I remember when they wrote this thinking this was the heaviest thing ever, 🤣 Super cool cover! Keep it up sister! Thanks for the post, even though it made me feel really old!😆😂🤣
still dont understand why dime didnt count this as a pantera album. its got some of his sickest riffs and its where the band really started to develop their own unique sound
This is the least unique album ever recorded in the history of albums. It is absolutely a generic early 80s metal album. Pantera was never an original band. Their thing was taking something that came before and doing it just a hair better then the original.
I love that like me you love 80's PanterA! I know it's been said they will never see the light of day... But a proper release of AT LEAST Power Metal IS MANDATORY! I'll ALSO be the 1st in line for the Terry albums too!
Hell yeah. Great job! So glad to see these songs getting some love finally. I grew up in Dallas where PanterA originate. I was born in 86, so missed their glory days, but my neighbor when I was 12 played lead guitar in another local band here in DFW back in the 1980's and he actually played sevearal dozen shows at the same club, on the same night, on the same bill (lol) with PanterA in the 80's when they were just another local band. My neighbor got to know Darrell very well because of this, and I got to meet and know him because of my neighbor. I am very lucky. My neighbor actually heard me playing my first electric guitar at age 12 in my parents garage one day and told me to come check his garage out. It was filled with gear and posters that blew my young mind. He saw I had a MetallicA shirt on and asked if I knew PanterA. I was like "uh..I know the name and a few songs." That's when he busted out the photo album showing himself on stage with big, teased 80's hair wearing spandex and spike collar bracelets. He had pics of himself on stage at a club in the 80's here called Savvy's and another called Joe's Garage. He even had some photos of himself hanging with some young, skinny guitarist who had a giant poodle afro of curly hair and a pointy guitar with a V headstock with wing inlays on it. That's when he explained I was looking at a picture of 20 year old Dimebag Darrell taken by his then girlfriend at Joes Garage one night they both played a show there. I couldnt believe that was Dimebag. THE Dimebag I had seen in the guitar magazines. Even cooler he lived just down the road from us. Who knew my nerdy, clean cut neighbor in the year 1999 who taught college courses at UNT while working on his masters degree was so cool? Who would have guessed he was a long haired guitar god himself in the 1980's and was friends with Dimebag!? My neighbor then told me it was his duty to make sure I had a proper introduction into the world of metal lead guitar. He came back out to the garage with my "homework" which, essentially, a CD album 'Skyscraper' by David Lee Roth (for all the killer Steve Vai guitar work on that album), 'Passion & Warfare' by Steve Vai also on CD, some George Lynch solo album stuff, Joe Satriani stuff....and the motherboard. He handed me all 4 of PanterA's independent releases on cassette. The original copies with album jacket sleeve too. Just mine. To keep. To have and listen to and learn from, and learn I did. I made a mix cassette tape of all Vai's solos from Skyscraper + all of Dimes solos from all 4 of their independent albums. I would listen to that tape every night as I fell asleep. I was mesmerized. In love with that style of melodic, flashy, lightning fast legato that burned up and down the fretboard white hot. Once I finished that stuff off I had to have my friends "cool mom" purchase me 'Cowboys From Hell' on CD because I was only 12 about to be 13. Needless to say, that album took all I had heard up until that point and just jacked it up to 11. I was in disbelief at how cool all the guitars and drums were together. I practiced guitar day and night trying to gain that level of prowess. So back in 2000 when I was 13, I was starting out on guitar learning the solo to "Forever Tonight" from PanterA's 'I Am The Night' album while everyone else my age was listening to Korn and Limp Bizkit lmao. Those first 3 albums with Terry Glaze on vocals are so magical. Dimes solos were so cool. I really love 'Power Metal' with Phil on vocals too. Those albums are among my most prized possessions and Darrells leads and cool riffs from those 4 albums had a major impact on my soloing and riff writing. Darrells massive influence over me dwindles out around 'Vulgar Display of Power'. Don't get me wrong; there are tracks I loved on 'Far Beyond Driven' and 'The Great Southern Trendkill'. Hell, I even like a song (more like riff haha jk) or two from 'Reinventing The Steel'. But Darrells solos and riffs on 'Projects in The Jungle, 'I Am The Night', 'Power Metal', 'Cowboys From Hell', and most of 'Vulgar Display of Power' are his most influential on me. I mixed that era of Dime with Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom and Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme and that mixture is basically my lead guitar style.
Pantera needs to add this album to the "accepted" list of albums. I get not wanting to add anything before it... but Power Metal is amazing! Great playing btw!
Damn! Between the lead and all the crazy stops and timing, that's some amazing playing! Well done. Also, love the Eeyore stickers on the guitar. Eeyore is my wife's spirit animal.
sO gOOD mISS kAYLA!!! I love how you play. sooooo cool and precise. And please, please, please keep posting and keeping Dime relevant to All generations of guitarists. He is very special and you as well. Thank You Miss Kayla!🤘🤘🤘
There's nothing left to say at this point. It's perfect. It's like you're literally channeling Dimebag. You're playing these covers like you wrote them now, it's insane.
i cant help but keep coming back to this, its one of the best covers i've come across on youtube.. i fkn love it, and that kramer suits; youre so at home with it, everything about this is beast mode! 🤘
What makes this so great is not just your playing, which is amazing, but realizing how incredible Dime was. His solos were so outside the box. Just freeform insanity but totally fitting the song. It’s just so much fun. :-)
Awesome and smokin' cover chick! Please do more of these full song covers. You are fantastic and a true rocker, metalhead's dream! Love to watch you play and shred like a metal maniac! \,,/
I love old pantera so much !! It is a real pleasure to watch you play those old songs!! I really enjoy it! Can't wait to see which old pantera song you will put out next !! 😃☺🥰 Cheers from Québec canada!!
Awesome, digging into the back catalogue! There's so many great tunes from Pantera's "glam" days, and this is one of my faves! Great job, as always! Keep 'em coming. And remember, Dime loved Randy Rhoads too (yes, this is a nudge, lol).
You just keep getting better and better, not only with your playing but your video production. Loved the second camera capturing a close up of your hands, showing your technique. Very instructive for other guitarist both young and old. You're a force of nature, young lady. Keep up the good work. And may you be richly blessed.
you're unbelievable the ease wich you go through these songs with is amazing this is material that makes big macho guitar dudes look like they're pulling furniture out of their butt when they play it and here comes, cute Kayla ripping this with a big smile on her face as if its all fun and games truly, you're the best !
Power Metal is so underrated.
Their best album.
@@captivus13 strength beyond strength is not an album lol

