In the story the husband is a pro baseball player and it starts off with major crimes looking for the daughter who was supposedly kidnapped. However, the wife and the body guard (the husband's childhood friend) faked the kidnapping of the daughter because the wife found the daughter dead (the daughter died from ingesting the wife's cocaine) so to cover it up the wife and the body guard faked the daughter's kidnapping. They had another of the husband's childhood friend hold onto the body which major crimes found in the friend's appartment. The husband was away during the time getting surgery on his arm. This scene is basically the husband piecing everything together and realizing it was his wifes cocaine that killed the daughter and looks like he killed the wife.
