Hey, ReldrikGeo, I would recommend the book " _The Empire Of The Soul_ " by the late Paul Wlliam Roberts. A very readable and entertaining book that gives first glimpses of India for foreign visitors. It is dated ( _and misinformed in a few places_ ), but still captures westerners imagination.
