Thanks for joining me for this fossil prep, it didn't turn out exactly as I would have hoped but it was a fun prep and I'm really happy with the result. The micro air abrasion is so good for cleaning up these crabs with the sticky sediment.

Might be worth scanning this one just incase theres more than just the two crabs in there. Its a ridiculously long shot but crabs are detritivores so what if the two of them were hanging onto something eating it when they got caught by the turbidity or whatever event caused them to become buried and whatever food item they were on was preserved alongside them. I know from when im sea fishing that crabs are determined little things and even getting dragged through breakers often isn't enough for them to let go of a tasty treat. Heres hoping anyway
Oooh that would be awesome! I'll send it through the scanner next time I get invited along.
As a new subscriber I just wanted to say thank you for your amazing content, you've started to bring back my fascination with the prehistoric world and have inspired me to try to learn as much as I can about the fossils in my part of the world, again thank you so much!
Ah thats awesome!!! There so much more to delve in to when you get into the science and history
Love fossil prep!
Thanks so much Wesley!
two of those crabs in one concretion is a realy nice specimen!
It sure is! I've seen a couple like that, they must have liked living on top of each other!
@@MamlamboFossils Maybe they got buried in sediment while eating the same whalefall!
A crab with spikes! Who knew. Thanks and I know Thursday will be a great success.
Thanks so much Nita! It's a nice wee crab 🦀
Its awesome that there might be another one in that concretion. That is a rarer type of crab, especially for you. That air abrasion toolyou used did meave a nice finish on it for you! Thanks Morne and best of luck to you on yous upcoming speech! You will do just fine though!❤
Thanks so much Lisa! It's such a cool surprise having multiple crabs in there!
Another fascinating (to me) find! Also, your voice is very calming. I could listen to you read a phone book and it would calm me down.
Ahh thanks, I appreciate that
That's an awesome little Crab and to think you may have two in there thanks for sharing this great video with us six stars brother
My pleasure Joseph!!
You can't imagine how much I would love to be there, a bit hard though, if you live on the other side of the globe. Lovely crab as well! It looked awesome, you did a great job preparing that specimen!😊👍
Also, I will try watching the stream live, can't promise it though, because of school and the timezone.
You should be able to watch it afterwards 😀
So well preserved, what a, wonder present!.
It's very well preserved! The crabs from that area are usually great, the bone not so much
Always cool when there are multiple bones/ animals in a block. That will propebly be a nice cluster!
I hope so!! It was quite a fun little prep!
Not a big one, but a rare one and it might have some friends hanging out with it. Thanks for sharing and good luck on the lecture!🦀
Thanks so much!!
I wish I lived in a a part of the world with those fossil rocks! All we have on our beaches are pebbles of granite, quartzite, jasper, and agates.
Your videos make me happy.
Yay!!! Thats really awesome 😄
At least it wasn't a complete bust with that large concretion. Will have to watch the live stream tomorrow morning at 7am-ish! so strange to think it is the evening for you halfway across the world. How are your studies going? Take care
Well darn, I was hoping for a show stopper. Next time. Thank you, Canada
Thank you for sharing your wonderful finds with us.
if there are two crabs with that nice finish that would be a beautiful prep even if there's one it would be nice if you prep it some more
What time does the bus leave to hear your speech? Boy! that would be nice. Thank you for showing us what looked like my crabby aunt. or ant like crab.
I went with weird crab because of the use of an adjective... what a dull reason. Nice result!
Respect for your work 🫡
Whaah no way, it's amazing. Never seen this kind of crab ! I hope you will continue to reveal what is in this rock.
Euhhhh no, I won't be able to be there. Do not hesitate to inform us when you will be in France ;o)
0:07 ok, i know the joke about Down Under is that they're upside down... but i didn't expect them to be flipped too. :))
Jokes aside, thanks for the link on the livestream!!
🤣
Weird crabs are a bonus
They are!!
Sorry, I am on the other side of the planet curating fossils at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
haven't even watched the video Morne but I'm jealous that I'm not in Wellington for your talk tomorrow night.
Very cool Mate.
Thanks! 👍
I think its a Nokia 3210, still on 45% charge.
Bro, you handled that fossil very well, you revealed it carefully and not barbarly
Ah thanks so much! I appreciate that
thanks again. If you want a bunch of boring coral fossils where i am has tons, lol.
I'll be at work but I will catch the restream🎉
Its allways so intresting to look what u will find in the rocks 👍❤️👋🇫🇮
You never know what you will find!

Are you going to continue to prep this fossil, or is it done?
I'll work on it more in the future
