Absolutely! It got to where I avoided going there even during the day. There was something every single night on the news about gang shootings and robberies. Maryvale's bad news.
I have lived in Maryvale for 15 yrs. Gun fire is not at all uncommon, and strangers are not made to feel welcome. The funniest thing is that when we can hear that something happened or is happening on the street, all the porch lights go and it gets as dark as a MIL's heart. There is some funny stuff that happens too, but mostly, don't come visiting at night.
Winslow girl here. I'm disappointed that you took one isolated incident in our town and decided it was dangerous here. Three dudes yelling at your car one time? C'mon man.
my daughter is a nurse and lives in a very expensive high rise condo in downtown phoenix...she was just a short distance from home in the middle of the day, when two men ran up behind her, pushing her to the ground...knocked out her two front teeth and stole her purse...less than a month later, same time of day, she was attacked by a man who punched her and spit in her face...that time the cops apprehended him but the other two were never caught...neither incident was provoked
Your daughter is a nurse maybe she should consider moving withing Arizona or to a mid-west town with low crime. Nurses are needed everywhere throughout the country.
my son in law is a professor at asu and the hospital she works for is very close...grocery stores, etc are right there so cars are not needed...they take the light rail to and from or call an uber if need be...when going out of town, which is rarely, they rent a vehicle...so it makes since to live where they are @@onenikkione
When was the last time you were anywhere near the US/Mexico border, sir? With all due respect, most of the places you’ve mentioned here are low key compared to the current situation down here in the border counties. Talk to Sheriff Dannels of Cochise County. He’s often given people ride alongs to explain the situation down here. It’s not safe to drive on our roads anymore. Nope, things aren’t nice.
I have two former co-workers who retired down that way. One lives in Bisbee and the other in Patagonia. So far they have not had any serious problems until these migrants started coming in when they opened the border. Since then there has been some shoplifting and property crimes.
I have lived in Tucson for 20 years now and I will honestly say the homeless situation has gotten horrendously worse as well as parts of town I wouldn't like to particularly be in although I'm a nurse and I travel all over in the daytime. There really isn't any place in town I'd want to be after dark other than in my home. Hoping to leave the state in the next few years for rural Missouri.
I left Arizona in 1990 and have lived in Arkansas (still do) as well as rural Missouri and also Oklahoma. Mizzou is mostly ok but it is in tornado alley but then so is where I live.
@@muffs55mercury61 I live in MO near what used to be "tornado alley".. it's moved south to TN and KY.. first solid indication was the Joplin tornado in (I think 2012).
@@chrissupport 2011 on the Joplin tornado, also the same year the massive F-5 hit Tuscaloosa, AL and another in Moore, OK. Yes I think tornado alley has moved to the east. I'm in Arkansas but the last 10 years or so it's Mississippi and Alabama that keep getting battered.
@@muffs55mercury61 I'm curious if it will move further south, but the warmer Gulf water may stop it. We're getting a warm weather winter storm in a few days.. this usually means heavy storms for someone. The last bad tornado we had was in 2011.. it started west of here, jumped over my area, then landed a few miles east and stayed low or on the ground all the way into IL... blew out huge windows at STL airport. My buddy worked for city of Bridgeton.. they cleared up HUGE downed trees and hauled them to Carrollton subdivision land vacated by airport buyout... it took crews 3 months working 8 hr days to collect/move it. There was a LOT of good oak for firewood... google maps satellite view shows it's all gone now.
I'm a retired L4 security guy and security planer. Every part of a city, in every state, is dangerous. I would encourage everyone to take some situational awareness classes. It can save your life and that of someone you love. Very good video. Thanks!
@@buttdreads That's hilarious. Phoenix is the sphincter of AZ. Tucson is better than Phoenix at any time. Keep trying to convince yourself. The Delusions you have aren't contagious.
Been to Bullhead City and it seemed nice! Right next to Laughlin which is way nicer than Las Vegas because there is less traffic, a Beautiful river and lots of hiking!
I'm in my sixties and have lived my whole life in the Phx area all my life. I agree with all the places and would also add anything south of grand avenue. Especially around camelback, bethany home and glendale ave.
67 here and I was raised in the area of 7th St & Bethany. It was still safe to walk the neighborhoods which I often did (for sentimental reasons) on visits there until 2014 when mom died. I left Phoenix in 1990 and have not been back since 2015. Such a sad state of affairs. Besides the crime they have torn down almost anything that's over 40 years old and now they're gong after older residences as well. Disgusting.
I've lived in AZ for 50 plus years and grew up in Tempe. I've lived the past 10 years in Mesa. I am surprised that Tempe was on this list. And as far as walking around in certain places after dark, I don't believe that is the best idea no matter where you are. In all my years here I have not yet been a victim of any crime. I hope that my luck will continue, but all in all I think most of AZ is just as good as anywhere else except for the hot temps.
I agree. I’ve lived in Tempe for three years and never had any problem. There’s homeless people anywhere but they don’t seem like they’re on Mill Avenue anymore. I think they cleaned up that area. Plus everything’s very high-end now. It was definitely ghetto before 2000s.
