I like your channel. I like that there is commentary but it's not too invasive and I much prefer it without the voice. I also like that it's not over-dramatic, aggressive and hysterical like some of the Dashcam channels. I particularly like the motorbike clips but many channels are all about the drama and rev bombing and act like the biker can do no harm in the situation.
Keep it up. I really like these (I may have some clips for you in 6 months once the police have taken the drivers to court).
I really don't understand how people STILL don't know how a merge works. Use the full length of the road. That's why it's there.
That's why we get longer queues, because some tosser has decided to block the other lane. I don't blame the BMW driver for being angry.
Came here to say exactly this - and I love the fact the cammer sent that clip in thinking he was in the right. Hopefully the text on the video and these comments will make them realise their error!
I've seen on another dashcam compilation channel a cammer saying that they purposefully sit in the middle and block both lanes in a zipper merge to "prevent people cutting the queue."

@@farmersboy doesn’t matter how long the queue is as long people learn not to block junctions further back down the line. Ask an emergency service driver if he would rather get through a)One lane at 1km + an empty lane or b) 0.5 km of two free lanes followed by 0.5km totally filled with 2 lanes of traffic? The only argument I see here in support of the BMW guy is that we’re supposed to “fill the space “ right upto the merge point. Which quite rightly is what the HC seems to promote. However I think the emergency vehicle argument is a strong one for not doing this. Plus the bad manners one too.
@7:00 And the guy in the red BMW was right. The lane is open. You should not block it like that. At the point it is closed, then the traffic should zipper merge, as per the Highway Code.
You're 100% right about the people who seem to think that once they put their indicator on that it's suddenly their right of way. I've seen so many near misses by people basically using it as an excuse to cut someone up.
totally agree. people shoul ding be checking for space then indicating and then manoeuvring . it’s so basic, how do people pass there driving tests?

He was over the top aggressive, should've just sat behind calling the driver names and submitted a dash cam video of the dash cammers terrible driving and complete misunderstanding of how to help traffic flow. He let the truck past then blocked the car. Must have seen red 🤣
I loved the ranger rover at 2:50, after being pulled over, they open their door without checking for traffic and could have caused an accident; I hope the police picked on that one too!

@@grahamtaylor6883 The highway code says to do exactly what he's doing - use both lanes until the merger and then merge in turn. The cammer has taken it upon themselves to block traffic in both lanes rather than let it flow correctly.

It’s not queue jumping, if everyone was following the rules there would have been no way for him to “jump the queue” as both lanes would be full of cars. I suppose motorcyclists are arseholes for filtering through traffic too by that logic.

@@duncanmacleod7283 it's closed 200 yards up the road. It's not closed yet. HC advises to use all available lanes. You can see from the clip that there are two lanes available. Instead of having 1 mile of queues covering 2 lanes, everybody going early means 2 miles of queue in 1 lane, and 2 miles of wasted, empty lane.
Yes, before a lane closure use all lanes and then merge in turn - not that everyone seems to understand the merge in turn concept, but hey.
Go to Poland or Germany - you will either learn quickly, or you will lose license xD
Agreed, blocking the road just increases the length of the queue. I have seen this sort of behaviour result in static traffic on the main carriageway of a motorways and dual carriageways, and causing congestion on roundabouts.

Not sure? Is that just understatement? The clown with the red BMW is a moron. Wild over reaction, and one that will land him in strife eventually. I bet it isn’t his first roadside meltdown, and one day he will pick on someone who does ‘have a go’.
To be fair, the cammer kept pulling further and further out and the BMW wasn't far from the kerb when it stopped. A few hundred quid to repair scraped wheel vs the fine. I'd be pretty mad if someone tried taking that money out of my pocket for doing exactly I was supposed to.

5:10 - following an ambulance is against the law everywhere I know of, very dangerous for the crew as the care being provided may require them to be standing inside the unit and, if rear-ended, severe injuries may occur (we had a guy break his neck in a similar situation, paralyzed from the neck down) Please give emergency vehicles the space they need to operate safely!
Also, not sure why he was so petty as to overtake the ambulance when it's only going to have to go past him again when he catches up to the traffic. Some people are absolute self-centred morons.

