    A huge thanks to all the creators who contributed with footage for this video! If you're a Redout 2 fan, do you come to think of another reason why people should try this game that I didn't include in the list?

    The steering is very intuitive, it does take some getting use to but its not bad. I like how the whole ship reacts and animates the wings and flaps for all inputs.
    The boost system is fun because there is a bit of "gambling" involved about how fast you want to push your craft.
    Music and theme is great. I like the lore you get in the loading screen about the tracks and how society is in the far future.
    The tracks are very challenging unfortunately. They are longer than what I am used to and require alot of memorization. If you really want to get good at the game and know when to boost at high speed, you need to memorize the track to get gold and the requirements.

    • @AGRacingCentral
      @AGRacingCentral  Год назад

      That is a very good summary about the games weak and strong points! I agree that the foundation is very solid, the two different boosts and learning when to use them is enough resource management but track memorization is probably slightly more important in Redout 2 than in other similar games.

      No worries at all, thanks to you as well for taking your time to watch the video and leaving a comment. I also really think the game is something special and unique. Redout 2 improved upon so many things and even though I have tons left to do in the game, I definitely hope we'll see the franchise continue in the future.

    Great vid! Another point regarding customization that might be redundant but I think is worth emphasizing; the cosmetic parts and functional upgrades are totally separate. You're free to make your ship look however you like without worrying about limiting your performance.

I mentioned both types of customization in the video but I should have put even more emphasis on that performance and visual are completely separate from each other. Thank you for checking out the video! You have some great Redout 2-content as well, I would love to feature some of your races in a future video if you don't mind.

    This is my favorite game. I found it in the PS Plus games list earlier and I love it. This beats all the games for me.. Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Doom.. Redout 2 wins for me. I'm almost 42 years old and it's like a modern version of F-Zero which I loved on SNES. This will never get deleted from my hard drive. I bought all the packs for it already.

    I love Redout 1... but the thing that makes me hesitate on Redout 2 is the music. I'm just largely not impressed by it. I disliked all but a precious few themes when watching Redout 2 videos. Which is an opposite to Redout 1 where I like all but one theme in that game and some others tend to get butchered by the dynamic music system... but are otherwise perfectly fine when the stars align with the system or when listened to outside of the game.

    • @AGRacingCentral
      @AGRacingCentral  Год назад

      It's of course very subjective but I personally really like the music in Redout 2. But who am I to speak, I loved the music from WipeOut Omega Collection that everyone hated on :) I've seen comments on Reddit expressing the same opinion as you so I see where you are coming from. I just think it's fun to see that music is a much larger part of the overall impression when it comes to anti gravity racing when compared to other genres. Thanks a lot for taking your time to comment on the subject!

      @@AGRacingCentral Doesn't help that Redout 2's OST (and licensed music) tends to get drowned out by their own percussion and the sounds of the game itself.
      Exceptions being: Tartarus Mines, Terror Rupes, Genesis, and Mars. Most of the other locations it's incredibly hard to make anything out.

    • @DARamosYT

      Agreed, Redout 1 ost felt fresh. Redout 2 can get repetitive, but I do find it par for the course of the racing genre. The dynamic mixing helps somewhat.

      The Redout 1 Soundtrack is just pure perfection 💫 - One of the best ever created. Every track is unique and the transitions within them just get better and better the more you listen to it. It also has meticulously composed hooks, even sometimes with poly rhythms to it 😍! I’m a musician myself, sorry 😬 - it enhances the racing experience to an unprecedented level. And sometimes when all the stars align and you make a near perfect run, then there is almost no other racing game that gives you that amount of accomplishment, satisfaction and pure bliss 🧘‍♀️.

    Redout 2 improved a lot over the original but I still find it hard to find reference points for some corners and jumps and progressing the campaign feels like a slog until you get the ship of your preference. I played a lot of arcade mode in the beginning to just avoid the campaign because of that. It's not a bad game at all but those were the things I struggled with the first week.

    • @AGRacingCentral
      @AGRacingCentral  Год назад +1

      This video was to a large extent about praising the game but I think you make some solid points. There are a lot of hours to put in before you unlock all ships in the campaign and that might be a deterring factor for sure. It's sort of understandable since new ships might be a very desirable unlock so it makes a bit of sense to spread them out but I totally get what you mean. Thanks a lot for your input and thanks a lot for taking your time to watch the video!

      @@AGRacingCentral Also, the previous game had it where you choose which racecraft you start with. ESA was still an option for first timers that want to use a generalist to learn the game but if there was something more specialized you wanted to use then you could grab it right then and there at the beginning of the Career Mode. I'd say that Conqueror, K-werth, and Lunare are also decent first picks. Conqueror and K-werth are both tanky but have boosts that vary in strength but both have fast energy regen. Meanwhile, Lunare is just a fast and very grippy series of racecraft.

    • @GTCvDeimos
      @GTCvDeimos Год назад

      I definitely agree, RedOut 2 shoots itself in the foot in a number of areas. Progress is painfully slow, the default difficulty is set extremely high, and the part where arcade mode just goes for broke and drops you into 1000+ AGs (rather than taking a page from wipeout, mario kart, and a gazillion other arcade racers that separates into different speed classes) is pretty nuts.
      I adore RedOut 2, and none of these issues are terribad, but when taken together, it leads to a faulty first impression. That is that it presents itself from the jump as a prohibitively difficult game. And it IS difficult, but as the author points out, it is a very customizable experience.
      I think the thing that is important for devs of this genre to remember is that the end goal here is to achieve an experience that's like a gamified roller coaster. And RedOut 2 absolutely achieves this, it just doesn't do a good job of putting it's best foot forward, and its reputation has suffered a lot because of this.

    I want to try this game on xbox fat and struggling with deciding between the "old" Redout 1 (old but safe) and the risky and potential buggy Redout 2

      I play on Playstation primarily and I am not aware of any major bugs on the Xbox platforms. Regarding whether to get Redout 1 or 2, just asking the question is like opening up a can of worms if you ask the community :) I can't speak for which game is the best one but Redout 2 is the easier one to get into thanks to all the tutorials.