We lived in Tempe on Baseline Rd Apt from 2009- 2013 never had issues people attacking us. I'm not going to lie though I was always afraid and looked over my shoulders when I get home from work at might or 2 in the morning very Erie feelings. Few night there were helicopter above our Apt and once car almost got broken that was it until we moved to Chandler.
@@avlisk Both the Right to Open Carry, and Conceal Carry in Arizona is automatic to any 18 year old, who can legally own a weapon. I live in Arizona so I know.
@@rayb.6537 Unless you are inside your locked house, and perps do a B&E. Open and shut case. How could YOU possibly be looking for trouble when YOU are inside your own house with the doors locked. Hard to dispute that one.
You forgot El Mirage, near Surprise. 36,000 people. I don't know what the exact stats are but the crime has to be substantial. On the Ring neighborhood app, there's something going on there virtually every night. Definitely a place to avoid if possible, especially at night.
I've been going back-and-forth between Arizona and Colorado for the past 4 years. I'm ultimately choosing to settle in arizona and this video is confirming that decision. I don't think people realize it, but colorado is a lot worse and, As you were listing cities, I was just thinking to myself, "I am certainly not afraid of Arizona." 😂 Freaking love AZ!
I've been going back and forth between Pennsylvania and Arizona since 2014. AZ is also my future forever home. I love it here too! It's so gorgeous! I won't even get started on how wonderful the arid climate is. The east can keep the nasty humidity! Best wishes for your future move! 🙂🌴🌞🌵⛰️🏜
REALLY ITS SO HORRIBLE LIVING HERE. If I was you, I'd think twice about choosing Colorado over here. It's a shit hole now days. I lived in Colorado for 19 years and buddy you must not be here very often. They move them away for special events because they don't want anyone from other states to see how F**KED UP it really is. They were suppose to have the downtown cleaned up and they were not making any improvements on it so the city is or gonna be paying big bucks for not doing what they were told to do. THE GOVERNMENT WAS GIVEN UP. THE POLICE SEE NOTHING. HOMELESS SMOKING DRUGS IN BUS STOPS WERE FAMILIES ARE WAITING FOR THE BUSES. COPS LOOK THE OTHER WAY. If they do arrest someone they are back out on the streets within hours of getting arrested. Colorado is nothing compared to here. The weather here keeps the bullshit even stronger. Who wants to live where it's snowing and cold. I still have family there so I'm there alot. (COLORADO) UNLESS YOU WANT THE DRUGS THAT ARE KILLING PEOPLE DAILY. ONLY REASON ANYONE WANTS TO BE LIVING LIKE THIS IS THE DRUGS AND COST OF LIVING. $23.00 for a frozen whole chicken. Gas is finally going down from $5.00 a gal. That's about all that has gotten cheaper.
@@CrystalRapoza 😄👏 The native Arizonans often try to deter people from moving here. After I bought my house in 2015, I had neighbors saying "You don't want to move here. It's hot." 😄 It is? I didn't know that. Gee I guess I should sell my house then. 😉😆🤣
I lived in Tempe for 36 years. Have taken the light rail numerous times. Tempe is safe from my experience. Light rail is great. Yes some people riding are homeless but they are not bad people. Usually mind their business. It is fine to ride please use it if able or when needed. Tempe is fine and at night just be aware of surroundings in certain areas. Certain pockets are very dark. Crime is everywhere and possible at any time. Again just stay safe, aware and mindful. Love AZ ❤️
I lived in Sunnyslope from 10 yrs old until I graduated high school and it sucked...and now it's even worse. Everyone is called a "sloper" that lives there and yes, the drugs are making our entire Phoenix area worse...I hate going into the main central phoenix area now. I'm a delivery driver and the difference is staggering between there and Scottsdale. Every time I go into Phoenix there are SO MANY homeless people now. I live in N. Phoenix now, about maybe 3-5 miles or so from central phoenix and it's a little better than living there, but the homeless encampments are starting to pop up in the neighborhood behind our gated community (it's a retirement community basically, I'm just allowed to live there w/my mom)...things are just getting worse everywhere, our country is falling apart.
Sunnyside is not near Grand Canyon University. GCU is at 35rh Ave & Camelback, it's not near light rail, bus travel would mean several transfers and traffic in Phoenix makes that a bit far for students to commute.
My wife and I just went through Kingman on the way home from Iowa. Arizona’s government might want to spend some money on the freeway’s on the 70 and the 40. Those ruts and broken asphalt can kill your tires and suspension. It is as if the government has forgotten about those roads. We saw big rigs driving in the emergency lane to avoid the slow lane.
There has been talk about I-40 for years but looks like that's all that is so far. Also a bypass to US 93 from 40 so Vegas travelers don't have to go thru Kingman.
The government officials have not forgotten anything. They just pocketed the funds and said it's not in the budget. Just look at the fools that are involved in government in arizona. Do some research. All fools and thieves. This is not the wild west, it's the stupid dirty west.
I don't understand where all the money they bring in goes. You never see anything being fixed up or something started that's new. The sports teams alone bring so much 💵💵💵 to Phoenix.
I40 is a main transportation route for Semi's. They tear up the roads quickly. We need those truckers but man the roads suck when they're through with them lol
Growing up in Phoenix (and Glendale), it used to be the homeless, criminals, and drug addicts used to stay in the rougher parts of town. Now it seems they just go anywhere they want until they ruin the area. Mill used to be a normal college area that we hung out in the early 90s. Lots of places never felt unsafe decades ago. Now I don’t go anywhere without a handgun.