1:37 - I understand the issues with the merge, but is nobody acknowledging that the Renault pulled out on this guy on the roundabout and then proceeded to close the gap to prevent the BMW from safely merging? Clio is a prick in my eyes
The Clio driver knew exactly what he was doing and is just as bad.
Im not completely sure, but it looked like the BM was turning left from the right hand lane next to the cammer.
The Clio driver contravened the Highway Code, it's a merge-in-turn and the BMW had the right-of-way. Of course then the BMW driver had to be a dick about it to prove a point... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Both as bad as each other.
Here's my take... Traffic on the roundabout has priority, yes, so there's that. There's also the black van that uses lane 2 to turn left in the direction that they're going, so perhaps Renault driver saw the BMW in lane 2 and thought they'd stay there and pulled out?
However, the BMW driver didn't make use of the extra power their vehicle has to get in front, whilst they could and then still wanted to "push in front" and then "cause drama".
The road markings are faint, but the BMW driver missed the merge markings at 1:45 and then drives onto the (again, faint) hatched markings, before yet again failing to merge with the new markings at 1:50 onwards...
A reminder that good drivers have the ability to fix the problems caused by other drivers, so that they don't become an eventful issue. Neither the BMW driver or the Renault driver are good here.
@GaffaTV I was thinking, on the point about the BMW not accelerating; You can see they're entering a 30 and there are signs for speed cameras; my take is that the BMW didn't want to exceed that limit - the Clio on the other hand accelerated quite harshly (to the point where they had to brake, so likely exceeded speed limit just to close the gap and block the BMW.
Yes, the BMW clearly noticed this and decided to take the stubborn route, but frankly I would've done the same if someone pulled out in front of me on a roundabout and then blocked me from merging.
The brake checking and swerving however, a little childish.

Why would he have even submitted the clip - made any doubt he was in the wrong very clear.
While in the wrong it's generally the convention you don't wait till the last second blasting through traffic if everyone is already queuing like civilised people.
You'll find most people won't allow someone to merge past 200 yards if everyone is already queuing

It's crazy, I've never seen videos that put the commentary in text at the bottom of the screen, it works surprisingly well.

1:30 Clio definitely in the wrong by not letting the BMW merge. However, looking at the cammer's footage several times, I believe the BMW was not on the roundabout but in the right lane next to the cammer. Google maps show no markings and in my opinion, the BMW drove perfectly safely by entering the roundabout in the right lane and exiting in the right lane, albeit, a left turn. His manoeuvre may have been cheeky, at worst.
Agree so far, the Clio driver failed to let the BMW merge in turn. But the BMW driver's behaviour after that was despicable, and any sympathy I might have had went out the window.
Quite correct ive answered it above.
Council force stupidly on the A460 to take the right lane to go straight on or turn right. But retain original 1985 road markings. Clio would have seen BMW in right lane for max 4 seconds before it may have intended to veer in to left original lane fine, hence why he is half way over when seen.
Clio closed the gap but also pulled out making BMW take right lane entering.
6:45 blocking merge lane is common in Poland, we call them sheriffs of the road
Yeah, I see this regulary that foreign truck driver block the ending lane hundreds of yards before it ends here in Germany. But drivers just not have the right to use the ending lane until it ends, it´s even a law in Germany to use it and change over right before the blockage. PS: cammer is an idiot, sorry, need to say this.
Merge in turn police. Frustrating to watch. There was a clip a while back of a car that held up miles of traffic in the right hand lane of three lanes, whereas the right hand lane meged off to another road and had no bearing on the stopped traffic in the other 2 lanes. The car driver had multiple people pleading with him to see sense and move over. How no one used force in that situation, I'm surprised.
I seen people quing in the "open lane" when the lane that had the closed sign wasn't actually closed (see this often with 2 hour bus lanes, personally I am fine with it as it becomes my own personal lane because people can't read)
Whoever the cammer is at 6:40 is in the wrong. Not only obstructing traffic flow, but also causing an obstruction. There is a reason is a merge and the lane is open for another 200yds, its to help traffic flow you tool...
A lot of drivers don't know the updated version of Rule 134 - especially those over 50 or so who mostly learnt off their parents who learnt when the general guidance for driving was to form a nice orderly queue and that kind of thing and have never looked at the highway code since.

I've had to inform many younger drivers this is what they should be doing.
I was coming to a merge tailback and in the left lane it straddled a traffic lighted junction on a 60mph road. Not a car in the right hand lane for more than 100 yards.

I really don’t understand those who take it upon themselves to prevent cars merging farther up the road than they have. Used to work with two friends who took pride in it, one would drive by the side of the other until the very end of the merge then his mate would let him in. Experienced many times whilst on my motorbike drivers who deliberately close the gap between them when side by side in slow traffic to prevent motorcycles filtering up the middle. Some have lost wing mirrors as a result !
It comes to something when you actually avoid following the highway code because of cretins like this. Wing mirror slaps are WELL deserved.

