So no I don't think vaccination causes Autism, can vaccination it make it worse? sure I believe that. Any virus, inflammatory infection or vaccination in theory can do that.

My son is autistic & he has a lot of mannerisms like his dad & great grandpa. I do think it is hereditary, however I think some of these cases like my son are controversial.
You see, he was very intelligent.... by 2 1/2 years old, he knew his colors, shapes, names of toys, and he could pump his own legs on his swing set and swing very high on his own.
I knew he didn’t like socialising much & he preferred to play with adults, or one on one with other kids. Other than that, he seemed to be very advanced.
Then, we decided to go ahead and address his socialisation & put him in preschool.
We went ahead and got his vaccinations. He ran a high fever that day & night, so I took him to the ER at about 3 a.m. The hooked him up to some fluids & in the end prescribed two different meds to break his fever.
I took him home & put him to bed. The following day, he wasn’t playing or up and about so I kept him with me in the living room on a pallet.
Over that well, he seemed to be feeling better.... but I noticed something strange. It looked like the side of his face was crooked & his tongue was hanging from the side where his face was lop sided. I didn’t know what was going on.... so I made him an appt with his pediatrician.
This lasted about a week or so, but it wasn’t consistent & so his pediatrician wasn’t really concerned because when we got him in, it looked pretty normal to him & he didn’t see anything to be concerned about at that time, so he said to keep an eye on him & see if there are any changes.
Well, his face seem to get better... but, then over the course of the next 4 months, he started acting strange. He stopped responding to his name, then a month later he started running in circles making weird sounds. I saw a program on autism, and it scared me. I had never heard of it before (this was in 1999)
So, I took him back to his doctor, and he held him & played with him... and reassured me he didn’t have autism.
Well, as time went on over the next 2 months.. he stopped pumping his legs on his swing & stopped speaking. Then, it looked as though he was going in complete reverse, over the next 3 years.
He was a completely different baby, even my parents who last saw him at 2 years old (they live in another state) saw him again at 4 years old & said.... he’s not the same. He has lost everything since last time we saw him. Lots of people noticed.
The whole time, I was taking him to his doctor, the hearing impaired school, & the university that had just opened an autism program & he was still in preschool for 2 years.
He was finally diagnosed with autism at 4 years old by a child psychologist. Now, we lived in a very rural area back then & there virtually no education on autism, let alone resources.
I ended having to teach his primary teachers & therapists about autism. I ended up getting a scholarship for school, from the school to be apart of their autism team & work in class with other autistic children.
This was a rough journey, as I was very young myself, 23 years old.
He can talk, read & write... loves art, games & riding his bike, four wheeler, ect..... but, he is not independent. He can only focus on certain things & is very innocent, child like.
I often wonder if he would have been higher functioning if he wouldn’t have ran that high fever after his vaccinations & when his face fell to one side for that time period.
There’s a lot more to his story, but I just stuck with certain points that have always stood out to me & looking back in hindsight how I would have done things differently if I, or our doctors here would have known.

I think you did a great job with this video of explaining your thought process and how your opinion changed over time. I also appreciate how you were trying to be respectful to Noah while still sharing your point of view at that time. My understanding is not necessarily that you didn’t want to have another child with autism as you love your son Noah and wouldn’t change him. But the traumatic experiences you went through as you fought for a diagnosis for Noah and not receiving the services he needed for years was a journey that you didn’t want another child to have to go through which influenced your decision not to vaccinate Lex at that time. Then as you learned more about autism and your family genetics, you opinions changed. I also like how you brought up the point of people asking you if you vaccinated your kids when they learn of their Autism diagnoses. I have a child with spina bifida and some people’s first reaction is to ask me if I took folic acid during my pregnancy. 1. I did, but if I didn’t would you then blame me and say it’s my fault my son has spina bifida?
    2. What is the purpose of that question? How does that help anyone now? Just so you can figure out the cause or what is to blame?
Like you said- instead of trying to figure out the cause, let’s focus on supporting people with disabilities/differences.