I’ve lived in Tucson, Glendale, Phoenix, Peoria, Flagstaff, Oro Valley, and now Prescott Valley. I like seasons, and hate the heat, so Prescott Valley and Flagstaff are my top two. Oro Valley would be my 3rd, because of the awesome mountain views, low crime, better roads, hiking, less traffic, etc.
All Arizona is a permit-less Carry state. Either open OR concealed. I am 72 and carried concealed all my life but never had to pull it out. You did well in this video when covering the "seedy" areas of our towns. That homeless encampment in south Phoenix shown has been cleaned up and everyone moved. Will they come back? Who knows. The old time Hobo's always camped along Railroad tracks for a reason. The property is railroad and therefore Federal. State, county and city police have no jurisdiction, so they are left alone. Good video!
Please do not confuse South Tucson with Tucson. South Tucson was formed as a reaction to fears that being annexed by Tucson would lead to higher taxes. South Tucson was incorporated as a separate city in 1936. Property owners gathered at Yell-O-Inn auto court to vote the town into existence. The City of South Tucson covers an area of about 1.2 square miles and is completely surrounded by the City of Tucson, Arizona. I've lived in midtown Tucson for the last 12 years and feel safe even though there are patches of exceptions. Our homeless population is present but only in small clusters around town. Our homeless task force works hard to get them off the streets and washes into a safer situation...but they have to want the help. I love ❤ living in Tucson, 'cept during the summer when the temps are triple digits way too many consecutive days.
I don't think he's specifically talking about the city of South Tucson. He's talking about the entire area of the south end of town towards the airport.I lived there on S. Park, and yeah, it wasn't the greatest area even then, in the early to mid eighties.
Please allow me to share my perspective. All of Tucson is a very undesirable place to live. The environment itself is gross. All the houses look very aged. Brand new or 40 years old. Every house looks very bad. Trash everywhere, graffiti on everything, homeless people on every corner demanding money for their addiction. Tucson is a very desperate place. I have a feeling that a fee corrupt people are having a great time making tons of money off unnecessary costs of living in Tucson. For example. The vehicle emissions fee??? Air quality? Are you shitting me? Look at all these vehicles spewing out exhaust. Look straight up, day after day military planes going over. I am sure that they are green energy planes. All of Tucson is a pretty sorry way to live.
The heat should not bother one too much because all means of public and private transportation is air-conditioned as are all the malls, places of business and other indoor entertainment venues. A good idea when going about your day is to cover the hardware on your seat belts, hang a white bath towel over your steering wheel. Keeps you from "branding" yourself. Heed the extreme/excessive heat warnings; yes, they will appear on your cell phone. Couple of more words to the wise, semi-wise, the too unwise : wear a sun/ safari type hat preferably one with that flap that covers the back of your neck, and generously slather on the the highest ph sunscreen available. Drivers are prone to get sunburns on the left side of their face, neck and left arm. As the old adage goes it's HOT, but it's a DRY HEAT, which will take its toll on you if you become dehydrated. So, enjoy your stays here in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, just don't be a FOOL and LOSE your COOL"
Homeless task force is a joke! It takes them way to long to remove homeless camps! Then housing first. The stupidly run democRATic government, toots their horn about putting homeless in housing. Then comes treatment, which we don't know if that works? How many go back to the street because they refuse treatment? Tucson is getting sued because homeless camps are a public nuisance. Every neighborhood that has a homeless camp near, petty crime goes up! Of course theres the violence. There have been like 12 stabbings around tucson, homeless on homeless crime. My biggest fear is getting stabbed by a panhandler because I refused to give him money. So I carry a gun. Well I carry a gun anyhow. Lets talk about the parks. Citizens can't bring their children to play in the parks because they are over run by homeless. You don't have a realistic understanding of the danger vagrants pose!
I grew up in YUMA . We moved there in 1971. We grew up with Yuma and I have seen so many changes! I went home in October of 23 and didn't hardly recognize it! I still love YUMA and it will always be the home I come home to!
I lived in SouthCentral Phoenix for several years. Drugs, prostitution, and crime were common place on 7th Ave and I was within 3 minute walk to FBI building and Phoenix police building. The city tore down my entire block and just left it as an undeveloped lot. A lot of transient population bounce around the state due to its climate and proximity to the border. Madison St used to be location of St. Vincent kitchen and there was a shelter and homeless mail pick up down there also. Haven't been around there for a decade but it looks like it hasn't changed.
I have lived in the sunnyslope area now for 61 years. I live near the light rail. Ever since they built a QT gas station and the light rail crime has significantly gotten worse. There's almost a night that doesn't go by that the police helicopter isnt flying over head. The police chopper has the nickname The ghetto bird.
At one time it used to be nice as I grew up two & a half miles from Sunnyslope and we went there all the time. The last time I was there in 2014 it felt uncomfortable as there were people watching all the time probably looking for a target.