Kayla I love your Pantera cover riffs. Dime would be impressed. Keep up the great work.
Just stopped by to bare witness to this metal magic!
I remember when they wrote this thinking this was the heaviest thing ever, 🤣 Super cool cover! Keep it up sister! Thanks for the post, even though it made me feel really old!😆😂🤣
Fuck Yeah
Awesome old school Pantera badass playing
One of the best songs from one of the most unheard and underrated albums in metal!
So many memories when i hear this! Loved it in the 80s as a teenager at lake Texoma playing this cassette over and over!!
still dont understand why dime didnt count this as a pantera album. its got some of his sickest riffs and its where the band really started to develop their own unique sound
It didn't fit in with Phil's fake tough guy persona he adopted after cowboys. Shame as Power Metal is their best album.

Down below, what a hell song
@@JD-vj4goYou are insane. 😆 This is probably the best album OF the 80s. It has everything you could want.
@@moongloomableYou're projecting. The whole band wanted to move in a heavier more extreme artistic direction.
Great job. Glad I stumbled upon your vids, and a King's X fan too boot! 🙂
“NO WAY OUT! WHEN THE CAT GOES AWAY, OVER AND OUT!!! THE MICE COME OUT AND PLAY!!!!”
Wow going super old school. Deep deep back woods style. My hats off to you. Takes a true fan to know about this stuff. 🤘🏼.
And master the riffs!
@@benjamindavis2888 I realized I never said, “good job” for the playing. I mean she obviously knows her stuff but yes, excellent playing.
@@rockerbob949 Fuckin badass!

Power Metal is my favorite Pantera record. It sounds the most authentic to my ears. Not glammy, not manufactured aggression, just pure 80s metal.
Wow,I could listen to you play all day,you rock 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Listen and watch. The way she plays is so fluid and smooth.
Pre-cowboys Pantera for the win!!!
As ever nailing that dime sound and feel, fantastic effort!
i swear these vids never fail to make me DESPERATE to pick up my guitar, thanks for uploading and inspiring!
