Awesome unit! Might suggest you bring a clear plastic tub next time. You can dump a bag in it, search without getting it all over the floor, and dump it back in a bag or box when you’re ready to search another bag😊

I think this person was or is a shopaholic and rented the storage unit to hide all of their purchases . You two are so good or lucky at this job . I think it's a bit of both but I love watching ! This would be my dream unit !😍😄

I can’t watch this or listen to people buying peoples lives. Seems to me that there was a child involved with a little box that had money and cheap jewelry. If I was them, I would try and find the family and give it back at least some of it. However, these people make money off of other people’s misery. Never liked this type of business if you can call that that’s just my opinion.

This looks just like one of the three storage units my aunt had packed to the ceiling and she had three storage buildings at my uncles house that was full to the top and couldn’t fit anything else in them and she had a shopping addiction and that’s what she was doing the day. My uncle died because she wasn’t there to help him and she knew he was sick but shopping was more important to her than he was.😢😭💔

Came here for this comment. I love Jebus but the way he paws through everything and then just piles it on the floor absolutely drives me crazy! He could organize like items into totes, toss the trash, and put aside money and bills as he goes. Then, he wouldn’t have to clean up a giant mess when he’s done looking at everything.

The person could also be a manic depressive which sometimes causes these kinds of shopping sprees. I had a relative many years ago that did this, luckily they were finally diagnosed and able to stop once the doctors got them on the right medication.

My heart breaks for the person who lost control of her life (I assume based on the contents) to the point she lost everything.
I believe that the previous owners of this unit new they were filing bankruptcy so they ran all their credit card up and placed the items in storage thinking they would get it out of storage after the bankruptcy was discharged. But evidentially they were unable to pay the storage fees. They hid these items from bankruptcy court.
I was wondering why someone would let this stuff go without getting it back out before they owed the following month’s rent! Like what??

This kind of stuff does not matter in a bankruptcy. They could have kept this stuff in their house just as easily, without it being confiscated, because it's not real assets. I think they had a real shopping addiction.

All those pouches with the makeup, I'd say is new. Probably something like Ipsy, which is a subscription order product. I'd leave them in the pouches and sell as is. All will be name brand as well. 😊

What a fun unit! My suggestion….take a long clear tub approx 10” tall with you. That way you can dump the whole bag into it and sort quickly without missing anything.

My dad did the same thing. After he passed my brother and I had to go thru every book, drawer, mattress. It wasn't a huge amount but he didn't trust banks.

What would happen of the person who owned the unit or a family member is watching and decides it was sold by mistake?
The rental contract they signed for the unit states that if the rent goes into default, they lose all claim to anything they had inside, so unfortunately there would be nothing they can do once the auction sale is final. "Final" being right up to the minute the winner pays the auction balance in full. We've had instances where we drove an hour to get to a facility, pulled up and they told us the person just paid current so the auction was cancelled. But if we had gotten there and paid before they called, they would have been out of luck. It is sad because you never really know the person's circumstances, but before there were auctions, facilities would just throw everything away so at least this way it's not all going straight to the trash.
We've also had people who have demanded we give the stuff to back them, not even willing to reimburse what we paid for the auction. But - where I live at least, you have to give the personal stuff back unless they gave up the unit voluntarily, so they get back paperwork and photos - one unit we gave back 285 journals (no lie on that count, we ended up with 4 big boxes full of used journals).

Those little makeup bags all have brand new makeup in them. Usually a higher end make up. It’s a monthly subscription called Ipsy. Good stuff. I had it for like 5 years. Also the color street nails can be spendy as well. All that will sell like hot cakes!!! Great unit guys!!! ❤

The Vera Bradley bag that had pumpkins and Halloween stuff on it. I believe you said you were gonna put it out at the yard sale. I do believe that was a Vera Bradley, and any paperwork you get with HSN or QVC jewelry you should pass on to whoever buys it because some of it or a lot of it has got a lifetime warranty on it as long as you have the paperwork.

I used to shop and spend my whole check ( which wasn’t much) . My doctor thought I might be bipolar, put me on a med for it, and I immediately stopped. I no longer take the medication and don’t have the urge anymore. Who knew?

Shopping Addiction! My sisters have it. I have it a little. I combat it buy filling up my shopping cart then just picking item to buy from my cart. Store people hate me. But now I do it on amazon. I fill my amazon cart up let it sit then I dump it so it only contains the stuff I really need. ❤ Much Love to everyone that struggles with this.

The Silent Generation (born roughly 1928-1945) and many members of the Baby Boomer generation (born 1946-1964) sometimes kept cash hidden in their homes. This practice was more common among people who lived through the Great Depression or grew up hearing about financial instability. They would spread money out in different hiding places so it would not all be found at once, and sometimes they even forgot where it was stored. When an emergency came up, they would search for the cash they had set aside. Keeping money in multiple locations also made it harder for a burglar to find all of it if someone broke into the home.
They also tended to buy items when they were cheaper or on sale and save them for later. When gift giving holidays came around, they already had presents and didn’t have to rush out shopping with everyone else.
I still do this with my children. I’m Gen X, and I learned it from my mother. She would have Christmas gifts for everyone by October. I know because I got my butt beat for playing with the toys and putting them back in the box before she came home. Never happened again.

I wouldn't bet on that about the Paparazzi. You wouldn't believe the ungodly amount of this stuff that I have, and have never even worn it. It was addictive for sure. My daughter in law got me hooked. She bought a ton of it as well. Now she sells a totally different brand herself that is more expensive.

The only cash unit I bought was a $30 small unit, the previous owner seems to have been a nurse of some sort, and there was cash in the pocket of nearly all of the clothes. Mostly $1 and 5 dollar bills, it wasn't a huge amount, but we almost threw most of it away, we were almost done with the clothes when I noticed a bunch of change in the pocket of a pair of scrub pants, I checked it and there was change, but about five one dollar bills. We had to go back through all of them. It was about $300 in cash,, and another forty or fifty in change.
Yes…and bring a big trash can so you can throw out all the trash while you’re looking through everything instead of making a giant mess and having to stop and clean up before you get to the next thing.
I love finding enough cash in a unit that pays for the unit, then everything else is a bonus.
