Bad luck I’m sure you’ll try again and make the cut. I was racing in the UK last weekend at The Gralloch in Scotland in the 70-74 age group only 11 staters, I missed 3rd by 18 seconds and didn’t qualify, oh well have to try again, good luck to you
wauw, so nice to see that still 11 people are competing in your age cat and that the differences are still so small. My next race will be in the following weekend at Blaavands Huk, Denmark. So who knows I might make the cut there ;)
Thank you for the insights! I think you made a lot of good decision and got on your Bike realy fast after the crash. I would have probably not stopped to fix the wahoo mount and would just put the Wahoo in my bag. First lap was crazy speed.
Thank you🙏. After the race I also thought that would probably be the best decision, but then I also had to put my action cam in my pocket as it was attached to the same mount. Very hard decision
The crash was really unfortunate because the qualifying position came closer and closer. About the climb in the beginning I would risk going a bit harder because you never know you are going to get to the group again. You can lose a few positions and in a singletrack you wouldn't be able to get to the front. The camelback is a good alternative, I would not say if you don't do it you will directly qualify but I do think it rides better/more comfortable without one and you don't have to bring the extra kilos with you if you take new bottles each lap. I enjoyed the race myself and I started around place 200 I guess, even with being in the startbox an hour before the start. My dad gave me bottles each lap and like I said the previous vid I went full gas until the steep paved climb and then started to recover a bit. I think the quali is really possible and good luck with the next races!
@@FlyingGravelMan If you can I think it would be good to try taking a bottle from someone. I think I can say that I have some pretty good experience but it can be difficult to take a bottle and surely if you're a bit tired and going fast. Good luck with the race!
I didn't know I used to be a pro athlete! (btw i suck at swimming). I just recognized Bas' camera, that's why i waved. My name is Arthur, not sebastian;)
Sterk gereden hoor!
I wouldnt have taken the time to fix the wahoo mount. Finishing way higher >>> seeing your numbers during the race. There's literally no point in seeing your numbers if it makes you finish later.
Dankje🙌.
@@BellaVita-Lo_Sgagna Grazie per il tuo consiglio. Ho vissuto la stessa cosa con la Gravel 150. Nel 2022 era molto più lenta rispetto al 2023, quando l'ho corsa per la prima volta. Proverò a calcolare la differenza per le prossime gare (;

Succes!
Thanks Sam! Ik ben benieuwd
26:45 that‘s Sebastian Kienle, former IronMan pro athlet
Ironman world champion 2014 in fact
He had quite a bad crash, though. He hit a car that was crossing the course for some reason. Broke a few bones in his hand apparently.

Goed gereden! Maar met flink wat pech ook. Rij je Drenthe 150?

Yes, you also see many camel bags so I believe not all rules are super strictly enforced on the amateur level (;