I absolutely hear you. This is an educated and researched decision by you. I appreciate you sharing this sensitive issue. I support you and your decision. My daughter’s best friend has 2 children, both vaccinated and one has Autism one does not. My best friend’s sister has 4 children, 1 has Autism 3 do not. I think the cause is much more complicated and parents obviously want to find something to be the cause and obviously prevent it from happening again, just like diabetes. I love that your focus is on embracing and loving the uniqueness of each of your children and how wonderful they are. When I see some parents caught up focusing on campaigning continually against vaccines and being so angry that they sit in anger constantly, by being so wrapped up with picketing, going to DC, etc, it’s like all the life gets sucked out of them instead of the wonderful time they could be spending with their beautiful children. I’m going to use an extreme analogy here, what if a child had cancer and was going through treatment? The parents were devastated by the diagnosis and wanted to warn other parents of how they feel their child MAY have gotten cancer, so they go on a Campaign to let everyone know. However, during this time, their child is going through treatment and they are busy with the campaign which takes time away from their child. Who loses in this situation? They both do, but the child loses the most and as parents we are responsible for giving the best care, love and comfort to our children. If we are in a place of anger, how does that help our child. We lose the time we could be spending with our child and our child loses essential bonding, developmental growth, certain skills, recovery and God forbid if he/she were to pass away, they have lost TIME a with their precious child. That was just an analogy of what fear and anger can do, but research is constantly being done about the causes of Autism, there are always opportunities to go to a meeting or read, listen online, etc to hear the latest research. I think you have done such an amazing job at educating yourself and yet not become such an obsessed anti vaccine person or anti whatever that it controls your life. You focus on your amazing kids and love them completely for who they are. I know this is a long post but I think you are to be commended!

I also think autism is genetic. My oldest son was diagnosed with autism at age 9. My youngest son was diagnosed just after he turned 5. After learning everything I have about autism over the last 4 years, I feel pretty confident in saying that I believe there are a lot more members of my family who are on the spectrum than just them, including me. They’re different from each other, but they have some similar traits. But some of these things they’ve had since they were born. Whether or not I vaccinated them, they always have been autistic.

I love this video! I love that you considered both sides and weren’t mean about it. Some people are totally mean about the vaccine thing because they think vaccines cause autism. I know one person that is vaccine injured and that person is in a wheelchair. But he is fearfully and wonderfully made. That’s what God said. So anyone telling you that you shouldn’t or should vaccinate your children…it’s none of their business. It’s your personal decision. And I’m glad that you were able to learn more about your child’s condition and how it affects them. I have a question: is Noah better now than he used to be with his cognitive skills? Because he always seemed to me to have low needs. I know you said he can read at a 4th grade level. My mom worked with someone who has a son with autism and intellectual disabilities. He reminds me of Noah. But Noah has low muscle tone and he doesn’t. Every child is different. Every child has their own personalities and traits. You can’t another child. I have 18q- and cystic fibrosis. They are both genetic disorders. One is hereditary and one is not. No child can have all the symptoms of a condition. Another question: have ya’ll had the opportunity to meet other kids/individuals with the condition? It’d probably help Noah and Lex and maybe Liam and Nellie when they’re older. They usually have conferences where you can learn about it and stuff. I go to a conference almost every summer to learn more about my condition and meet new friends and old friends. This year it’s in San Antonio, the home of the registry. The registry is Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society. It’s a support group. There is also a support group with cystic fibrosis, but you have to be 6 feet apart from someone else with it because you can make each other sick. The movie Five Feet Apart is about this concept. I recommend anybody without cystic fibrosis to watch this movie to see how hard it is for people with cystic fibrosis. We have to do treatments and take medicines that are debilitating to us. We have to get up every morning to do our treatments and I am waiting for a cure to my 18q- and cystic fibrosis. For now, I think God has blessed me for this life. I don’t want to have 18q- and cystic fibrosis, but I live every day with these disorders and I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!

