    I don’t think in a million years we’d get 50 for Eddie, but if you put it into the perspective that balogun went for 30 million, and considering Eddie has a lot more experience in the premier league I wouldn’t say 50 isn’t far off from a good valuation. English tax too, seeing that he’s been linked with teams as close as palace or west ham. Still don’t think he’d go for more than 35 million. Love the show Charles, COYG

    Eddie's performances didn't drop last season Charles. He barely got a sniff after scoring that hat trick. I think Arsenal are holding out for between 35 to 40 mill for Eddie so the 50 mill price tag makes sense.
    We won't entertain the 10s and 20 mill bids for Eddie now makes a lot of sense the price tag

    Hey Charles, love the show and have been watching for some years now. I have to say I disagree with your take on Saka and his form. Out of the front four I think he has been clearly the best. He was causing problems before he was pulled. I am stuck on why everyone is ignoring how Bellingham has been playing. 0 shots, 0 chances created, 0successful tackles, 0 completed passes into the final third, 22% duals won and he lost possession 16 times. I don’t think he should be paired with rice because they are both ball carriers. He needs to see the bench. Agree with you that Kane has been pretty bad too

    Hi Charles. In ̈ a still quiet market from an Arsenal point of view,. The news that Karl Hein has signed a new contract has been under reported, and under appreciated. He won't play many, if any games, but still great to have such a good third choice goalkeeper. One less headache for Arteta.

  • @mills1177

    Doesnt matter if 50s realistic or not , we see all the top clubs do this with their players we need to wake up and adapt. We're a huge club and these are english players who have played a decent amount of games for us. Seen players with less runs in first teams get sizeable fees. This is a business. Gotta push that transfer fee up regardless and arsenal are well within their rights to do so.

  • @mattjayclay

    Watching Saka playing for England (as with the latter arsenal games this season) I'm reminded of Theo and how his game was frustrated. He's receiving the ball with his back to goal and struggles to turn with the wingback and left centre back ready for him. Mostly he pushes it back and although it moves the team up the pitch he's wasted there.

  • @dchan617
    @dchan617 3 месяца назад +4

    Really odd take on Saka, Charles. He was poor on what basis? Kyle Walker’s inability to put passes in the correct position so Saka didn’t have to change his run? Kane, Foden, Gallagher, and Bellingham clogging central channels when he wants to turn inside? Gallagher being completely useless in linking play? Harry Kane running sideways at Saka instead of into space where to create danger? You regularly defend Martinelli’s performance this past season based on a disjointed left side, maybe don’t watch the match through the bottom of the pint glass mate

    We paid £65 million for Havertz and he was scoring about 8 goals a season for Chelsea.
    When Eddie replaced Jesus in season 22/23 he scored around that number of goals in a third of a season.
    We ask for £50 million for Eddie and be grateful for anything from £40 million upwards.

    • @chiefhardy6312
      @chiefhardy6312 3 месяца назад

      The Havertz-Nketiah comparison doesn't make sense to me. First of all, we signed him as a midfielder, so goals weren't the primary focus/objective for signing us. Secondly, we were signing his potential rather than the way he played at Chelsea. More specifically, how great of a young player he was at Leverkusen.

      @UnknownUser-rb9pd 3 месяца назад +1

      @@chiefhardy6312 And why wouldn't somebody sign Nketiah for his potential. If he plays regularly in the right set up there's a decent chance he becomes a 20 goal a season striker. I think though he needs the right set up to take advantage of his "fox in the box" abilities.

    • @jonsnow2791
      @jonsnow2791 3 месяца назад +1

      I mean Havertz was regularly starting for Chelsea, was a former wonderkid (with a big initial transfer to Chelsea) and had tons of champion league experience including the winning goal. Not to mention they play different positions so apple's to oranges.
      Nkeitah is more comparable to Balgoun last summer who got sold for 25 million after a great season in France. Nkeitah has mainly been a substitute, and is on a decent wage. He's also English, and 25 in his prime and has term on his contract so he does have good value, and yes has shown goal scoring ability somewhat. He's not going to be a 20 goal guy (that's very rare), but yeah he's more than capable of being a starter for one of those clubs mentioned. I think he'll probably get around 25 million - 30 million max.

    Charles, on Martinellís return from his last injury he doesn’t look like the player from 2022/23 season. Assessing his end of season performances for the club and his recent run with Brazil he seems really tentative and his burst is not as effective. On current form I think Arteta will park him on the bench, should we consider selling while he still has value or wait and see if he recaptures his old form?

  • @mhe87
    @mhe87 3 месяца назад

    Charles, thinking about Nketiah's potential sale in the context of Balogun's sale is helpful.
    Surely Nketiah could be sold to a Premier Lesgue club for AT LEAST what we were able to sell Balogun for to a non-PSG French club (34m pounds). Yes Balogun was younger and scored a lot of goals in Ligue One (in 1 fluke season). But he only had 1 year left on his contract, never scored a Prem goal, and two seasons before was only able to score 3 goals in the Championship. Nketiah has a long term contract, has scored 4-5 Prem goals in 3 straight seasons with incredibly limited minutes. Balogun wasn't Prem ready and Nketiah is.
    I agree 50m pounds is probably too much, but we did the same strategy leaking a similar number with Balogun. It's just our opening negotiation number.
    I think 40m is realistic, and I would be disappointed if we got less than Balogun's 34m.

