Europe has this figured out and we should use it as an example. Airlines, AirBnB, Cable/internet, cell plans everything should be the price you see is the price you pay. Taxes and fees total. The Chamber of Commerce statement is garbage and they sound like fools.
@@zeitgeist888 Yes. But they already add the fees when the item is selected for purchase, right? So how's that different? The difference is when you're advertising on your main web page before you've gathered anyone's information, or printing posters to be hung up in the venue in advance, etc.
@@darrennew8211 True for those instances where the tax is based on the location of the buyer. AirBnB Hotels airlines cable internet etc.. all base the tax on an already known tax rate at the location. Your cable or internet service provider knows when they market the price what the tax is. Same for many if not most items and services where taxes and fees are often hidden or added on after the listed price is shown. Cookies, browser ID and location services make anything else easy to show the actual final price easy to do. Nothing is perfect but companies use added fees and taxes as a cop out for showing the actual price most of the time not as an accident or any attempt at honest advertising.
Junk fees don't just cost billions, they waste everyone's time because we have to be so careful in understanding the deal in trying to not get screwed. It's incredibly annoying and time wasting.
Perhaps they should consider a “Junk Fees” Bill in regards to Government Funding where currently “Cost” overruns frequently exceed 100% - 200% of the Original “Estimates”.
Excellent news. Sneaky junk fees are terrible. They can double the price of something easily. I order a $20 pizza and the credit card bill is $50. I scrutinize the bill looking for the sneaky fees and can't find them, but they're there.
@conscientiousobjector5988 that was what " living costs" was for. And we Americans do not think they are free. And the americans you're probably thinking off are probably super rich or criminals
I was referring to the misconception that Americans believe they are free people when they are clearly debtors and serfs. This is an issue that is being insufficiently addressed.
Cable/internet is the worst when it comes to junk fees.

Given the taxes all change in different places, I'm OK with not including taxes that change depending on where the buyer lives.
@@darrennew8211 They charge taxes so they know the tax amount so add it to the price when an item is selected for purchase. It isn't difficult

@@darrennew8211non-US web pages do it all the time. No problem at all. If you select a different country, it all updates.
Restaurant menus should be like in Europe: what you see if what you pay, including any and all fees, taxes and gratuity/tips!
*all over the world
I was hoping this would apply to car rentals.

When traveling in Nevada you get a nightly rate and than there is a huge resort fee added....
Good! So this applies to restaurant tipping and fixed gratuitie fees too, right?
I see Biden's handlers are hard at work. Having Biden saying good things even though he's crap.
"Undermining"? So it's just like emails or junk mail that I don't want & never requested....
Overdue

Wish Trump had listened to Matt Gaetz and kept Lina Khan. By far the best person in government in a long long time.
Airlines?
Well lets see 😊
The IRS extract junk fees from Americans paycheck just because they can. 😂😂
What costs Americans is living costs like energy heating health credit card %
You forgot mortgages and residential leases. I'm having a hard time understanding why Americans think they are free.

Still doesn't fix the problem. Still going to be overpriced. The only difference is it will be in ur face with no surprise.