I feel like this video was very informative and eye opening, because not everybody has the insight that you have about autism and a lot of people are still scared to death just like you were in the beginning when you didn't really know anything about it and you thought the same thing that possibly it was from vaccines and so you experimented with it and ruled it out. People that don't know still don't know though and they're still scared. Anyways that's what I gathered from it. Thank you for making these videos. They're really helpful.

I know antivaxxers who first said it was the DPT that caused Autism. Then they said it was the MMR. I knew someone with an autistic daughter who was on the National Autism board and she explained it to me and I fully believe it is genetic--AdHd too.

ADHD is for sure genetic. Many people on my dad’s side, including my dad, have ADHD. My nephew was diagnosed with ADHD, and I am certain that I have that too.
My son is in the process of getting evaluated. I’m thinking he’s gonna have mild autism/ADHD
I suspect the mild autism is from his dads side.
So yeah, I believe it’s all genetic

I have a little boy named Logan who just turned 3 and he just received his autism diagnosis (in CA they don't diagnosis till 3) and I also have a little boy named Weston who is 19 mo ths and "neurotypical".
Logan is up to date on his vaccines, but Weston hasn't received any vaccinations because he was born April 2020 when Covid hit so just received his very 1st vaccines and then we stopped going to dr. Appts because we weren't leaving the house.
Is it bad that I'm afraid to continue with Westons vaccinations? Because he doesn't have an autism diagnosis and not showing any signs after evaluations and Assessments.... I have to admit I am still so nervous to keep moving forward with his vaccinations bc he is "neurotypical" and just what if I did get him vaccinated and then it triggers his bc being from the same parents he may cary the same genes (I also believe it is genetic)... im just afraid what if the vaccine triggers it? Does that make sense? I'm just q super scared mama who wants the best for my boys and am nervous but also realize Weston wouldn't be able to go to school in CA unless he is vaccinated.
I guess I say this to see if anyone had another "typical" child after having a child with autism and had them vaccinated and they didn't effect their child at all...? Or does anyone else have/or had these same fears?

Thank you for sharing. I just want to add that environment can also play a role in genetic expression. My son is 20 months old and he hasn't been officially diagnosed yet however I can see many red flags for sensory processing disorder and possibly autistic spectrum. Personally, I had a very stressful pregnancy with both psychological and physical stressors. There was no history of autism in the family. I have decided to delay vaccines until he develops speech.

I have autism, though with no intellectual disability, so I seem neurotypical until I try to make friends or become overstimulated. Then again, I’m autistic, so it’s possible I only think I look neurotypical due to wishful thinking 😉.
Personally, with respect of everyone here, I believe mine is genetic. I had strabismus at birth along with a congenital collagen disorder, which are both foretelling and comorbid of Autism disorders.
Anyway, I got my Covid vaccines and my booster with very little regard for whether or not it causes autism. It’s just never occurred to me, for my personal experience, because I already have it. And even if it did cause autism, what’s the vaccine going to do to already-Autistic-and-ADHD kids and adults? Cause *more* autism (joke)?
    Happy holidays to you guys!

It’s amazing that “study” that made the claim was ruled as false yet some still see it as gospel. The more I learn about it the more I also think sometimes it’s parents clinging onto something after a diagnosis out of fear.
My sister is vaccine injured, happened when I was 9 weeks old, and we are both 99% vaccinated, our gp gives advice and we follow that.

  • @vegangoddess9019
    @vegangoddess9019 3 года назад +10

My personal issue with that is that even if you were born genetically with “autism”, there is no way to know if the vaccines could make things even worse. I personally don’t trust the vaccines but am a pro choice and respect each and every family decision to do what is best for them.
My son is 14.5 and has Aspergers like my husband and me. We definitely saw a regression after the vaccines and took him off completely after his 9 months vaccinations. When he was about 8 he had lots of adhd symptoms and school recommended us to medicate him. We did for about two years but then he regressed even more and started showing aggression towards school stuff. School recommended us to switch meds but we decided to take him completely off and take a more holistic route. The holistic dr did many tests on him and he did have high metal in his system. The homeopathic route took a long time and big non support from the school about our decision. Now he is homeschooled (started 3 months after the closed all schools for Covid).
Having him home is a blessing and he is thriving. He always hated going to school anyway so I don’t blame him 😊
    Namaste 🙏🏻