    RE Southgate and England - everyone clamoring for player changes has the wrong end of the stick. All that has to change is Southgates instructions. Foden needs to be told to stick to the left touchline. He does this for Pep and then has triggers to come inside based on opposition positioning. With England he just comes inside constantly and we then have a defensive block against us that just drifts right and is impossible to move through because its so cramped.
    All of our players in our starting 11 and our bench are good enough to play and succeed it is the system/lack of structure that is ruining us.

  • @BeforeThisNovember

    Guiressy is too old. If we had a young prospect waiting to get into the team, then fair enough. But we don’t. We don’t have ANY youth talent on the edge of our squad (except MAYBE Nwaneri). Which is very poor.
    That said, if we fail to sign anyone else then, for 17m and if he’s prepared to not start every game, he’s a decent option.
    We just HAVE to sign top talents that instantly elevate the squad - and who have resale value and aren’t soon to decline.

    The problem with the English team is simply politics on all fronts. Instead of wanting a team that shines, the English fanbase want individual players representing their clubs to shine. Chelsea fanbase want palmer to start so they can brag he is the best English player, same as the other top club fanbase. They are not playing as a team, the coach is out of his depth. The English pundits are just clueless. The reason players are not winning anything with England is same reason Beckham of real Madrid was different to Beckham of England. The English managers have no clue how to use their players.

    Charles, did you ever think that maybe the club knows he's not worth £50M but they have to place this high price tag on him to get what he's actually worth (£30-35M). More often than not clubs have to make concessions on the asking price, or overvalue the player in the first place just to end up getting the fair value. It makes sense that we have to use this strategy given our history of not getting value for our players

    We are 4 days from the PSR deadline. There are sellers, few buyers. I too want to us to negotiate for the best fee for Eddie, but 50MM? Don't think so. Today's price is not yesterday's price and the market has changed. Look at the movement in January. Look at the point deductions. I believe the transfer market is going into recession.

    Love you channel but for the first time I will agree with what people say that you under value Arsenal players. I think putting a price tag of 50M on Eddie if fair enough. That way even if there is a counter offer, it doesn’t drop significantly. If we price him at 30M, we could end up selling at 20-25 instead of 30-35 if we price him at 50M.

    Don't see anything wrong with that price. He is young, didn't know he was 25, he is a proven goal scorer in the prem, a couple clubs are interested which suggests competition. This is a solid price. We may not get 50 in the end for him but it's a good price to stimulate some bargaining and haggling especially among competing clubs. We always complain that we are not good sellers. This surely will be a good test

    That's exactly how much Eddie is worth. 17 goals in his last 22 starts at home, his away form is poor and he does not impact the game off the bench, but you cannot argue the fact when he starts at home Eddie is quality, the numbers don't lie. 40-45m would be fair for me to ask any suitors.

    As always fun to listen to you Charles. The England Team - It’s like they’re all auditioning for solo acts instead of playing in a band. Too much thinking, not enough passing - they’re holding up the ball as if they’re waiting for divine inspiration! And don’t get me started on the manager’s tactics - it’s like he’s got them playing chess when they should be playing football! A bit more positivity and quicker ball movement would definitely go a long way. Cheers to hoping they find their rhythm very soon!

    One of Englands problem is trying to find a spot in the team to accommodate Foden. He has only scored 4 times in 36 games. Dont anyone keep telling me he is stuck out on the left (winger) he spent most of last night in central positions. He had more than enough chances to replicate he's club form. But he is not showing it for England. Yes he is very good for MC. but they are usually camp on the edge of opposite teams penalty box, so obvious Foden usually gets to fire in plenty shots.
    At the moment England are playing the so called lesser teams who play with a low block !! Even the "Mighty Arsenal" struggle to break them sort of teams down. So dont be to hard on them, but sometimes Southgate's decisions are a little baffling, ie. sending on Gordon for a couple on minutes. Lets see what happens when we play a so called stronger team. We will know very shortly.
    Don't forget, every other so called top manager, cant seem to get an England team over the line. Not forgetting the great Sir Alf. Then they sacked him.🤷‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂

    IF (and at this time of the summer I'm always sceptical around reporting) the reports are true about Eddie's valuation then I think that it's more reflective of Arsenal's negotiation strategy rather than a realistic expectation on their part. I.E. they know they'll be negotiated down so they'd rather start high so they get their actual valuation. And given the at times fair criticism of Edu not getting good value for sales (though some improvement last summer) I can't fault him for trying to maximise sale value even if I don't think he'll get that amount on this occasion.

    I have always rated Eddie, he is best suited to 442. If I played that system with a close 10 I would see 50Mill as a highish price, but not far off fair.
    I feel that he needs to find a team that sees that he is definitely worthy.
