It's actually faster to edit the products by dragging than cut and paste. There is two ways to do this. Firstly click on the box you want to edit, if all the other products information is the same you drag it down till the last box is highlighted and release. Second, my favourite, highlight all boxes first and just type, and it will fill in all the boxes at once. Perfect for colours, weight, costs, prices etc. This works on the entire sheet, not just the product you are working on, enhance the little box icon on the bottom right of the highlighted box.
Great instructional video! Should the product name be within the product description or does that matter at all? My description for my work is all the same but I thought the product's specific name within the description would heighten the possibility of it being found when someone is searching. Looking forward to your feedback.
If it was my store I'd also have the product title in the description but it depends on lots of different factors. If you email me your website I can give you some tips around this. Cheers
When choosing products to bulk edit I only get a limited number of columns to be able to edit. Nowhere near all the options you get. Do you have any idea how to troubleshoot that?
You can on excel file. How many do you need to add? If only a few I'd just do it manually. A lot of people mess up doing it on excel so it depends on how many you need to do?
@@ClaytonBatesShopifyExpert I currently have 20 variants per product listing and would like to add 60 more to every listing uniformly, This is mainly colour as the 20 variants i currently have within my listings are of sizes but for one colour. I know this will be difficult for the excel but would you know of any bulk editing app that could handle adding variants to this scale, no issues with apps that need paid plans. Thank you Clayton
It depends. If they don't have lots of variants then it should be OK for 600. You could also filter out some of the products and do different types in lots. Example: Do say "Dresses" today then tomorrow do "Blouses" that would make it a little easier. You can do excel but I normally don't recommend it. Lots of risk to making mistakes.
how do you search in that bulk editor used to be ctrl F but that doesn't work. right now i have to scroll through thousands of listings to find the one to edit
Ctrl F only works if you scroll to the bottom from memory, you could filter by tags, product type etc before you click into the bulk editor. Example if you have 10k products and you search a tag with 1k products then select those product and open the bulk editor that would be it easier? Hope that makes sense
@@ClaytonBatesShopifyExpert I was looking for something more like collections and then choosing by size so I can change prices for that size only, I found an app that does this but wants money every month to do more than 10 listings. I have shirts that cost more for 3x and up from the standard sizes, so I can't just have the same price for all variants.
@@ClaytonBatesShopifyExpert Offering a discount code is a strategy to attract customer attention to your product, not to incur a loss. Consider this scenario: a customer agrees to purchase your product for $60. If a discount is applied at checkout, reducing the price to $40, you lose $20 on a sale the customer was willing to complete at the original price. This is not a logical approach, as it undermines your profitability. SHOPIFY AUTOMATIC DISCOUT IS NOT LOGICAL
I understand that but this video is about bulk editing products? Unless somewhere in the video I said something about discounts. Also don't have to use the automatic discount. Hardly any of our clients do. Normally only do that when there is sitewide sales. Example Black Friday.
You are not really "bulk editing." Copying and pasting individually, as you are showing, is editing one by one. The bulk editor does not even allow you to sort on any fields. It is literally useless. Shopify Help staff know it too, as they ALWAYS tell me to just buy an app to properly bulk edit. Example edits not possible: Sort on price, select all products that are $50 or less, add the tag ""$50 and under" to the tag column. This type of edit is a basic bulk edit task that is not possible in the bulk editor. Another example is sorting on weight, selecting all products set to 8 lbs, and correcting them to 8oz. Again, this is not possible in bulk editor, which is a very basic type of bulk edit task. If you cannot sort, you cannot effectively bulk edit.
Worse than that, if you have a shit ton of variants, you have to literally scroll through all of them and there's no way to just show the root product without the variants. Unless I'm missing something. It's obnoxious.
@@ClaytonBatesShopifyExpert Hi, great videos. Could you please provide any info as to any bulk editing app that can ADD variants to shopify listtings. I have currently 20 variants for each product but would like to integrate more suppliers which would give me approx 80 variants per product listing. I just want a way to add all these variants uniformly to all my product listings which currently the shopify bulk editor is unable to do. Any guidance would be very appreciated Clayton

Awesome. Can also do it like this if the fields are the same.
WOW!! This WORKS !!!! Thanks SO much, this method is what I was looking for!
I would like to hear more about Meta Fields, please.
What types do you need? Size chart etc? Might be good to get idea of what I should include. Cheers
yeah me too please :) This is very interesting topics.

Shoot me an email and store link and I'll have a look.
Most likely you have to select/tick the boxes you want in "Columns"?
Did you ever do the Excel upload video?
It never made sense to make it for RUclips but if you join my free skool community I'll make a video there for you

How do we update variants in bulk
Probably going to have to do that through excel file. How many products do you have?
I would love a video on metafields!
What type do you need?
can you please tell from where we can edit Collection in Bulk edit?
Just click collections and do the same thing. It's limited on what you can change in collections at the moment.
I don't have that description option on the bulk edit, any ideas why
Also which inventory software do you recommend for a small business to track inventory on different platforms.
Are you using old version of Shopify or theme?
Shopify POS system is good. I can put you in contact with the team if you send me email

Have you tried "Search And Discovery" by Shopify app? That might be inline with what you need. Unless I'm reading it wrong
Can you show us how to do this with an excel file
I probably can't make that video for a couple of weeks but if you shoot me an email I'll make personalized video for you
Etsy's product discount code setting is more efficient than Shopify's, making Etsy's website more impressive.
I'm little confused by this comment?