I'll tell you what. I lived in Sunnyslope for several years, from 2000 through 2015, and if you're a single woman sitting at a bus stop, more often than not, they're gonna assume you're a "business lady", as a polite way of putting it. I lived behind the Fry's at Cave Creek and Hatcher, and I'd be walking home from the store or even in line at cutomer service, and get propositioned. I was not a young lady, mind you, I was from my early 50's up until I was 66! And I made every effort to dress as modestly as was possible for 110 degree temperatures. There was a space in the wall of the parking lot that you would go through to get to my apts., and There was a guy standing there wanted to put me to work. I told him I was a 60 year old grandma, but that still didn't stop him. Another time I was sitting in front of my apts. waiting for the neighborhood circulator to go to church on a Sunday morning. The guy who lived across the street, came across and also wanted to put me to work. I told him, "I'm going to church, for crying out loud, I'm not looking for a job, thank you," and I told him how old I was, but he still insisted on giving me his card. I'm not bragging, it's just that thy don't care. So yeah, Sunnyslope, especially in the area of Cave Creek, south of Cactus Rd., isn't the greatest area for single women living alone, especially if you're young and attractive or not even attractive...or young...just female! At least in my experience.
67 here. So sad about that!! In the mid 80's I dated someone who lived in the area of Cave Creek & Union Hills Drive. We frequented those areas on Cave Creek and on the other roads (Bell, Thunderbird, Cactus, etc a lot and it was safe then, Now I hear there's a bunch of gang activity around Greenway Rd. So sad what it's become. I'm sure when Rt 51 came thru that made it easier for criminals to escape if they committed something major. I left Phoenix in 1990 and haven't been back since 2015.
😢 So sorry that happened to you. Maybe buy a big dog and have him with you 24/7 or have your groceries delivered? Or maybe go shopping with a neighbor or ask a teenager accompany you? I wish I had an answer to your situation. Please be careful.💯
@@dianaromero9691 Thank you so much for your concern! My mother passed in 2015, and at the very same time, the owner of my apts. gave everyone in the building a 30 day notice to move, as he had contracted with the government to turn the apts into disabled housing). The only place I had to go was to move with my daughter in Missouri, so I'm now living in a senior housing complex in a nice neighborhood in Springfield, MO., and I don't miss Phoenix in the least. ☺️
I left AZ 20 years ago, and don't regret it! I drove a cab in Phoenix metro for 10 years, and while most working girls work in the central Phoenix area, especially Vanburen, you can see them in a lot of other areas of the city as well.
I live in Tucson AZ, I retired as a Parole Officer in Tucson and also covered the surrounding areas north of Tucson. Our biggest issues are Meth, Heroin and Fentanyl. Tucson is part of the drug corridor from Mexico. We don’t have near the crime rate of Phoenix. Meth has pretty much Infested everywhere especially in economically depressed small towns. Most of our Inmate population in our prisons are coming from the Phoenix area. Most of the legal gun owners in Arizona are not part of our criminal problem. Any place you allow homeless camps you are going to have major issues. Arizona’s crime problem does not compare with the east-coast but it is getting worse.
Your videos have been sooo helpful for me!! We are looking into possibly moving to Arizona for my hubby's job.....and it had soo nice having a reliable source to get those nuggets of information from! Thank you soo much!!
I grew up in Globe Miami went to school in Globe Miami Az. The biggest probem there is all in who you hang out with and what your doing. There is drugs there yes but there are drugs everywhere as well. If you dont get into the drugs and stay out of the bars getting sloppy drunk your not going to have to worry about anything. Including at night. The community pulls together when anything happens and helps each other. There are amazing people there and there are a few bad apples just like anywhere else. Love my home town!
We spent 6 days in Arizona last summer and Kingman definitely made us feel a little uncomfortable. Mainly the locals. All the other places we visited in AZ from Winzlow to Flagstaff to Phoenix to Tucson to Tombstone the locals were so nice. Especially in Winslow and Flagstaff.
Oh no. Kingman is bad?? I was born there but haven't been back there since I was very little . Kingman was considered to be as safe as ahwatukee Gilbert or Chandler The thought it's gone downhill is 💔
You missed Guadalupe, small town between Tempe and Phoenix that has the most gang members per capita than any other city in AZ. Tempe also has one of the highest crime rates in the country, 1 in 19 chance of being a victim of crime. NEVER go to 48th Street from Broadway to Baseline. Lots of officer involved shootings there, armed robberies, stolen cars, etc. The fire dept refuses to go into the condos on the NWC of Broadway & 48th St. Phoenix police only go in with at least 3 officers. It's because, the residents there like to shoot at the police and fire fighters. Loads of gangs too in that area, along of murders, drugs, prostitution, stolen cars. This has been true for decades.
Intersections most definitely to avoid in Phoenix are: 27th ave & Northern (especially the QT), 19th ave & Camelback (massive pedestrian foot traffic), and 59th ave & Bethany home rd. (public park hosts a lot of homeless).
I used to live in Bethany home & 59th lol my first night there a helicopter was searching for someone who stabbed someone. Second night officer involved shooting. Then nothing after that lol but it seemed to happen all around the apartments I lived in just never at those apartments. 😂
That’s where all the ugly prostitutes are and fentanyl users aka homeless people are. There’s a RUclips channel that interviews a lot of these homeless and that’s the area he goes to alot that QT is bad. But I still have never been harassed or had a gun pulled on me like this guy that posted video has
Well, then, definitely do not go to Broadway or Buckeye and: 24th st, 16th St, 7th st, central, 7th ave, 15th ave, 19th Ave -- need I go on? Lived here almost 50 yrs, and like any city of 5+ million, there are gonna be some less than desirable places to be...