I suspect it's not the following the ambulance as such, but that by doing that you're possibly/probably breaking all kinds of other rules: speeding, running red lights, tailgating, dangerous and/or inconsiderate driving, and more. It's also more dangerous for the ambulance and slows them down if they're being tailgated, as the driver has to worry about the tailgater going into his back if he has to break suddenly.

In the very first clip the driver needs to learn that the horn is meant to be used to give advance warning of approach ; not as a rebuke after an event

The red BMW driver, although over aggresive, had a right to be pissed off with the van/wagon driver trying to block. It is illegal to do so, and the red BMW had every right to use that lane until the merge. Then it's "merge in turn". Using both lanes up to the cones is faster than everyone just using one. Blocking a lane just because you dont like peope doing the legal thing will get you a nice fine
Same with filtering on motorbikes. It's happened to me a few times.

The UK needs to start using the same traffic sign as the US... "Merge like a zip"... It makes it completely clear how drivers should merge and would save drivers a lot of time every year.

@@mijimonmaster Merge in turn is a poor choice of grammar, given that "turn" can be confused with "left turn" etc. Merge like a zip (then a graphic of a zip) is much clearer. Clarity is king on the roads, where motorists must read and react to multiple signs quickly, as well as doing many other things simultaneously.
Although well intentioned your argument falls flat on its face with the use of the word it’s “faster” this way. Unfortunately that’s mathematically impossible. You need to recalibrate your thought process along with most people here that agree with the bmw driver. It is mathematically impossible to be any faster , 100 cars through one pinch point , theoretically takes exactly the same amount of “time” regardless of the number of lanes leading upto that pinch point. Your thought process is confused probably along with your driving style /technique.

It’s called Filter in turn.. read the Highway Code, use the filter lanes that’s why they are there.

01:45 Renault Clio driver caused that issue by deciding to accelerate instead of easing up and letting bmw merge safely.
Imo they caused it even earlier than that. To me it looks like the BMW driver wanted to exit the roundabout on the left lane but the Clio driver pulled out preventing them from doing so.
I agree, the clio was also tailgating to close the gap on the BMW way before the merge, then tailgated the BMW afterwards. However, the BMW shouldn't brake check.

Bit of give and take. There were no issues there, the merge arrows were clear. Clio driver was being quite petty.
Clio driver initially at fault, but no excuse for the BMW driver's behaviour afterwards. If both pulled over by the Police, I'd say the Clio driver would have had a verbal warning, BMW driver could be looking at points on their license because their driving was verging on if not actually dangerous.

3:40 The road marking to indicate no overtaking/crossing the line is literally right there: a solid white line. Maybe the person who had written that piece of subtitling was being sarcastic, but there are so many drivers on the road who actually don't know it despite having passed their test. It's one of the first things people are taught on driving lessons.

#14 - why is the camera blocking both lanes. If the cars queued in both lanes the queue would be shorter and people couldn't queue jump.

Think you've slightly misread situation there. At 1:41, the Renault pulled a move that was rather debatable on the BMW, so I'm not surprised that BMW was keen to redress the balance. Renault driver was clearly "up for it", and tried to fend BMW off. What we are witnessing is two egos determined to have the last word on the matter at whatever cost.
Regardless of " ... life's too short to ...", I don't feel that careless driving and bad manners shouldn't be rewarded. It only serves to add to their already overinflated sense of self importance!
Sometimes making them work for it is an enjoyable pastime on an otherwise boring journey ;)

Dear #14. Go read the highway code. It says use all lanes. Traffic enforcement is not your job, and you are doing it at wrong time, in wrong place. Using both lanes, and doing a proper merge in turn halves the queue length, and is both quicker and safer for all. Numpty!

I really do wish that other road users would realise that the BMW driver is not subject to the same rules and regulations as us mere humans. The other driver should be honoured that he was allowed to use the same part of the road as the Beemer.
The Beemer driver had the right-of-way. It's a merge-in-turn, and the other car pushed ahead to deliberately block the Beemer. That's what it says in the Highway Code.

Not only Is the BMW (for once) doing the correct thing, but it is not anyones job to start enforcing the law regardless, don’t cause accidents / crashes for no reason. Saw a guy yesterday block someone who was flying up the hard shoulder. Yes they were in the wrong but don’t cause an accident by trying to enforce laws
In the UK you 'Give Way' yielding is a wrong term to use, even in the USA.
Blocking a lane that is still open is illegal, the guy has 200 yards before he needs to filter into the traffic
6:45 In a lot of European countries what the cammer guy is doing is actually ILLEGAL. The Merge lane is suppose to be used until it ends. By blocking it (in Poland we call it "Szeryfowanie" eng. sheriffing) you are more likely to cause bigger traffic jam than it needs to be. If everyone where driving and using the technice called "zipper merge" (when two lanes merge into one, each lane lets one car at time, one from left lane then right lane and again left lane) the traffic would move way faster, but of course there are idiots that often will not let other drivers merge with excuse "I was in this lane already so I don't let anyone in".
I saw a mobility buggy cross two sets of traffic lights shewing green for fast traffic and then he proceeded down the main road despite a very wide pavement on his left. I had the dashcam unconnected...shucks! He got loudly hooted. My town must be mobility city...so many everywhere.

