    I've bought one today. I seem to be addicted to buying Pi. I have two B's and an A. I want the new B+ to use in the shed, to play music videos and perhaps do some other stuff (I have my eye on those GPIO pins). I really hope that the foundation bring out a model C with a CPU upgrade, but I realise that isn't foremost in their plans. I do think the restriction in speed has helped to spur developers on to really optimise their software - which can only be a good thing.

    Yes! This will be 10 times better for projects. It is smaller, but has MORE STUFF! Unfortunately I am not made of money so I will not get one of these until I am ready for a project.

    Thanks for the great run through of the new board enhancements :-)

    its a bit stupid not improving the proccesor and ram because now there is no point of me upgrading from the B

      For some reason I can understand the processor staying the same I am just surprised they didn't go for a lil more ram like a 1024mb :(

      I agree. I'm getting an extra one with the old sd card slot.

      Maybe something to do with the price? But would be nice to have those upgrades, hopefully in the future!

    You forget to mention that the Network LEDs are now inside the ethernet-connector housing (like most PC's). The board only has a power and act-led now. And they switched sides. They're now in front of the GPIO connector. Cheers

    I am actually very glad that they went this route instead of going straight for a Rev C. While I doubt they'd break compatibility with the Rev B when they do eventually move on to Rev C, I don't think we need a huge upgrade in power. My biggest problems have been the lack of IO, not the lack of power. Problems solved. :)

    I would pay more if they improve the processor to a more actual one, like 4 Core with 1 or 2 Gig of RAM. Even cheap smart phones from china for 80€ use MT6582 1.3GHz Quad core with 1 Gig of RAM and they have GSM WIFI bluetooth a display all build in.

    I think I'm about to jump on the pi band wagon. Looks cool. I'm doing volunteering lighting design for a local amateur stage group and we're working on setting up a wireless network for the moving lights. Need an off net wireless router or hub to broadcast through and I think an rpi will be just the trick. Would be cool to sit in the audience and control the lights with my mobile phone just like watch dog. But that's what we're going for

    What about the additional pins for audio which were behind the GPIOs on the old board? I can not see them anymore. Is there still a 'reset' pin?

    Oh jeez I need this thing now.
    I have an old 2GB micro sd card from a couple years back which I wasn't using so this works perfectly.
    and extra gpio? awesome

      Solinium Pulse /help/faqs/#sdSize on the rpi website.
      That's if you use noobs or any of the other begginer distros.
      A general purpose gentoo system on reiserfs requires less than half of the 2gb sd card I already use with my other pi (that's with opencv, some user code, etc). I could probably get away with 1gb since I don't even use that much, but I don't have any 1gb cards anymore.

      I am running a modified, overclocked version of OpenElec (for XBMC) that works really well when running the data off of a USB stick. The SD card is only 2GB, and I understand it can be even smaller. For more info look up the tutorials by TotalXBMC here on RUclips.

    Two Pi + update & upgrade done on the micro SD card with model B 512. These two came from RS components .
    The USB's do not work there is something more to be said about getting them to work not just sudo ups. So come on tell the world before Raspberry loses all Street cred! On both sides of the Atlantic

    Hello The Raspberry guy can you do a setup on the B+ model because I got and have no clue

  • @tOSdude
    @tOSdude 10 лет назад

    Of course as I get the b the b+ comes and makes it comparably worse. The b is ok for my current needs as I currently don't use gpio, have a very slim powered usb hub, and like the direct composite jack as I currently use it with an older CRT.

    It needs to be more powerful! And I think an x86 version could be fun to play with, (maybe I could install Win98 on it XD )

    And now I have an excuse to get another Raspberry Pi. Now, should I use the box (Why the hell did they ship the last one in a box?) that my last one was packaged in as material for a case, or should I just chuck it right into the back of my CRT?

    Same processor and ram? Sorry two USB's and a relayout won't cut it. I won't be upgrading to the B+ and I am considering moving to a system with greater resources. A dual core ARM is an absolute must. I'll wait for the Raspberry Pi C++

    Fix it?

    • @ArmandoRod1992
      @ArmandoRod1992 10 лет назад +1

      i think they fixed it (or at least thats what they said in a review of it) since the Pi b+ uses a new circuit for voltage it has less noise in the analog audio

    A lot of unhappy comments from new B owners I see!

    • @gregghernandez2714
      @gregghernandez2714 10 лет назад

      I agree, there are some unhappy customers who purchased the original model B. I bought 2 myself, and yes I had to purchase powered USB hubs for each one. The way I look at it, is that if people like us (the angry customers included) didn't invest in the original unit,there wouldn't be the amazing support and great tutorials for this really cool unit. Also just think if the Pi would have flopped, well then the developers would not have been able to invest in what is obviously a better product. Just my opinion of course.