I spent 3 months in Kingman last winter and visited bullhead city multiple times. Didn't really see anything too sketchy and certainly didn't notice a ton of ppl on drugs. The only violence I experienced was from a burro 😅
Right. I only heard and see on the news how bad Maryvel is never been there. Laveen wasn't bad when we used to owned our home on 17th Ave on Baseline in 2002 when Subdivision were started. However our home was broken in 3 times in broad day light in 2 months. Next to our newly built Subdivision was a rundown neighborhood next to Elementary school. We moved 2009.
Fascinating tour! Thank you. For some reason, many of the places portrayed look quite desolate and depressing. I'd hate to think of being "stuck" there.
Grand Canyon University isn't close to Sunnyslope. They are about 7 miles apart. Sunnyslope is on Central and Dunlap. G.C. University is on Camelback and 35 Avenue. In Phoenix, Arizona.
The first time I drove through Kingman I was stopped by police twice in a matter of less than 30 minutes. I realized then that it was a dangerous place. It was 11pm and I was looking for a hotel but opted to continue driving. Since then I have learned about which neighborhoods to avoid an I've visited Kingman several times. Thinking about retiring there now
I live in Scottsdale for more than 24 years, and I finally left because it seemed like the homeless were out of control and moving into Scottsdale even. I was safe in my gated community, but if I went to PHX it was another story. I moved to Tucson and I love it! The mountains are beautiful. I like the town and the surrounding areas and so much wildlife with magnificent views.
There are areas in Scottsdale that are as problematic as any in Phoenix, but for different reasons. There are areas in Scottsdale that attract predators like schools of fish attract sharks....
Guadalupe is very dangerous and has one of the higher crime rates in the nation. I got irked when the video clip heading to central Phoenix was actually northbound on the 51.
Hi.been to Phx nine times and always took light rail down to Tempe and back again, never felt scared on the train.Christown and area around celebrity theatre are scary places also around Van Buren, love Phx and miss it every day,but Im old now and no more long flights for me. Barbro from Sweden LOVE TO YOU ALL 💟☮️
Enjoy your program. I lived in Happy Jack for 18 years and often shopped and ate in Winslow but never had a problem with crime or even concerned about it. I was approached a couple of times by people who wanted money but never felt threatened. I do know on the national stats that crime is a bit high in Winslow but also in towns not mentioned in this video like Williams. Incidentally you did mention that Kingman is in east Arizona. Of course, you know it is in west part of the state.
Very useful info. Seems credible. I’m considering buying a winter months residence in Tucson. Your South Tucson info was helpful. I’d love to hear a Tucson-area focused video similar to this one.
I live in Yuma violent crime is very high here but only in a few areas. most shootings and murders happen in the west/northwest sections, there are more areas that are high drug areas than there are violent crimes.
I've lived in Arizona My whole life. In fact, I grew up over on 67th in-between camelback and Indian school, and it was pretty rough back then. But now, when I go over there, it makes me want to throw up. I get such bad anxiety it's pretty scary. People look at you like they know you don't live around there. Different parts of sunny slope definitely make me nervous going into especially down hatcher. And down central makes me sad to see how for gone a lot of it Is. 😕 then you get the Rich part of it, and it's like you're in a completely different universe, lol. I would have never thought Kingman would have been that bad that surprised me. Tempe, I can see it's definitely a drug sale place. I've been uncomfortable walking around there.
Eloy. Memories of going to play athletics with them. We were instructed to not talk to anyone, stay together. When leaving the game, the students and adults would hit the bus with sticks and throw rocks and yell profanities. That was years ago. I wonder if it's changed.
most definetely. I live in murdervale (maryvale) livged in coolidge, casa grande and florence. dude has no clue. most places dude named are like shangri-la compared to them ☠
Dude: You are WAY WRONG about Arizona. I moved here from Mpls. Mn. over 23 years ago and I still feel MUCH SAFER here in AZ. than I ever did in Minneapolis
Nice list. I say you are pretty spot on. Ive lived in Scottsdale for nearly 10 years. Tempe is the only area my family has really had any problms in, we avoid most of Tempe.
I've lived in South Tempe and for the most part, it's pretty safe. Most of my problems have been on Mill Ave near the university. Not one day went by where I didn't see a fight break out.
I thought Tucson was tough until I've been living in the worst neighborhoods in Phoenix the last 3 years,Van Buren and 31st Ave and work around 19th Ave and Buckeye. Bro. I'm dying to escape but this job is so good! I can imagine other states and cities are worse. 90% is drug addicts
yep! 35th and Van Buren has always been very bad. 30 years ago I use to deliver to a grocery store at night there and the store had a off duty police officer guarding the door at night. Every night I heard gun shots in the area. One night someone drove by my truck while I was unloading shot some rounds and as I looked at my side of my trailer before I left found a couple of holes in the trailer.