In my experience I don't think vaccines made my Autism worse because I never regressed, I just didn't progress in certain areas at the milestone age e.g. I never crawled at all and didn't start walking until a month before my 2nd birthday. Also in school I was delayed with motor skills. So likely hood is all the skills that were delayed would have probably been delayed regardless of being vaccinated

I enjoyed listening to this video and like many others have commented, it was very respectful. My son is on the spectrum and we learned that his is not genetic. We never suspected it to be genetic based on what we witnessed happening to him. He went through genetic testing twice, once for personal reasons and the second for a research study where a genetic component had to be ruled out in order to qualify for the study. I agree that it is important to focus on helping children who have been diagnosed to receive treatment so that their struggles can be minimized. That is my hope and prayer for my son. I just don't want to see him struggle.

Ironically perhaps, between myself and my two siblings, as far as I know my parents only got one of us vaccinated, the one they got vaccinated is, as far as we know, not autistic, while myself and my sibling who was also not vaccinated, are both autistic. So if we're going to use my family as an example, you could actually argue it appears vaccines PREVENT autism. To be clear, I don't believe that is actually the case, among other reasons, because I did get my daughter vaccinated and yet she still inherited my autism, just as I likely inherited from my mom and she from her dad based on their own autism red flags (though neither have been formally diagnosed), so it does appear to just be genetic and that vaccines have no impact on it one way or the other, but I can't help but laugh when people suggest vaccines cause autism, being in a family where the only sibling who was vaccinated, is the only one who doesn't appear to have inherited our mothers autism.

I absolutely love when people say that a lot of doctors are autistic, so vaccines don't cause autism, autism causes vaccines!
I was vaccinated and I'm autistic, but I don't think that's got anything to do with it at all, since current research shows that autism is something you're born with; a difference in how the brain functions. Without being autistic, I wouldn't even be close to being who I am today, I'd be an entirely different person

Ah, this is what I've been wondering since I subscribed and felt you must have answered this already.
I believe the genetics reason and I question if lack of socialization early in life could be a cause. I have been learning about how things were done way back then when they shoved Autistic kids in asylums. This was allowed until the 90's. Now this is when people who believe the vaccines cause autism start the argument; all the vaccines they added in the 90's, but remember I said asylums were deemed illegal so now all these people are in society.
The sad thing is with all the research; until we ban all vaccines, yet there's still autism; people are going to argue this is why autism is on the rise. You could show pages and pages of research proving genetics, but oh no it's nonsense unless you say "yes, my child's DNA was f'd up thanks to vaccines." 🤦‍♀️ I've even found claims from the Amish saying they have autism in the community. I think we're just at the early stages of proper research rather than hiding people who "don't function correctly" in asylums. I think this is going to be something else that people will always argue about. Other research I've found; autism is considered before other conditions with the same characteristics and the claim we're all a little autistic.

My daughter got the covid vaccine when she was pregnant. My granddaughter is 10 months old, is on track and super funny and cute. Her best friend is a Developmental Pediatrician. She said that they have more and more new parents coming in and the waiting list is long, from parents worried their baby has Autism from the Covid Vaccine. There is also no direct link from the Covid vaccine to Autism. She looked at my granddaughter who is 10 months as well and said she was fine. My daughter was not at all concerned about the Covid vaccine causing Autism, she was concerned why she was on her hands and knees but not yet crawling, (she I diagnosed as, new mommy syndrome, lol). Jaime (the Developmental Pediatrician just gave us lots of information when she visited us. Jaime has 2 sons, one has Autisim. Both fully vaccinated. As parents it is always moms who blame ourselves when anything happens to our children. In my tiny opinion, look at how (if your baby has Autism), how you can nurture, help with development, get early intervention and get some therapy for the guilt you feel because you didn’t “do this to your beautiful baby”. Focus on loving him/her and put all that energy toward you feeling better and the great mom you are going to be of that incredible baby!