The car he was blocking had a dashcam and they sent it into our works.
He got a final written warning for that.
He told us all, said he didn't deserve that 🤣

Hate to fall in to car stereotyping but as soon as I saw the Range Rover in Clip #6 I knew it was going to be the 'offender' in an incident.
In my experience it could equally have been a large Audi, BMW, Mercedes, or the latest 'entitled driver who likes to intimidate other road users' vehicle, a Ford Ranger. And the last in that list is by far the worst.

I agree on that last clip 8:08 that when I see someone that wants to change lane I help let them in. But there are times of course when there is traffic in one lane because of where it leads to and people think they can skip down a different lane and try force their way in at the last second. Those people do not get let in. Judging by the queue in this lane and not the other with other cars trying to get in further back I think that is the case here. So good on them for not letting the van bully its way through.

@ 5:58. The separation to of the camera vehicle to lorry in L1 is fractionally over 2 seconds. 2 seconds should be a minimum. At this point brake lights on the car in L2 come on followed almost immediately by those on the lorry ahead in L1. Yet the camcar driver closes on the lorry and pulls out into L2 when well within a safe following distance to the lorry. (This seems to be a classic case of the domino effect, which itself can cause major incidents.) in other words much too close to the lorry. (You don't want to be closer than the minimum braking distance for the speed (240ft for 60 and 315ft for 70) before pulling out; also as you get closer you lose view.) Again you don't want to change into another lane until you have a safe following distance to a vehicle in that lane. So the camcar driver pulls out too close to the van, not having observed the issues ahead and immediately gets into an emergency braking situation. He or she has nobody to blame but him (or her) self for a near crash situation. The other point is signals. They are not a right of passage but too many, mainly because they are not looking and thinking far enough ahead, put signals on as they are starting (or even after they have started) to manoeuvre which is a useless exercise. Signals perform two functions (1) they inform of intention and (2) they ask. To achieve those goals they have to be applied in sufficient time for other motorists to see and understand their meaning, check there is no conflict and THEN make the manoeuvre. From the evolution of this scenario the camcar driver (a) was following too closely (b) was not looking far enough ahead, (3) got caught out by the evolving situation resulting in (4) caught unawares by the lorry braking in L1 and given the short following distance was quickly right up behind the lorry resulting in the domino action into L2 close behind the van and the immediate emergency stop. If the camcar driver had been at 3-4 seconds and been looking an thinking ahead he or she could comfortably have pulled up behind the lorry and saved all the drama and potentially dangerous domino into L2. Dominos into L2 can often cause further dominos into L3 for similar reasons. . A classic mindset for a crash also with brain not fully engaged. Look ahead. Think ahead and remember that space and time are you greatest asset for safety. You quite literally lose them at your peril

At 7.00 the red bmw driver overreacted but he is correct. The merge is 200 yds away, heck that is 20 secs to Usain bolt. Too often a vehicle, often a lorry will block 1 lane 600 yds from the merge but they are only slowing traffic down. Tip use both lanes and merge in turn it will flow far more easily.
At 5:45, they did, because their "blues and twos" are on. As for the car driver; you can blame Bruce Willis in Die Hard 3 for coming up with THAT one!
Your wrong mate. The red BMW driver is just jumping the queue. Should be in the correct lane by then. The signs usually start at least 800m out so plenty of time to get into the correct lane for the upcoming road works. He's just a chancer trying to get a little bit ahead of the queue.
For high speed traffic. For slow moving traffic you should merge in turn at the point of constriction
@techheck3358 200 metres to go, and he hasn't joined the queue. Could have indicated to join the queue hundreds of yards back, but no etiquette shown, he is just a chancer who thinks he's more important than everyone else and tries to act tough when he's found out.

You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended
@techheck3358 how is the traffic going to move faster when someone has to stop and let him in, when he could have joined further back and not create a bottle kneck. Who cares what the highway code says, which by the way doesn't give a definitive answer, it is down to individual interpretation, he's still a queue jumping idiot who thinks he's clever. I dont condone the blocking manoeuvre but that car was probably flying up the inside lane towards the merge point which is also reckless and classed as undertaking. Just have to agree to disagree on this.