I was in the military for 10 years living every where and have lived in AZ the last 8 years. As long as you are you are chill and cool with people this is nothing. I drove some wild people in Apache Junction when i did Lyft and had no issues
I live in Kingman AZ. I came from S. California a year and a half ago, and I would say, It’s different here like day and night. Actually, I was amazed at it being listed as one of those dangerous cities. People are a lot friendlier here, I am disabled from a previous fatal heart attack. People were so rude and in a hurry in California. There are always People wanting to help me and holding the door for me and my wheelchair etc. It’s more laid back here, I do see a lot of homeless People with signs, but the economy has totally a dive all over the Country. Where we live going up Stockton Hill road on one of the plateaus, It is VERY windy, and you are right, It’s very cold and hot here. Can’t say I like the traveling Doctors here, I still don’t have a permanent physician here yet. The medical establishment does suck out here. But, I will never step foot in California again regardless.
Pretty much the same story here. We relocated to Kingman, simply because it was the closest place that "wasn't' California" as well as CO and NM that was still a day's drive to get there to support family and friends if we needed to (and we've needed to - twice. Maybe three times, if one considers "death" an "emergency"). But Kingman and the surrounding communities are a great place to live, in general. Especially compared to the Hell that is California. People are polite and nice here, and the weather isn't nearly as tough as living down in "the valley" as the Phoenix metro region is called locally. I'm looking forward to our short-lived snow... if it even happens. But if it doesn't; no worries - the weather here is very fine. As long as one is OK with the constant wind...
Depending on the year, Florence, AZ is rated #1 or #2 in AZ for the lack of crime. However this is a bit of a joke. The state prison is in Florence, so the prison population counts towards the town's population, hence why there is little crime per capita.
Well you must've been in some shitty California towns because there are a lot of friendly people here in California. Have fun in that white trash shit hole.
I grew up in AZ and still live here. Don't forget about the ghetto love child of Phoenix and Tucson. People in Casa Grande are just bred a little differently there.
Coolidge which is close to Casa Grande is the 2nd highest murder city of AZ and yet I can walk the main avenue at 2 in the morning without any worries. I can't do that in a place like Maryvale. Let that sink in.
Long time resident living in Flagstaff. I love everything about Arizona yet, just like any other city/state there are places to avoid. If anyone is thinking of moving to Arizona (many are), this video is a valuable resource.
I live in S. CENTRAL and since I moved here almost 3 years ago, I've watched this neighborhood go from the walking dead, drugged/ strung out homeless of a younger crowd, to a neighborhood that is NOTHING BUT THUGS walking around with backpacks that have big ass bolt cutters hanging out of them, greasy slimy hands prints ALL over everybody vehicles, stolen parts taken off cars, guys crawling under vehicles looking for parts during daytime, drug paraphernalia, drugs being smoked sitting on the sidewalks, in between vehicles, leaning against apt buildings, thugs stalking people coming out to walk their animal and the thugs break in while someone is walking the dog walking person, people shooting whatever, people shooting at other people, AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. Cops don't do anything even if you're lucky enough to get them to show up. It's just like watching a F**KING VIDEO GAME. It has gotten to be a SERIOUS PROBLEM with NO ONE CARING ABOUT SHIT OVER HERE. It's a gamble just to walk your dog after dark. Last week I saw a dude dressed like a ugly ass women, the child kept calling dad, dad, dad, til he realized it. Went inside quickly after he realized it. Kids are too honest dad! Plus you look like you with fake pointed boobs and a haircut that's so horrible it's hilarious. So when they say you'll hear gun shots now and then, what they meant was several times a night.😡
I'm sorry to hear how bad it has gotten, I live in N.Phoenix and I know how bad it is there, I can't imagine living in S. central phoenix! I hope you can get outta there!
Hey man, get out of there I don’t know who told you to move down there to begin with, but I would sell your house and go buy something in a better area fountain Hills like Mayberry out there for pretty cheap especially a small townhome or condo. If you want, nice and quiet and a small town fuel, you might try that.
@lauraslanesvanlifetravels I am getting out of here. It's so bad that you feel like you have to carry your gun just because of the thugs that's stalk the neighborhood all the time. When I decided to move here, I did everything online since I didn't live here. I looked up the neighborhood, and it said you'd hear gun shots every now and then. I chose to move hear because it was a new build. Wasn't bad at first. NOW... 😳 F**KED UP TERRIBLY.
@@juliegambrall5078 I hear them back behind where I live too. The opening scene of I-51 didn't used to be there when I was a teenager. It was more of an extension of 32nd st. There used to be a walking bridge right there.
Yep, last time I drove through Cali. on the way to Az., some thug tried to rob me at a gas station just off the 99 north of Bakersfield. I was armed so had to get out of there while he robbed the gas station! We all know about Cali. and guns, but it saved my bacon.
The best street in Phoenix is 7th ave from Missouri up to Dunlap. Always clean and smooth. I'm a native Phoenician and I love my city. Its the NIMBY's that marginalize it. Get involved and have pride in your city and state.
You just named 3, Yuma, South Tucson and Globe that I have stayed in or passed through on a 4 day motorcycle trip I am on. Thank goodness you didn’t include Payson, where I am staying tonight. Although a lady in a car came within 10 of hitting me as I crossed the main road at a controlled crossing at the traffic light. She did not want to yield to me walking across.
Payson used to be a great little mountain town of about 5000 but then big land developers came in and made it like a big city (now has about 17,000) The traffic is as bad as Phoenix.
