@@That_Guy_Ty There's this thing with translation between different languages that idioms and popular slang-ish expressions from a source language don't necessarily have an *exact* equivalent in the target language, and if you try to translate such informal expression word-for-word it would sound awkward and rather like a forced translation that might even have a very different meaning in another language. obviously, even in English "I'm screaming to you" is not really usable as an alternative to this very specific and casual idiom "shout out to you".

hahahah i am russian and what you said "кричу тебе - krichu tebe" means scream to you, not shout out (- privet or privet tebe) so pls dont scream, there is an exam in Korea
@@gmtm7873 It's a trick question. The answer is within one sentence. Just find it and answer the multiple choice. Easier said than done sure. But the trick to these questions is scanning and focusing on the only relevant sentence and forgetting about the rest. These are common questions on many standard tests. They appear very difficult but are actually simple. However due to the way these questions are made many students waste way more time than they should on them. Many math questions also work like this.
very. i remember seeing a _gifted students_ test where they have into insert given paragraphs into an article about surreal novels or something equally mind-boggling, all the while deducting which paragraphs are irrelevant.
Moms: **giving birth on nov.14, 8:10 AM through 5:40 PM** Babies: **screams and crying** Korea: *”Looks like I’m going to have to take your child and put them under arrest.”*
Student: *calls 911* Police: 911 how may I help you? Student: I’m late to the exam Police: hold let me get you an escort Student: *gets a whole presidential escort to the testing site*
The SAT and the ACT were designed to be a standard in which colleges can judge their students by based on their present knowledge in select subjects. Its not meant to be incredibly difficult or life deciding. Elite and top tier schools in America usually require a common application with an essay and sometimes an interview, unlike ROK schools which use the CSAT to decide if you get in. People with low SAT scores have gotten into elite colleges.
Korean elementary schools : allows no creativity Korean middle schools : allows no creativity Korean high schools : allows no creativity Korean universities : WHY AREN'T YOU CREATIVE
South Koreans: *taking an important exam depending on their future jobs* North Koreans: I'm bout to end this whole country's career. *turns on the lawnmower*
With such badly written questions, it's no wonder the English section of the exam is so difficult. That paragraph would be destroyed by any editor. It is unnecessarily wordy, almost as if it was written by a kid trying to pad out their 2000 word essay or something.
If you read you'll notice they're not actually spamming the paragraph with useless information, it's just that the wording is made as insane as possible and the subjects discussed are much too abstract. It's basically "insert your favorite philosopher here with no context".
I'm pretty sure the teachers writing these tests are also Korean. East Asian languages tend to be unnecessarely descriptive. So i guess they also write English based on their culture frame of reference.
To people who don't know these kind of exams really suck. In Turkey we have a similar system if you are late they won't let you enter if the kid next to you peed in his pants you can't do anything. One of my friend's seatmates actually vomited on the floor and they literally did nothing. He continued his test because if you leave even for the bathroom you can't enter back. They also have a tight security, searching every croony of your body. No electronics including wristwatches, no pen, pencil, eraser they give a cheap pencil and eraser to you in the exam. I went into depression(clinical depression) like most of my friends at the senior high school it was that bad. And our exam was 160 minutes for the first part , 40+40 for the second part. We also don't have a listening shit which is fortunate so I can't think how South Korean kids take it, poor souls.
Opps my bad guys, forgot that there won't be much plane noise when fuel is out, but I don't suppose the passengers would be as quiet when they hear about this news
Doesn't take a genius to realize almost everyone in America works an "unskilled" labor job at somepoint in their life, even if they end up in Harvard, It's just part of the American culture. It's also a country of like 360 million so 47% is still a really huge amount of people.
I hate to go off, but that little digression drove me insane. Unskilled positions don't HAVE to be filled by uneducated people. There is zero penalty to productivity or quality of work when a person with an education does manual labor. Claiming that there's such thing as an "over-educated" population is ridiculous and kind of classist.
As a korean student, English section is a easy part of the test! korean section is way more difficult! it requires ultimately high comprehension skills and cognition skills to get into 4% of the examinee The hardest part of the test is "reading" which is consisted with 3 absolutely long article. and they are written with unfamiliar topic such as how does the cutting edge technology works, astrology, law, economics or philosophy etc.

@@Lady8D yeah but that comment was unnecessary. besides, maybe they meant 'easy' as in the way the test was made was easy that you don't have to be that good in english to be able to answer it.

He says as he shows “IM SCREAMING TO YOU” in Russian.
Please don’t use Google Translate.
Technically it’s the same thing, so what’s the deal.
From now on I'll use "guys, I'm screaming to you to my homeboy Joe. He's an og"
That makes all the more hilarious to Russians

Having a flu during exams must be the most mortifying thing ever
Your whole class will fail because you cant hold in those coughs or sneezes
I used to live there they separate the rooms. For students with sickness or disability.
That's what I was told while there.
I had the flu with a 103 F fever during the PSAT, and I had issues getting my eyes to even focus on the exam. I ended up not being able to do a retake and missed the National Merit cutoff because of it. I'm still a bit salty about that all these years later, but now I see it could have been a LOT worse for me.

With such badly written questions, it's no wonder the English section of the exam is so difficult. That paragraph would be destroyed by any editor. It is unnecessarily wordy, almost as if it was written by a kid trying to pad out their 2000 word essay or something.
It makes more sense if you actually start reading at the beginning.
The phrasing is still weird though.
It is designed to throw you off as a foreign speaker. I had Spanish exams that were similarly word salads just to test comprehension.
Maybe the teachers want the students to be editors - who should be able to comprehend those garbage...
They should introduce the Day of Noise to compensate all of the noise that was lost during the Day of Silence.

Airliner: "We're declaring an emergency!"
South Korea: "SHHHHH!"
"Remember, the US isn't dumb, it just does a good job of supplying its unskilled labour industries."
LOL
Isn't that the truth of that statement.
Looking at the number of people electing Trump, this statement is false
Doesn't take a genius to realize almost everyone in America works an "unskilled" labor job at somepoint in their life, even if they end up in Harvard, It's just part of the American culture. It's also a country of like 360 million so 47% is still a really huge amount of people.
I hate to go off, but that little digression drove me insane. Unskilled positions don't HAVE to be filled by uneducated people. There is zero penalty to productivity or quality of work when a person with an education does manual labor. Claiming that there's such thing as an "over-educated" population is ridiculous and kind of classist.

Not true. The acceptance rate of SNU is usually 20%~30%. But, it is true that students who are at least within the top 1% of the CSAT score can get an opportunity to enter SNU. There is a difference depending on major though.
well you have to take account of the population. the united states has like 3x the amount of people living here than in south korea so obviously the acceptance rate would be higher and lower in south korea.

@@flopsinator5817 You swallow a thesaurus?
