    tip : heat the plexiglass and stamp it with a round object like a pingpong ball--- attach the LED on a square peace of wood or plastic and pass a screw thru it ,so when you turn the screw from the outside the led will be moving horizontally ,and get creative and figure out a way to make a vertical one two ---also most important get artistic ,make it look like something you bought

    I dont know how anyone could dislike this video. Dude that is so cool I can't believe you made your own. I just bought one on Amazon for 23 dollars and it works way better than I thought it would but there it's nothing cooler than making your own even if it just sits on your dresser. And the iPod package thing pretty resourceful same with the cheese container. You shouldn't ever stop doing things like that. I'll like your vid and subscribe you
    are awesome man!!!!

    This is one of the better demo's I've seen out there on youtube. So many people have got the red dot to reflect, but failed to make the illusion of projecting the dot in space. I'm working on a similar project. To make the red dot perfectly project out in space, you'll need to make the reflector a closely resemble a paraboloid.

    you have an excellent observation actually. my new one that i was going to sell (ran out of time to pursue that) I actually had to scratch one side of the lens so it wouldnt reflect twice. If i had a material to coat the lense that would have worked too but i didnt

    the reason the real one is oval shaped differently going up is because it can do what yours can do stay on the target going down and up yours just needs lenses melted to a up and down position you get me that kinda makes sense too
    nice vid too very accurate
    very nice:)

    i made one of those except it is in that old style, clear square peice of glass, with a sharp display reflecting from the bottom. all i did was just angle the glass at a 45' angle and yeah. these things really aren't complicated.

    If you want to make a "proper" lens and not just a vertical warp: Find a solid ball (i used a metal hand training ball, you can also use a dumbbell or a bowling ball) put in on a grill, place your plastic on top with moderate pressure (use wire to fix it in place) then light the grill. As the ball gets hotter the plastic will warp and concave correctly. Make sure it does not catch on fire or melts. As always - be VERY careful when working with fire, and do not touch the ball until it cools down.

    you're wrong this is not a red dot , it's a holographic sight , which makes the fact that you built even more impressing . Their difference is that the holographic sight seems to project the red dot on the target regardless of the angle from where you're looking.

  • @ngltbhimo
    @ngltbhimo 10 лет назад +3

    This is very impressive! I am trying to see how I can make the same curve as you did but i cant get the hang of it. Is the lens simply curved or is it bulged outwards (convex)? Does the mirror do anything other than add distance?

    • @TyndaleTaylorNelsonHouse
      @TyndaleTaylorNelsonHouse  10 лет назад +1

      yeah the lens is just curved thus it has no vertical accuracy. In my production model prototype video the lens is convex in both directions. The mirror only adds distance, although without the mirror you need a greater warp. It seems to be the greater the warp is, the less accuracy it has.

    Michel Linschoten- Holographic sights usually cost over $300, but basic reflex sights that work like this one cost much less.

    • @GaneralJuggler
      @GaneralJuggler 10 лет назад

      Those are the over priced ones, my dad got his for his AK-47 for $30 and it has had absolutely no problems over the past 3 years

    • @Bob5mith
      @Bob5mith 10 лет назад

      general juggler Those are holographic sights, that work in a completely different way, let more light through, are more accurate, and don't show any light from the front. That difference is worth the extra money to a lot of people. It's not worth it to me, for any gun I have or plan to have in the next few years, but there are good reasons for some people.
      I have a cheap ratchet set in my trunk, but when I was a professional mechanic I had Snap-on tools. One Snap-on socket cost as much my whole set, but it was worth it then, not now.

    @locomurder i think your thinking the led would be mounted where your looking right? well no the light is in the body of the sight and you need it to see it. its ordanary red led you cant see infrared with your naked eye.

    well, the thing is tht u need 2 put the light source exactly at the point of focus of the lense
    thts y u c the dot on target from any point of view, and u also c this dot at "theoritically" infinity distance
    but thx a lot