@@SteviePaints Last time I passed thru there was in 2015 on the way to Phoenix and I don't look to take that route any more. The intersection of S.R. 87 and 260 was backed up a half a mile. 30 years before when I drove truck up there en route to Show Low, no such traffic existed.
San Tan and Gilbert used to be considered safe until now that the police department has been exposed that they are in bed with rich criminals like the Renners ( Gilbert Goons ) which ended up in the murder of Preston Lord. It’s such a shame you work hard to provide a safe environment for your children only be terrorized because the school district and enforcement is not willing to prosecute those who harm the community.
Our transition to Arizona was a blessing for sure . I came and visited several times before making a move. Each city has it's hidden gems just don't get caught up in traffic laws, drugs and the wrong people. Come with your passions and skills that add value to the state.
LOL yall are skipping Apache Junction. Really when living in these areas that I have done, if you keep to yourself then they will leave you alone. If you can afford to not live in these areas, I would suggest it. It is my home state and I do miss my mountains. However, I do not miss the heat.
Great video and you are right on the button with the crime scenery in all these locations I’m from Sunnyslope growing up and visiting those streets as an adult knowing what you know is crazy also the light rail well to me the entire transit system’s benefits as great as they could and should be it just can’t be because in its entirety it is plagued with zombies and very dangerous for the regular citizen in fact I wouldn’t use them for any circumstance in its current state and I grew up using the system as a you teen and adult even going to south Phoenix and at the time as far as you could ride like 83 ave Vanburan ok whatever this could just keep going thanks for the video
Forgot to mention, most crime is drug related, not much violence thankfully, and the "weather" does what she wants, when she wants-i have witnessed T-shirt & shorts (weather), rain, snow, and excessive heat warnings all in 1 week- no exaggeration!
I be lived in az for 43years in PHX. I live in the area of 35th ave and Peoria, and your right about down town PHX. It's very dangerous their,,and around the area I live in also is dangerous,
I used to live in a very affluent area of Marin County in the San Francisco Bay area and we had a drug problem there. So I’m not sure if more job and economic opportunities is the answer. Rich people do drugs too. Maybe better education, enforcement, and mental health intervention programs is the answer?
I have worked half time in Yuma for the last seven years and have felt safer there than anywhere in the Phoenix metro area and I frequent the locations shown in the video.
I grew up in the north central corridor of Phoenix (Central and Bethany Home) and never had any problems. I moved to the Bay Area for 30 years however moved back “home” 2 years ago. I’ve noticed the areas of 16th street to 36th street and between Indian School rd. And past Van Buren is a bit sketchy
Yes, but remember Central around Bethany Home includes some of the most expensive and exclusive real estate in the Valley. There's crime everywhere, but that area gets, except for a few 'exclusive' neighborhoods around Thomas between the 7s, the best LEO coverage of any in the Valley. Lots of local politicians, wheeler-dealers and influential folks in that neighborhood, Mayors, ex-Mayors, State Reps, Senators...... ;)
Been here in Chandler 20 years since moving from SoCal. So damn sick and tired of the heat and everything looking dried up. Say what you will about SoCal. The beaches were nice to visit and you have all those amusement parks. I loved universal studios. A lot to do there.
The "Trolley" in San Diego has been called the "crime train" by some locals. Light rail brings that element in almost every city. It's surprising to hear about crime in Show Low, since that seems to be a relatively high income area, along with nearby Pinetop -Lakeside. BTW, Arizona used to be the second-most business-friendly state in the country. What happened to change that?
being business friendly is fine, but that doesn't cancel out all other issues. Being near the border, a freedom fry state, underground economy, and even if it's a Republican legislature, a lack of vision, disrespect for education is rife with those elites that have already made it, and already have all the money. the rest of the great unwashed are on their own.
@@HeronPoint2021----What I meant was in regard to the lack of jobs in many of these areas. It looks like the politicians learned how to feather their own nests at our expense, just like in DC and CA. Over-regulate and over-tax, and the jobs will leave for friendlier places.
South Tucson is the only place I've ever been physically assaulted. It was over 20 years ago and only one data point, but I'll not forget it any time soon.
I never go out at night, but I agree it’s you, I never felt unsafe in the city during the day hours. Much better than than the cesspool of California that has turned into.
Maryvale definitely needs to be on the list. Tempe has a huge homeless problem but far from worthy of the 'top 10' in terms of dangerousness.
I would agree, surprised that it was not on the list.
1000% I avoid that area. Maryvale has been frightening as long as I can remember. Also, anywhere near grand ave.
Haha...I too was going to mention MARYVALE before reading the comments.

Your daughter is a nurse maybe she should consider moving withing Arizona or to a mid-west town with low crime. Nurses are needed everywhere throughout the country.
Why do you people live in downtown to begin with get out of there?
my son in law is a professor at asu and the hospital she works for is very close...grocery stores, etc are right there so cars are not needed...they take the light rail to and from or call an uber if need be...when going out of town, which is rarely, they rent a vehicle...so it makes since to live where they are @@onenikkione

Hoping to leave the state in the next few years for rural Missouri.

I've lived in AZ and traveled all over the state since 2001 and I've always felt safe here.
