The Tarantella Dance of Apulia

While some Tarantellas are performed as a courtship dance, the ancient traditions of Apulia in Italy depict a dancer possessed. This "magico-religious" tarantella is said to be an ancient exorcism or a curative performance to treat the delirious victim of a spider bite.
