15th December 2024 am. - Isaiah 11 v.1 to 10 - 'A Shoot from the stump of Jesse...'

Isaiah was given several wonderful prophecies about Jesus, in which He was allowed insight into the nature, person and ministry of Jesus - and this week, we are looking at Isaiah 11. When Isaiah was writing, the kings of Judah were about to lose their throne, God's people were facing judgment because of their unfaithfulness, they were going into exile. What of the promise God gave to David of a permanent kingdom for his descendants? Here we see that the fulfilment of that promise is greater than we (or David) could image, the kingship would rest in one person, in Jesus and His kingdom is greater than anyone could conceive, this is the coming of the Kingdom of God. The supporting readings are John 1 v.1 to 18 and Romans 8 v.19 to 21.