Oro Valley is nice, if you don't mind stopping every two minutes for stop lights if you're driving.
@leroyb.vaughn6150 agreed. We went to Prescott few times I was like lord why so many traffic light ridiculous!
I lived and worked in Yuma for more than a decade, loved it! Never had any problems.

I’m an AZ native. I’d say you’ve nailed this post. Nicely done!!!
Our son graduated from GCU 2019 and our daughter is at GCU now. We tell her to not go outside the gates at night.
GCU is a rip-off!
Wife taught there for 10 years. She stressed it every class don't leave the gates alone and put some clothes on.
Your videos have been sooo helpful for me!! We are looking into possibly moving to Arizona for my hubby's job.....and it had soo nice having a reliable source to get those nuggets of information from! Thank you soo much!!
Can't believe you added Kingman and Bullhead City to your list but not Golden Valley!
Never ventured into Golden Valley but I hear it is mostly trailers and very depressed.
Hi J you forgot to mention the lovely garden spots: Maryvale and El Mirage but still an excellent video. You do good work Sir - thank you.
@firephoto213 Good
Kingman ain't a touristy type of place for the most part it's a relatively tight nit type community wary of outsiders also a known "sundown town"
It’s actually the other way around, on Kingman you mainly find locals. On the rest of the other places you rarely run into locals. 😂
Oh no. Kingman is bad?? I was born there but haven't been back there since I was very little .
Kingman was considered to be as safe as ahwatukee Gilbert or Chandler
The thought it's gone downhill is 💔

LOL 'Chicken Park'..... ;)
Left out Maryvale, Laveen & The most Southern section of Phoenix.
@glow1815 Good, you moved. I know that area well.
7 miles in Phoenix is not very far.

i live in Arizona 35 years . the place i don't want to go at night is Maryvale South West Phoenix .
I was in Yuma,AZ 1971,on the navy reserve two training,Desert climates, refreshing.
Hi.been to Phx nine times and always took light rail down to Tempe and back again, never felt scared on the train.Christown and area around celebrity theatre are scary places also around Van Buren, love Phx and miss it every day,but Im old now and no more long flights for me.
Barbro from Sweden LOVE TO YOU ALL 💟☮️
Central City, Phoenix has lots of unsafe & unfriendly neighborhoods.
Jeff, do more these "most of" in Arizona. They are so informative.
It's a border town. It has all the issues of a border town. Yuma is known for 2 military bases, and winter agriculture. And also Mr G's mexican food.
Haha! The places you listed are vacation spots compared to the real shady places, like Coolidge, Casa Grande, Eloy, Miami, Globe and Nogales.
Eloy. Memories of going to play athletics with them. We were instructed to not talk to anyone, stay together. When leaving the game, the students and adults would hit the bus with sticks and throw rocks and yell profanities. That was years ago. I wonder if it's changed.
Nogales for sure!
Coolidge and Casa Grande aren't bad. Maryvale is worse.
Agree with Nogales For sure. He did mention globe but not its counterpart Miami

Me too. I've never liked it.
The most important thing to tell visitors to Scottsdale is NOT to drink and drive in Scottsdale. ;)
I've lived in South Tempe and for the most part, it's pretty safe. Most of my problems have been on Mill Ave near the university. Not one day went by where I didn't see a fight break out.
Yep...I almost got mugged there...
I live in AZ and I’m not sure how he came up with these cities. A lot of these are great cities. Like any place else…be aware of your surroundings.
I live in kingman too and it is a very friendly city.
The economy is NOT a "total dive" all over the country.
I was about to say. No love for Coolidge
Maryvale needs to be put on this list. I moved here in 2009 when it was on it's way up. Now it has gone down hill
Maryvale has been going downhill since the 1980s.

I live in Tucson and have done some work in Yuma. I am more worried about the California border than the Mexican border.
I used to live in a very affluent area of Marin County in the San Francisco Bay area and we had a drug problem there. So I’m not sure if more job and economic opportunities is the answer. Rich people do drugs too. Maybe better education, enforcement, and mental health intervention programs is the answer?
Yes, the rich do drugs too, but not in public, especially in the streets. They don't have to.
And close the border.
The Blade, the Greenway Square, Metrocenter area, Christown area, south Glendale and Maryvale are all pretty sketchy.
Lots of local politicians, wheeler-dealers and influential folks in that neighborhood, Mayors, ex-Mayors, State Reps, Senators...... ;)
I don't want to jinx myself but I've been in Yuma during the winters and it seems just fine.
Been here in Chandler 20 years since moving from SoCal. So damn sick and tired of the heat and everything looking dried up. Say what you will about SoCal. The beaches were nice to visit and you have all those amusement parks. I loved universal studios. A lot to do there.
Head to Snowflake or Flag....
Agree, the light rail system is a complete waste of my money (taxes). Oh, and Kingman is in NorthWest Arizona.:)
Very informative.
Why is public transport in the USA always wrecked by basketball Americans/ criminals/ degenerates? Why can’t law enforcement clear them out?
@@HeronPoint2021----What I meant was in regard to the lack of jobs in many of these areas. It looks like the politicians learned how to feather their own nests at our expense, just like in DC and CA. Over-regulate and over-tax, and the jobs will leave for friendlier places.
