if you did not already have an old one like i do. A camera lens. It is perfectly round and concave. and clear. I tried to to one apart to get the lens, but failed.
Good idea only bad thing is I can't find the circuit board that small or the battery
jeez extremely clever and thoughtful :D
looks awsome, good job
realy nice made! one thing is bothering me.. can you focus both on target and the dot in the same time (cause i know that iron sight cant) and is it acurate for any distance?
i like how most reflex sights you can buy have paralex but one you made doesnt have it
@locomurder i think your thinking the led would be mounted where your looking right? well no the light is in the body of the sight and you need it to see it. its ordanary red led you cant see infrared with your naked eye.
Thanks for your sharing.
Would you please tell me what's the lens should be.
The best one ive seen
Pretty cool man, good job
Great job! Impressive!
Hey man nice video! Very creative
very nice job making it clever but if you wanted to adjust it how would you do that?
Cool as sight. well made ! :)
I should make this for my nerf guns! Everybody would be jelly
general juggler that’s exactly why I watched this video although they do make nerf red dot sights but this would be better
or you should go quit playing mincraft and get friends.
PureBiking my nigga what the fuck did he do to you
PureBiking *Triggered dumb ass alert*
use JB weld it sticks good to metal and is just about as strong when it dries
Dude thats sick!
@guitarerik93 You don't have to use windows movie maker. Just get Sony vegas. (I use After Effects and iMovie.)
please give this man a cookie
He could put a set of square holes and use metal zip ties, i mean this is great for places that are currently on a civil war, i would love to have this red dot if i was in Syria.
Thanks for uploading this video....
Impressive work
Nice work dude
that is very intuitive!
@guitarerik93 well that is the tricky part I guess break a bunch of old bulbs till one breaks the right way. Wear safety gloves!
You're a GENIUS
nice job making this
Wow, nice job.
where did you get the led and battery? Maybe explain how the electric stuff works in there for me?
thats pretty much it i just cant figure out how to make it reflect off the mirror right and wat kind of light to use kuz my lights not bright enough can u make a tutoriol on how to make it plzzzz
good job man, but u ddnt tell us the idea behind keeping a distance between the lense and the light sourse
well, the thing is tht u need 2 put the light source exactly at the point of focus of the lense
thts y u c the dot on target from any point of view, and u also c this dot at "theoritically" infinity distance
but thx a lot
@ezbiskit thank you :) ive actually looked into vacuum molding and it seems simple and i can produce them exactly the same as the one before, ive also figured out how to make much better lenses which have a vertical warp, hopfully i will have a bunch of them on ebay within the month
